Christmas Weightloss Challenge
sherryact2 replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it is offical met goal. Had dr. appointment today and down to 198 1 lb. less than goal. He was so excited he hugged me. So I am now smaller than I was at 17 which is hmm well at least 35+ years ago. Merry Christmas to ALL. Hoping all are reaching goals and if not dont beat yourself up because I am SURE all are doing the best they can for today! We are SUPER or we wouldn't have got the band in the first place. It takes a courageous person to step out in unknown territories. God bless! -

Count me in! I want to lose 12 lbs by then. I wanted Onederland for Christmas and dr. says he believes Santa will bring me what I want. I have been a good girl LOL. God bless ALL for all the efforts of NOT eating the "junk" or revising anyway. -

And this is why I'm only telling a few people...

I really believe that suppot is VERY important. My dr. had me sign a paper stating whether I did or didn't have adequate family support. I also decided to get professional one on one help for awhile to help the rough times. I also plan to attend the support group meetings that they have monthly. It is REALLY nice to get family and freinds to be there BUT when not PLEASE look elsewhere. I pray the best for you in your journey. Sherry -
Mental Breakdown!
sherryact2 replied to lovelytxlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can certaintly relate to the crying episodes and all the mental "stuff". It was constant for about 2-3 weeks and then subsided BUT occasionally rears it's head again. I have been told a lot was the anestia (sp) I think it played apart along with ALL the other issues. I had surgey on 9/23 and still get those feelings when doing something new. We will make it I am sure.Take care -
List of October Bansters
sherryact2 replied to heyred1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Tory I felt restriction too and couldn't figure it out. But surgeon told me that it was swelling from surgery. I was never hungry until week 3 and decided to stay on full liquids b/c felt good there. Oh I had tried a boiled egg and it didnt feel like it went down right. So:thumbup: I decided for me best to not have fill and am waiting 2 more weeks to adjust. I felt I needed the strength before moving on. I had surgery on 9/23 and down 29 lbs. Best to you and keep me posted. -
Welcome ! I started here late Feburary or early March and learned all I could from those that had already been where I wanted to go. The information was a big help in making the decision. I asked alot of questions before deciding. I had my lap band surgery on September 23 and have lost around 30 lbs. I went home the same day (that was a surprise) and had mild pain but nothing as expected. I am still learning how to deal with the "changed me" but I am sure glad I took the time to learn before doing. It is life changing for sure. Best to you

sherryact2 replied to heyred1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really think you made the right decision. You will go through surgery just fine BUT the better you feel before the easier it will be once done. God bless. :wink2: -
Call your dr. I cant beleive that is all you have had since surgery. I was feeling similiar with 0 energy and dr. said to drink Gatorade because I wasnt getting any calories. I also did do a few Isopure and they have about 160 calories taste FAIR and the protein can give you some energy. I am now 13 days post op and STILL am not to normal although I am older than you lol. From day 7 on I have been on tomato soup cottage cheese, a few other boring stuff but enough to at least keep movin. Thursday I start "regular" food and NOT looking forward to it. The appetite is really not there. It is truly a NEW journey and we will make it and be successful.

List of October Bansters
sherryact2 replied to heyred1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not experienced that burning while moving around. You didnt mention how long ago surgery was. Now that I am 12 days post op I have noticed a slight stinging at incision sites and feels like it is the healing. I also notice where the port is I get an uncomfortable feeling when I move a certain way but it is very minmal and from what I have read not uncommon. When in question call the dr. I really believe this. They are able to put our minds at rest and THAT is part of the healing. The very best to you on your journey.:frown: -
List of October Bansters
sherryact2 replied to heyred1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Congratulations on your journey! I had surgery on the 23rd of Sept. and had to do the pre op diet. I didnt try a lot of different ones only 3 but I liked the EAS brand got it at Walmart for $4.97 and had coupons for $2 off and drank 7 a day. I liked the dark chocolate fudge didnt care much for the strawberry and the french vanillia was so - so. I did get headaches on day 2 and nurse told me it was withdrawls from carbs so I took Tylenol no help and then drank diet sodas ( which I hardly ever do) and that helped. From day 3 on I had more energy than I knew what to do painted bedroom, cleaned windows and closets. The house was sparkling for surgery time. I pray the best and a quick recovery. -
baby bandster with questions
sherryact2 replied to luvmykidz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was banded on the 23rd and was really surprised to find I really didn't want food. My dr. was adamant about beginning clear liquids on day 2 and post op 1 week the cream soups, sugar free pudding, etc. like most others do. Oh cant forget that GREAT baby food. I have done food enough but I have drank protein shake 1-2 a day and find those to be all I need but dr. says NO my stomach needs to get use to food. The weirdest thing is I get nauseous smelling food when cooking. I had to go outside when husband fried potatos and sausage. My mouth started watering and all didnt last long I am glad of that. As far as weight loss I am losing inches have dropped a size but still have swelling where the incisions were made and havent notice but a 2 lb weight loss. My dr. said this is normal and not to worry. Hang in there it is going to get easier!
