Hi Angela, Im in Palo Alto and due to be banded on Tuesday, there are 3 other recently banded local ladies on here. If you check the local groups - click USA, California, Palo Alto you will find our thread there Jenibeni, diamond girl and another one I can't remember. I researched for just over a year and started the process in March. Let me know if you have questions. -
welcome! That is so cool you are going thru this with your sisters!

How long did you take off work?
TinaM replied to brat7169's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my doc requires Clear liquids for one week following surgery then weeks 2 and 3 are on full liquids. He also give you a note for two weeks off so you can rebuild strength and energy since you will be on a liquid diet. I have been given a restriction to not lift anything over 10lbs for 2 weeks and then nothing over 25lb for 7 weeks after that. My parents are coming in to take care of me and my dog(over 10lbs) basically. They want to be here and I want them here, everything is better when I have my parents around me. My mom will cook up some mushies and my dad will walk the dog his 3 daily walks which are about an hour each. My surgery is next Tuesday and the followng week is a 3 day week for us so I'm only off work 7 days. Tina -

ae09- for the pureed food time I have a secret weapon - my mom she is coming out for a week after surgery and I'm having her make some things for me- 1. boiled potates with boiled cauliflower and i laughing cow triangle throw it in the blender with a dash of milk its like mashed potatoes with a lil more - 2. cabbage Soup - sort of ....boiled cabbage, beef broth and grilled onion all run thru the blender with salt and pepper 3. veggie medley - got green giant freezer bag - she'll make it up and blender all of it everything will be stored in the freezer in these 1/2 cup glad bowls until I can have it :-)

mercy Clear liquids suck - I even purchased the Isopure clear with 40g Protein no carbs - I have to hold my nose to drink it. So I have run in to a problem I was practicing sipping and chewing but with this isopure stuff I'm full on chugging with my nose pinched and then I chase with decaf tea. The good news is - it fills me and keeps me energized. Since my appt Monday I'm down 3.5 so I'm deterimined it needs to be atotal of 5 lbs by Tuesday. Oh and to boot - its raining hard here so walking has been hard. My dog is sitting on the couch wondering what the hell I'm doing walking thru the house for exercise! In just 72 hours I'm be in my hospital room after surgery.

Hi- new and with some questions
TinaM replied to gottadance's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well you certainly MUST make changes - that is what this is all about. If you must have a plate of spaghetti once a week that will no longer happen. Your stomach goes from the size of a football to the size of an egg. My instructions from my surgeon and his team are: 2 months post surgery 2-4 oz of food per meal Protein first and it must account for at least half the meal then produce, then starch by 18 months post surgery- 8 - 10 oz per meal still at least half protein, then produce, then starch also check the food nutrition thread on here. I know I am done with sandwiches - there is no way I can handle the bread, Peanut Butter is completely out along with most nuts. I've been advised to never drink out of straw again. Absolutely no sodas, no carbonated drinks and no alcohol. I've seen others post diffeerently on this so you need to go by your surgeons advice. It was made clear to me that as little as two drinks of wine will register me over the drinking/driving limit. I was told to absolutely avoid alcohol for at least two years and be very careful there after (I rarely drink so its not a biggie) Tina -
