Welcome! Have you had to follow a pre-op diet? If so how is it going? Are you staying overnight or outpatient?
-
Welcome! Check out our September thread. You can find others being banded on the same day, and hear stories of what all of us being banded in Sept are going through. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=22421

Good luck to our Thursday, 9/7 bandsters: bibytz, kristyinusa, sunnshyne411, MICHELLE43, and cassandra. I'm sure everything will go great! Are you staying overnight or outpatient?

I love this post! What memories it brings back. My husband and I started dating in college at age 19. While it was fun and exciting, neither of us expected that would be together for the long term. We are now 37, and have been married for 14 years. I think what worked for us is what many other posters said: enjoy time together, with your friends and even by yourself. College is when you really start to define who you are. You don't want to only define yourself as a couple, you need to be your own person too. Don't sell yourself short. It's OK to be treated well, and have a guy go out of his way for you. While it might be different from what you experienced in the past, you are worth it.

What post op eating schedule does your Dr. have you on? Mine requires a week of liquids. No mushies until week 2. Are you drinking Protein? Are you still taking pain meds or tylenol?
-
Mallorie, Thanks for the details. I'm happy everything went so well. How are you feeling 24hr later?
-
Wow!! 5 viewing the VA forum. We're even running ahead of MD.

My lengthy (and somewhat) detailed journey of being banded.
want2lose replied to JamesA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for sharing details so quickly. I loved the part about the fruit basket. I'm still just amazed at how fast they do the surgery! -
Glad to hear all went well. What time was your surgery and when did you get to leave? Did anything surprise you?
-
Good luck to our Wed, 9/6 bandsters: Ashlee, Cole, Kathy S, Gfdf52, r2ht4u. I'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow. Keep us updated!
-
What brand of unflavored Protein are you using? Thanks everyone for the update. I'm glad to hear no one has had any issues.
-
Congrats!!!! It sounds like things went very smoothly. Please share more details when you are feeling up to it. We want to know everything!
-
Best of luck tomorrow to our 9/5 bandsters: Em1125, kittylover54, mcw12985, chabutter. Let us know how it goes. WE WANT DETAILS!!!!!

Welcome avasa! I added your date to the board. Bettina, HELP!!!! My nutritionist told us to make sure we use whey isolate. Do you think that it really is a problem? I started down the carnation instant breakfast route after another thread convinced me it would be enough protein. When I loaded the info into fit day I freaked out over how many carbs I drank. I need to go shopping tomorrow for a new alternative, but feel lost and don't know what to get. I've been searching for beneprotein, because I've heard it truly is tasteless but I can't find it anywhere.:help:

Would papaya enzyme help, or is that primarily for stuck protein?
-
WOW! Those are very interesting statistics. Quite a case for WLS.

I thought it was my computer! I finally got back in through history. What a pain. I would hate to think it was someone that used to care about LBT that would be so malicious. I'm just going to think it is some random hacker. I really feel for those who have been banned. I think things just spiralled out of control for all those involved. As a newbie, this has been such a valuable site. I don't know if I would be getting banded this month if it wasn't for all the things I learned here. I't hard to imagine that a banned person would want to take this site away from those of us that really need it and use it to talk and learn about the band.

Our nutritionist told us they will bring 3 plastic shot glasses with Water, broth, and juice. Hard too imagine 3 shot glasses being enough!

cindyn, My surgeon says a low carb/high protein diet is what you need to shrink your liver. The liquid diet is also usually high protein (depending on what you drink ) but will usually lead to more pre-op weight loss and make sure the stomach is empty for surgery. I know for me the liquid week post op will be very hard, since I'm struggling with my protein drinks now. I'm using these last 9 days (OMG 9 days!!!) to find protein I like, and reduce carbs, but I'm not brave enough to try to live off liquids yet. If I could just sleep through the entire 1st post op week and miss most of the liquid phase I would be thrilled! I agree that a smaller liver being clamped back would probably be less painful for recovery then an oversized one.

Stephanie, We'll be thinking of you on Monday. I can't wait to hear how it all goes. Enjoy Mexico. When do you come home?
-
Do you like V8? That could be a nice change in flavor even if it is a favorite. Here is the liquid list my nutritionist gave me: Water Protein supplements skim milk V-8 low fat yogurt SF/FF pudding SF jello Strained soup / broth Hang in there...you are doing great!!!
-
You are doing so well! I wish I had your willpower! I'm still not quite as strict on my high protein diet as I should be. I'm trying different protein supplements to find my favorites. I need to visit gnc today for an unflavored one.

Great job Karen getting the OK. I know what you mean about having a long way. I try to plan mini goals, ie when we go to Calif in November I hope to be down 20 lbs and I hope to be down 50 lbs by Valentines day. I have an excel spreadsheet that graphs average weight loss, so I can predict what I will weigh when. I'm a bit of a statistics nut.

How long did you keep your stitches covered?
want2lose replied to ginger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tricia, How are your scars? My surgeon also does internal stitches with steri-strips. I will be banded on 9/12, and was curious how this effected scars. -
My DH keeps asking me what I'm going to need from him after I'm home from the hospital. I keep telling him not much... a ride home from the hospital would be nice, but I hope to bounce back pretty quickly. How did everyone else do their first 2 days home from the hospital?
