    Protien Shakes??

I like the CarbSolutions shakes I get from Drugstore.com. They are just a tad chalky but that's because they also have a lot of nutrition in them aside from the protein, but I like them a lot. They're sweetened with sucralose (Splenda).

    soft cheeses on mushy stage?

Smoked Gouda is freakin' awesome. The Laughing Cow cheeses are softer, but as long as you mush up the cheese in your mouth really well, it's fine.

    Day OF and AFTER surgery?

Generally you don't get nearly as hungry after the surgery as you would be right now, but everyone is different. Two weeks of liquids after surgery was much easier for me than the two days prior to surgery.

    Pre Op Jitters!! Help!!

I was in the same boat as the OP albeit in my 30's. No prior surgeries. Honestly, the worst part for me was getting the IV which really wasn't that bad. The surgery itself is cake. They let you sleep through it. Oh, and for me there was no "drifting" to sleep. My anesthesiologist asked me if I liked Las Vegas and when I said yes, I woke up after the surgery was over. As for nausea, many surgeons will give you something before surgery as they really don't want you throwing up or heaving after. My main discomfort after surgery was being dry the first few hours. I couldn't drink enough Water. Your surgeon will prescribe some liquid pain medication, but I'd be surprised if you use more than a few doses of the stuff.
  7. Numbing isn't offered with my surgeon. I got my first fill a week ago. My surgeon is quick, to the point and does the fills himself. I didn't feel the initial needle insertion at all. I felt what you would stretch to call a "pinch" once when he was looking for the port and he called that an "ugly" adjustment since he had to look around a little. If that was "ugly" then I don't think it will be an issue going forward. It was definitely much worse in my mind before the fill.

    Full Liquid diet post op.

The only problem I see is that cooked eggs don't liquify at room or body temperature.
  9. I'm doing well, thanks! Started full liquids yesterday and I must say it is a nice change.
  10. High Blood Pressure.

Surgery date is 7/8/09, very nervous

Hi. I just got my band yesterday and was in pretty much the same boat as you. I'd never had surgery before. I can tell you that it really wasn't that bad at all. I was up and walking within 30 minutes of getting out of the OR. Your experience may vary, but it really was nowhere near as bad as I had it pictured it in my head. PB = Productive Burp So you burp and stuff comes back up. I'm not clear on what would cause this, but I'd assume it has something to do with eating a little too much. I haven't had the privilege yet, but I think we all do at some point.
  12. Well, I got it. Yesterday was a little rough but the liquid Lortab took the edge off. Today I'm feeling much better and as promised, I'm not hungry which is a good thing since I'm clear liquids for a few more days followed full liquids, then soft foods, etc. The worst part has been crushing up my HBP medication so I could take it. Disgusting. Hopefully, I won't need it too much longer. The doc said my liver was a bit big which I don't understand since I thought I followed his instructions to the letter. I guess I was doing something wrong though. Oh well, it wasn't bad enough for him to pull out luckily.
  13. Well, I'm not really even hungry. It's weird. I do keep walking by the fridge though wanting to pull something out of it besides JELL-O.
  14. I foresee a lot of sugar free JELL-O and popsicles. Thanks!
  15. Starting my two day Clear liquids pre-op diet tomorrow. Not looking forward to that, but I don't think I'll have a problem considering the horror stories I've heard about liver bruising and bleeding. I've been eating low carb for six weeks, so I should be okay. Anyways, nice to meet everyone and I look forward to future threads! :grouphug: Surgery Date: June 11th, 2009 Dr. Cywes Jacksonville, FL
