are you addicted to starbucks frappucinos too? then try this!!!
Bettina replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hmmm... and you weren't being rude a few posts ago when you advised to get the facts straight? I made quite a bold statement against Starbucks and just wanted to explain why I said it.....in no way do I think that others shouldn't drink Starbucks...its my personal thing..I am not sorry I feel that way. This is a forum and forums are to post people's opinions. Last time I checked I am a person. (sounds rude, didn't mean it too, couldn't think of another way to say it) And yes, this forum was about Starbucks and no other company...that was not a rude thing to say. I am sorry if you were personally offended that I don't like Starbucks...but I won't apologize for not liking them. -

Yes, I agree, but it goes deeper than that ....but again, this is just my opinion, I never said i hate people who drink starbucks....my own sis does, I don't repremand her for it. As far as Paul mentioning other companies...no doubt they are out there, but this thread was only about Starbucks...i guess he didn't realize that. -

Hey Paul, this is just my opinion, not yours. Don't preach until you know the facts yourself. -

Paul, it would seem that you didn't read the whole article yourself. Starbucks did not donate coffee to the troops! I copied and pasted this from the middle of the article, it would seem that the employees donated their allotment of coffee. "However, while it is true Starbucks as a corporate entity could not have donated coffee to java-seeking Marines, it would have passed along such a request to any number of its employees who are looking for military mailing addresses to send product to, as it has already done on many occasions. Starbucks partners receive one pound of free coffee each week as an employee benefit (known as "partner mark-out"). Many of them have elected to send their weekly mark-out to members of the military or military families, and related organizations." I thought you should as you said....know the facts. -

Okay I will never try to like Starbucks! I go back to my original idea..that Starbucks sucks. Between 9/11 and the war....big company like that and they can't help out just a little....ugh makes me sick. (stepping down now..lol) edit: My dad served 24 years in the armed forces....he told me once that the reports that the Red Cross was out there giving coffee and Water to the soldiers during conflict....................so untrue! Red Cross never came out once. ugh what is wrong with these people!!!!! -
They decide when they look at your stomach....it all depends on how much fat is around the stomach...although, I have seen that some doc's remove the fat just where the band is going....too bad they can't take all the fat out huh?! LOL

Hello all, Since a lot of people have nutrition questions I decided to look in my books (don't laugh---I am certified in: Sports Nutrition, Holistic Health, and Personal Training). Here is a tip: Add one tablespoon of molasses in milk for "taffy milk" it is a fair source of potassium, Calcium, and Iron in it!!! (use skim---low fat-high protein)...if you use Brer Rabbit brand you get a boost of 1 gram of protein!!!!!! Yay!! *****Also, be careful of your salt intake...it has a direct effect on your calcium absorption!!!!*******

Another hint: Clams are not only a good source of Protein....but Zinc as well....Zinc aids in the healing process. Chopped clams in a little Pasta...(maybe even chop the pasta) should go down fairly well.
-
Hi, no hair loss is strictly from lack of Protein. Your body has enough stores of protein for about 3 months....when you aren't getting enough to replenish it, your body uses it for energy and hence the hairloss. (this is why hairloss starts at about 3 months out)...you can't prevent the hair loss totally but you can slow it down....getting as much protein as you can. Darker oiler fish is an excellent source of protein, salmon, blue fish, albacore tuna, sardines. Clams are good too because they also have Zinc which is good for healing!! Refried Beans, eggs, tofu...some other good ideas. cheese is good but frankly too much fat, and it can constipate you so I don't even think I'll be doing the cheese thing...lol.

ha ha ...I can clear that up. CM is the measurement of the size of the actual band....CC's is the measurement of how much liquid it can hold. Most women have a 10 cm band .....larger men can be given 11cm band...it has to do with how much fat is around the stomach. (scary)

Wow Candy, what an ordeal!!! I am so glad you go her though!! She is so lucky to have you!! My sis was sitting on pins and needles for a whole year (Pennsylvania) to see if the 16 yr old-got married before the birth-to the birth father-because she is catholic--was gonna come knocking on the door and take the baby back. Thank goodness she never did! I can't imagine my family without Krystal (Kristi) or as she used to call herself "Kippy"...lol. Don't feel bad about leaving her during work...truth be known, when they are young like that they don't need you as much as you think....its when they reach the teens that they need you...that is when i quit my job, when the oldest became teens and i was afraid of the influence of the neighborhood...it was difficult (never had been a stay-at-home-mom) but I can tell you that they are wonderful, loving, considerate teens today!! (the 9 yr old...hmmm....she is either gonna be a Rhode Scholar or a serial killer, she is on the fence.....LOL)

I read today that the bigger band allows better restriction over time.....you know, the more room you have for restriction the more they can add to it to make it tighter! Also, they use different size for different size stomachs .

Nah i think they are going to the Guiness Book of World Records....lol

Surgery This Friday - Getting Scared

GonnaDoIt, I just referred to my book on lapbanding (i stole it from the doc's office...shhhh don't tell) and it said that there was not one case in the United States of death during or right after lap banding!! Yay!!! I understand you being nervous...that is perfectly normal! Just remember these doctors aren't willing to risk their licenses in a law suit, they are gonna make sure that you can handle surgery!!!!!! Best wishes and we will all be hearing all about it when you get home!!!! -
You are gonna love it!!!! The portability is awesome! I am sitting in the livingroom as I type this...my pc is in my bedroom (with the wireless connected to it)...son is in his room on his pc......wireless connection too....one box and we can all be online at the same time.....i take this to my sisters and can log in as well ...at college its all wireless, i just carry my laptop around class to class. When my desktop died, i hooked my printer up to this and did my taxes...just make sure you get the wireless card built into your laptop/notebook....so cool!!

I'm thinking she must mean restriction when she says reduction.

It was very noble of you to come forth but totally unnecessary as we didn't know who the mystery PM'er was. You are entitled to your opinion and shouldn't feel the need to explain yourself. Donna seemed hurt by what she took out of it and the rest of us were consoling . I do have to say that maybe short and sweet would have been a better response therefore not to be taken out of context. (some people take it as preachy) and again, you don't have to explain yourself...this is just an observance.

I said the same thing....stress comes in many forms. I am a happy person too...go with the flow. It took a visit to the ER and to a cardiologist to finally understand. (of course my comment isn't intended to blow off someone's symptoms...I was just giving a different perspective) Best Wishes!!

I knew all about that...I still boycott them....I don't care that they got reimbursed or not, fact is fact...there was a major crisis and they acted like business as usual. Nothing was usual that day. I have given free beverage and/or food to people in an emergency (not nearly as big as that obviously) I didn't care about the consequences....if I would have been working in that Starbucks that day......that water money would have come out of my wallet and gladly..I would have never thought twice about it. Starbucks are money grubbers....they charge much more than any other coffee company. My sister still gets coffee there...I don't care, I don't preach to her about not going there. This is the way I feel and I am entitled to feel that way. It doesn't bother me that you feel that they are not evil, you are entitled to feel that way. If you read my first post on the subject, you'd see that I said I try to like Starbucks...and that I just can't. -
Its stress.

I have never heard of a death by banding...don't worry you'll be fine. look at all the people here who have had it done, and they are still here posting! Go to Obesityhelp.com and look at all the people there...you can pick your state and you'll be amazed how you are not alone! I would go check your paperwork though, if you have a diet to follow they tell you that for a specific reason! Best Wishes!!!! -
http://www.walkfromobesity.com/locationmap.php there are several in PA I didn't know where in PA you were from...best wishes!
