Has anyone had a band placed in Mexico and then had Tricare pay for fills. My PCP is military and they (military place lap bands). I made an appointment with my PCP but wanted to have some idea of others experience. I have a low BMI so Tricare would not have approved me.

are the fills done under fluoroscopy?

Been banded for 2 months. How is everyone doing? I have had one fill (8.4 cc total )and lost a total of 20# since surg date. Learning to eat! Smaller bites and chewing enough Stuck= chicken, turkey PBx1 (liquids for 48 hours) second guessing decision but I did lose 20# Think I have restriction, YOU?????:thumbup:

I have been dieting my entire life and now I am done! The most I have weighted is close to 200 and the least under 125. I was banded 4-24-09 in Mexico. Some people might think I am crazy but I want to keep it off this time! Had my first fill 6/8 9cc in a 10cc band. Think I have restriction. Going back to have band checked 6/22 (for my peace of mind) I get my fills local, live in the Northwest. Can you relate? If so would like to a buddy to share this journey with.

I made the now mistake of not telling anyone till I was leaving (I went to Mexico). I wish I had kept it to myself! I am still not sure it would have a made a difference if I had told them earlier. My DD#1 still has attitude, and my sister who is my very best friend seems to have written me off (we don't live close but used to talk everyday). I heard "You have lost weight before" "You don't need to do that" (yes but I gained it all back + more sooooooo many times-I am done!) They don't live in my body. I had surg 4/26/09 and I am still learning about how to eat but I am committed. When I went for my first fill the RN (who has a band herself) said "You never have to gain the weight back" That is the #1 reason I decided to have a lapband. I am very hopeful this will work for me (only time will tell). emjay, The bottom line is you live in your body, most people are so self centered they won't notice you are eating smaller amounts! I am looking into a thigh lift. My legs have always been so flabbly. I can never find pants to fit right. (Got to lose some weight first!) starting my journey, first fill 6/8. Planning ahead, save some $, thinking of Mexico but I am concerned with aftercare. T.

I too had my band placed 4/24. I am totally back to my old habits! Haven't been able to get a fill yet. Good news my first fill is tomorrow. I am so ready to get some restriction. Since I paid for my band at this point I feel like I wasted my money. If I could stay on a diet I wouldn't need the band!!!!!!! will keep you posted... T.
