    Slower Progress

Hi! I just turned 55 yesterday so I feel a renewed effort to continue on my new journey of weightloss. I don't exercise regularly (bad knees) and I know that may lead to some of my plateau but I do continue to seek protein first when eating and sometimes give in to that mint chocolate chip ice cream ==but only a bit to settle my taste buds! I have lost almost 100 pounds so I am VERY happy with my lapband. I haven't had complications once my fill was tweaked to it's potential...and I am so happy. I am the only one who knows that I had this procedure as my significant other was no support at all. Those who work with me just know I was observing portions and content...and because the weight loss was a slower speed, no prying personal questions had to be fielded. At that time, I wasn't sure I'd be successful and didn't want that humility again, therefore, my secret. I wanted to be thinner. My twin and I were opposites and the comments of 'skinny and fatty' were just hurtful. Now we share clothes and life is good. Hope you're still seeing success - no matter the speed of change!!
  3. rkimom is right on! You may also want to invest in a lap band cookbook to help you eat healthier when craving. Your food choices will make a difference....I was banded oct 2010 and really watched what I ate in the beginning and tried to exercise through the winter...at that time,my insurance covered my monthly /tri monthly visits with my weightloss clinic for fills and evaluations/charting. Now, insurance has changed and I no longer visit. (nor need fills yet) I feel satisfied as long as I start my day with the protein drink and eat one packet of instant oatmeal during my workday (no access to lunchroom). I don't walk everyday but when given the option, I'll park a bit farther and take the long way to walk somewhere. When you're feeling the need to eat...perhaps that would be a good time for a protein drink or bar. chewing extra long was a good technique too. Good luck my friend!

    Diet Pepsi/ carbonated drinks

Hi. I was told that the bubbles tended to make you feel full and wouldn't allow the proper protein/nutritional intake. They suggested that if a pop was truly needed, to let it go flat and you'd still have the flavor. I know mucous can be a problem at times for me but I can cough it out. glad to hear you're doing well. flower6 aka kathy

    Problems with fill

I'm just getting around to looking at this....did you call your doctor? I see this is from May, but have you been able to avoid hiccups yet? I can't see where exercise would have any effect on a fill...I would say you should have called the doctor as perhaps they could be able to remove a small portion of your fill to alleviate the side effects. I had received an overfill to the point that I was vomiting nearly every meal....but that has been fixed now. Hope all is well.
