Looking for Bandsters near Denton, TX
MissyC replied to ready2bthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Persistance, I don't know about any meetings in the El Paso area. Perhaps post a general post in the Texas forum? Our group would certainly welcome any bandster or potential lapp-bander who is interested. I say the more the merrier. I think Mary planned this one because she, I and others were interested in a meeting for the Denton area. I know I am happy about because I don't care to drive in toward Dallas but was very interested in all the benefits of a support group. -

Hey Mary, Very happy to hear your nephew is doing better. Our continued prayers are with you and your family. Are you going to be staying there for an extended time? Richard, thank you very much for the bandster picture. Maybe you could post it on our thread here? Again, to everyone at the meeting the other night. Was great to meet you. -

Crispy? How did the date go? Hope you had fun. Joan, I think Keith Urban is a cutie too. I said it before, I just don't find myself attracted to bald guys either. Partly because in recent years, 2 of the male nurses I work with shave their heads and they are both ....ahem... *cough...jerks...*cough.... lol...but I still try to get along. -
omg.....I totally laughed out loud with that one. I had to copy and paste it to e-mail to my bud's. Thank you for the belly chuckles.

Devana, I am so glad to hear someone else say that those roadside shrines disturb them. I understand the original concept was started by MADD to memorialize victims of drunk drivers, but they are everywhere now in my area. I am a nurse, am I don't feel like I am unsympathetic to death at all. I deal with death and dying almost every day. I am bothered that we "society", puts up these shrines for death. I guess I think to myself.....is the poor young women who died suddenly from blood clots in bed 20 any less tragic or unimportant?? ......or the middle aged man who died from cardiac kidney disease in bed 15 ??? We don't put big crosses on every bed where someone dies. Our sorrow and grief are no less heartfelt. I personally love cemetary's. It is moving and important for me to spend time with deceased loved ones in my family several times per year. Me and my mom make sure that graves are tidy and silk flowers renewed. They are peaceful and quiet spots of tribute to the dead. Why can't we stick with them? I don't mean to offend anyone. That's just my point of view.

I am planning on being there tonight, baring any unforeseen probs. I guess we just look for??? I don't think Jason's has table reservations so does it? Do we have a corner table? Missy -
I think Mark Walberg would be great as Morelli. He's a hunk, he got the attitude and he's got that great Boston accent that could probably work as a Jersey one in movie land. todays book: Kissing Sin by Keri Arthur
-
ELLIPTICAL = evil devil machine. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
-
Ha..... I love Stephanie Plum! She is my idol too. I am firmly in the Morelli fan corner too. :cheer2: I have read all of Kathy Reichs books. I like Temp Brennen. The series is NOTHING like the books tho...it has strayed from all the characters and storylines in the books except Temperance. I was dissapointed in that. But if you watch the series as separate and don't look for comparsons to the books (like I keep doing....sigh), the tv series is pretty gone. And...David Boreanz is nice eye candy!!!! Yesterdays book.....Drop Dead Gorgeous by Linda Howard. (#2 Blair Mallory book). Todays book...Touched by Darkness...by Catherine Spangler. :scared: me....bookaholic and member of the "save the vowels" club.

Filled to 9cc or more in a VG band?
MissyC replied to NowNotSoBigGuy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bill, I have a 13cc capacity in my VG and am currently at 10.5cc fill. I still don't have great restriction. (I long to be in the 4-6 oz club). But it has been better since my last fill last week. Hang in there, I notice that you are losing weight. Nearly 60 lbs in 4 months is awesome. good luck with your next fill. -
Myra, Excellent news that your last fill seems to be working so well. Thats great. Will you still have to go ahead with port revision immediately or will it be postponed for awhile? On insurance....I too have HCA UHC and have been fighting with them for months. They denied my last 3 claims for no good reason. Its been frustrating. Fortunately, Dr jay's office is doing most of the fighting for me. They've been great. Linda, hang in there and best wishes with job situation and search. Kim and Alicia, my Dr has a very conservative post-fill diet plan too. I had to stay on clear liq for 24 hours then 6 days of full liquids. On the full liquid he added, a minimum of 4 protein drinks a day. Its awful. But I did drop a few lbs in the process. :clap2: Drew....OMG, congrats on the roller derby. Its sounds rockin!! You must get us some pic's of you in full "derby gear"!!! Kim....thank you for a laugh, that muffin website is hysterical.

One week post fill, and so far restriction seems to be doing better. I have had 2 episodes of pb tho, so my goal is to learn to slow down with that 1st bite. Need to work on avoiding that 1st bite syndrome. Serious, good luck with your fill. I know what you mean about a whole different lifestyle of eating. good luck. -
After my third fill two weeks ago, I have had 4-5 episodes. I am not sure if you would call it vomiting or pb'ing. It wasn't sliming but I felt nauseous and like I was choking. I would begin coughing and bringing up small bits of food and saliva. And its usually after only 2 or 3 bites of food. What is this?? How can I prevent it??? Strangely....after waiting about 30-45 minutes, I can usually eat my regular size meal without any trouble. Why does this happen sometimes but not others???????? ........ .......worried about slippage. Missy
-
Myra, good luck with your procedure. Keep us posted with the details. ps.. none of my business prob, but does your insurance cover you with band related problems?? I wonder because my insurance company has made me fight literally for every penny related to this surgery so far. I worry if I had complications...would my insurance cover.
-
Mindy, thank you for the info. I have tried several preventive vasopressors. I just couldn't tolerate the side effects. And I have had friends and family nagging me incessantly to get a sleep study done to see if sleep apnea is contributing to my headaches. I broke down just recently and made an appointment. I am seeing a doc about it in 3 weeks. I just didnt want to wear that cumbersome machine, but if it helps, I guess its worth it. Lisa I too have cluster, migraine, occular and sinus headaches as well as regular. So maybe cpap will be the answer.

Hillary Clinton, First Woman President of the US. Would you vote for her?
MissyC replied to godloveshope2's topic in Rants & Raves
Would I vote for a women president...absolutely. Would I vote for Hilary Clinton. No. My preference is conservative. She is too liberal for me. Plus...ok, I admit it...I just don't like her. -
My migraines have increased slightly since surgery also. At first I thought it was due to lack of soda/caffeine but now....9 months later I think not. I haven't done any new research. I just live with it. I've suffered from migraines since the age of 17. I have been thru all kinds of tests and meds in the last 20 years. Never heard of oxygen therapy tho??? It that like c-pap or bi-pap for sleep apnea?

Joan, it sounds like maybe you'd like to give therapy a try. I think thats a great idea and the nice thing about it is.....its not written in stone or a lifetime commitment. If you try it and feel its worthwhile for you....go for it. If you go and don't enjoy it/ feel uncomfortable or that its just a waste of time...just don't go back. I too have thought of going/for my severe depression, but have never made the leap. I vascillate back and forth on my degrees of interest in pursuing it. Good luck and let us know how it goes. ps...thanks again for all the great info on protein drinks. -
On the discussion of carbs counting. I try to be a carb counter. I do the fitday.com program. It counts my daily carbs/protein and fat as well as calories. My daily average cal count is 13-1700 calories per day. This seemed like a lot to me, til I realized that my eating over the past few years had gotten so out of hand that I was consuming 2500-4000+ calories most days due to my fast food addiction. So 1300 to even 18-1900 calories per day, my body likes it and I am still having wt loss. Maybe not as fast as some, but the scale is slowly and consistantly going down. I am learning to make better food choices and hopefully making habits for a lifetime. I do fairly well with water, 45-60 oz per day. I'm lucky because I actually like water. But I have to admit, I miss Dr Pepper and still crave it. The no carbonation rule, its been one of the harder habits to break for me. i'm still not 100% there. .......me.....hanging in there...............
