My drinking yesterday at work was a flop I got some strawberry powerade zero and mixed in unflavored injury powder. Well I just couldn't do it! I do not like "kool aid" taste :ack2: anything! I tried to sip it but just couldn't do it!. I also think I am going to wait and try the samples I got post-op. I only have 10 days (I think that is what Dr. Aceves requires) of clear. When I can drink full I will be able to have my tea and soy slender, can down a pot of that no problem. The good news is I didn't have ice cream yesterday! Ok I ate a cookie...:w00t: and some M&M's This hunger thing is really getting to me lately. This band sucks!

What Do the Protein Bullets Taste Like?
Dee replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Collegen protein is made from boiled cow hide. That is what the protein bullets are made from. OMG I have drank these now I am grossed out....Put my glasses on and read the ingredients in all the protein samples I got. No wonder they have so much protein. I am going to "steer" clear of them! D. -
Has anyone had a realize band removed during a revision? I am concerned because my port is attached with surgical clips and not sutures. D.
-
Thank you all for this feedback, I comfortable about the port removal now! Now let me think what else can I obsess about (haha) . Today going to try and sip Water all day see how I do..."Post-op at work pretend day". D.

Congrats, love the picture of the scale! You must feel on top of the world! Yes if you can do it we can do it. That is the main reason I log onto this board to get inspired. YOU DeeDee are an "official" inspiration to us all!!!:001_tongue:

I changed my unfill date to 3/1 just not ready to trust myself! I need to start exercising but I am unable to do anything that involves feet, I had surgery on my foot and I still have pain, there is talk of removing a nerve!! I do lift weights also but I think I won't be able to do that post surgery. I do some walking at work it tops out my foot for sure! I love to exercise so this really sucks for me. Was really hungry yesterday..sure hope this sleeve can curb that feeling, I hate fighting it. This band is keeping me honest most of the time (we have soft serve ice cream at work :w00t: lately I have been having a cup at about 3p with chocolate syrup and nuts of course...and to make it worse you serve yourself) today I am going to have a protein drink ready, I bought a bunch of samples on line.

Thank you all for the encouragement!!

Got a new date...March 16th..kinda upset with my coordinator as I was not scheduled for on the day I thought and she didn't tell me. :scared0:I found out by a post on this board! Contacted the other coordinator, changed my tickets (Dr. Aceves is paying the difference) Changed my vacation at work PIA!! So now I am back on track. Sitting on the fence about an unfill , I have an appointment with a surgeon who will do it on Thursday. Gonna call today and try to resked. So worried about gaining too much weight I have been holding pretty steady +- 5 lbs. So close to goal. Weight loss ticker will go up when I weigh in for surgery. goal is 130. I can do this....

Dr. Jossart, "My Surgeon said the stomach heals 50% within 72 hours and 100% within 3 months. Leakage is something that usually happens right away or later if you vomit a lot. " any input to this? Is this true?? D.
-
Dr. Jossart,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Been getting conflicting information about revisions. 1. The band should be removed first than after x amount of time a sleeve can be placed. Rational: The area around the band will be irritated after taking the band out due to adhesion having to be cut to get the band out. 2.Taking band out and sleeve in the same procedures. I will have had my band ~1 year. What is your view? 1 week post op and still feeling bad
Dee replied to AmyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
AmyJ, Hope you are feeling better. You have lost 21# :thumbup1:? !!!!! Hang in there! TexasT, OK have to ask; I too am a tea-alcoholic( just regular Lipton no fancy stuff for me)! Did you switch to decaf?? I am weaning myself off of regular and miss my caffeine. Besides sugar it is the only "vice", if can call it that, I have left. How did the port removal go? I have a realize port and am concerned because it is attached with surgical clips not sutured in place. Getting my unfill next week, concerned I will gain too much weight back. already up 5 # my jeans are getting tight!!! :scared0: No way going to buy a bigger size... D. -
Planning ahead ?anyone Dr. Aceves Mar 12?
Dee replied to Dee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CAMom, Let me know what date you have, who is your coordinator? I have e-mailed Renee 2x and she has not replied??? I have some questions. Are you driving to Mexico? I fly into SD on the 11th. I too am nervous but feel confident I am making the right decision for me. (I KNOW I will have some "buyer's remorse" but since I anticipate this I will be better able to deal with it) Looking at this forum has really helped me. Knowing others have done this before me and are at goal AND holding (my #1 reason to do this) I have lost weight sooooo many times only to regain it. This truly the last stop for me as I would NO WAY consider a RNY. Keep in touch (you can PM me..) D. -

Dee replied to Joe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post! Thank you for the "tour" were the stores in the Mall just normal US mall stores?? or some tourist stores? Sounds like a nice walk. Did you feel safe???(Ok I know you are a dude...would you let your wife walk alone???) -
Interesting situation last night
Dee replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking a PPI (Nexium) sounds like acid reflux to me??? My understanding is no "pills" for at least a month??? Who did your sleeve? I would call them. D. -
Shontel, Is the hole where they took out your port? I have my "large" incision by my port? I have realize band and the port is bigger, they attached it with clips vice sewing. What kind of band did you have. Hope you are still on the healing track. Do you remember what antibiotic they gave you? I am concerned with getting too much antibiotics with my revision. I have such paranoia about an infection! Glad to have the band removed? I get my unfill next Thursday, then one month till sleeve counting down! Thanks for posting the picture... D.

Stopped logging my food, I have done it so many times!! I KNOW what I need to eat! Can't wait to get this band unfilled. Got food stuck last night nausea and vomiting, It was just spaghetti So ready for the sleeve! !!! Weaning off the caffeine (still don't think it matters that much) but I am bound and determined to follow the directions Dr. Aceves gives me. I have no illusions that this is a major step for me. Got my samples!!! will start a list...

Hematoma Hell after Revision
Dee replied to TexasT's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
What staples did you have? Did you have an open procedure? My understanding is that with a lap revision there would not be staples? I am concerned with them getting this port out aka a tumor. Take care of your wound and follow the directions in its care!-wash hands and keep the dressing in place!!! (protein helps the body to heal..) Did you get another antibiotic??? -
Glad you made your decision. Let us know what the local surgeon thinks. I have told all the people that I am going to. (total of 6) I get the "you have lost weight before" "You're not that big" I totally relate to be a professional dieter! I choose Dr. Aceves because of his experience. I think I could have possibly gotten it done locally but I am having a revision and I want a surgeon who has done revisions. I am spending a lot of money. I plan on retiring from dieting and starting a second career... Good luck to you. Keep us informed.

Has anyone gone back to their surgeon in Mx if they had complications? Seems like they would want to maintain their reputation? D.

 answer to my question? Thank you

Sleeve Gastrectomy (leakage)
Dee replied to tobaaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If the stomach is healed, I would hope vomiting would not rip it open! This should be a MAJOR concern if this is true! Holy c...... please tell me this isn't true...Gonna post to the MD on this site. D. -
Suggestion: Have your sister talk to Renee Dr. Aceves coordinator she is an RN.
-
update..I am getting my band unfilled ~1 month before revision. I am paranoid that I will get something stuck and then it will be irritated at the band site. Looking forward to eating a salad!!! This is becoming more real to me. I am excited and trying not to do the what if's. This site has been very helpful to me. Thank you for sharing your experiences! D.
-
When did you get unfilled before your revision. I am looking at mid March (have time off from work, scrapping and get the $$) Do I need to get a complete unfill??? So afraid of gaining too much weight back. Thank you for your advice (Of course I am going to ask the MD.. leaning towards Dr. Aceves but he may be too expensive (I know..cost isn't everything..) Did anyone get a revision from him and he had you get unfilled?? What was the time frame?? D.
-
Today I started logging my food on sparks. Going to have a complete unfill in two weeks want to make sure there is no irritation, and no chance I will get something stuck. I have steadily been gaining weight since I am only eating food that won't get stuck (I did have a corn chip and it did, last night-just "mild" stuck-no puking!) I get hungry.and make poor food choices (ice cream comes to mind..) Had a talk with myself.....These 6 weeks will prep me for the accountability I will need for post sleeve. The light at the end of the tunnel...
