  1. I know how you feel, I got banned 13 months ago and have only lost 47 pds. I still have 70 pds to go. So I too am frustrated. I throw up a lot. Even on soup. Eating the right foods is hard when even lettuce make me hurl. I spent a lot of money (my own cash, no insurance) on this and really feel jipped!! The only positive thing I can say is that at least the scale isn't UP 47 pds cause that is the track I was on. So I feel blessed that way..but still frustrated. I've been working out off and on through out the last 13 months too.... Try and stay positive and look at the accomplishment rather than the finish line. Good luck to you!

    Plateau anyone?

I hope you are feeling better!! I too was banded June 5th 2009. I have lost 37 pds. and I fluctuate with 3 pds. as well. I don't know why that is and or how to break that. I just keep telling myself that I am making progress and it's not about the numbers so much as it is how I feel about me and how my clothes fit. (clothes falling off is always good!) Hang in there....and good luck!

    30 Pounds later....

Hi all! Wanted to share some before and 3 months after pics with everybody. Take a look. This band journey is a strange thing.:cursing: One day I can eat and the next day 2 bites will do me at one sitting. Throwing up has been more of a common thing than I thought it would be. Still a little bruised feeling at the port site  and have had more gas in the last 3 months than EVER before. :cursing: I go in next week for my 4th fill. And I am going to ask about these issues. Total wieght loss has been 30 pds! :cursing: For once in my life the scale is going down not up!! I'm lovin it! :cursing: Can't wait till the next 30 pds goes away. Then I feel I will REALLY see it! And that's when others will really see the true effects of the band~! :smile2: I had a lot of "bulk" on me and that's the 30 pds that's missing! :cursing: If you have any suggestions or props, let me know. Always love to hear from you.

    scaredy-cat

Hi...well I had my LB on 6-5-09 I have lost 30 pds...however, if I were to do it again I would take my regular MD's advice and have the gastric bypass...just cause I think it would be easier now and in the long run...but, having had the LB...I do experience stomach pain, right under my left rib cage...hurts to breath in. But, I can handle it. I know it's not life threatening and after time will disapate. I lilke what "imaluckydog" said...she eats small to be small...I would like to incorporate that into my life. I can tell you that for me, it took about a solid 10 days to get back into the basics of things...not the swing of things..that took more like 20 days. Read my blogs...it's all there. What ever you decide good luck to you...I hope you get the desired results you are looking for. Oh, PS....I paid outright for my surgery....I had no insurance coverage for this..if I would of gone with gastric the insurance may have covered it..... Just so you know...

I am sorry to hear of you heartache! I know for me when I lost my mother after she battled Alzheimer’s for years I was ready for her to have comfort and peace. To go home and be with our loved ones. She deserved that. I guess I got to that point...But I was also able to be the daughter. I can't imagine being the lead in the situation. Bless you. I will keep you in my prayers and congrats on your achievement with your weight loss!!
  18. Hey! I have had the same experience with the LB. I was banded on the 5th of June, got my first fill on the 14th of July and going back in on the 21st of July for my second fill. I like you, just don't feel it. Occasionally I will get a PB or that air bubble in my chest like you talked about (and that is painful!) but nothing really too much to write home about. I can eat like before. Not as much tho. I have to watch out for bread. That can cause some trouble. I too hope that my sweet spot is found on Tuesday cause, I want to be at 160 by christmas!! :-)

Thanks for your post! Good luck to you!

  19. Hey Sarah

Thanks for your feedback! It helps to know that I am not the only one going through the hills and valleys! I really appreciate the support and advice. You're right, I have noticed that I am tighter some days than others. Those are GOOD days! Whoo Hoo! I am going in to get another fill on Tuesday ( I called my doc and he said yes, go ahead and get another fill) I am hopeful that will give me an advantage. I was too test for borderline diabeties. I will keep an eye on that....Thanks again Sarah!!!

40 Days After Surgery and 2 days after 1st fill~ Posted 07-16-2009 at 10:52 PM by kris c Tags Been awhile since I got on here. To catch up, I am down some 24 pds! I have had a couple of PB's. :cursing: On Tuesday I got my first fill. Not more than a poke; and it was done. Drank the barium and they were able to tell it all went down well and I was out of there after a glass of water. I felt the tightening as she injected the saline. I thought, oh GOOD, I will once again lose my hunger like the first 3 weeks. HMMMM....but that didn't happen. Yes my food intake is somewhat controled, BUT I am getting hungry. Hungry like before the band. With the stomach gurgling and lightheaded. What's up with that? I have been so hopeful! And ...my port or what ever it is that they inject the needle in is (after two days) swollen, sore and poking out. Is that normal? I sound like I am complaining...really I am not...but I spent my own money on this...Insurance didn't cover a dime of it. My husband is like what is up with you being hungry after we just spent 15K for you NOT to be hungry like before. :cursing: I know I can not eat like I ate before, thank GOD! But, on the doctors websites and some people on here boast (and rightful so..if it works for you that is AWESOME! Boast and boast some more...I am sure I will be there sooner than later! please God. :cursing:) of losing 80 + pds in 4 months. I just feel like I am missing something or do something wrong....I had a bmi of 42 when I started this some 40 days ago. I went to the nutrisionist on Tuesday right before my first fill. She had me breath into this machine to measure my metabolism. She said it was right where it needed to be and suggested I put my servings of protein and produce on a saucer for each meal. Does any one else adhere to this type of disipline and structure? She said no starch either. ? Can that be? :cursing: I know a lot of questions and I am praying some of you bansters out there will help me out! PLEASE HELP! :cursing: Thanks K
