    Do you drink soda?

My nutritionist told me not to drink caffeine because it stimulates your appetite. I used to drink tea every morining, so that was a challenge. I have found some caffeine free tea that I like, but I only drink it occasionally.
  2. I was banded on 7/16/2009 and I have been following my Protein requirements to a "t", about one month after surgery I noticed this sweet soft odor, but it took me until 2 weeks to figure out what it was. I smell just like the Protein shakes I drink! I have asked a couple of close friends and husband, they say they cannot smell it. However, I can no longer wear Michael Khors perfume (does not mix well with protein smell), it makes hubby sick!:tongue_smilie: Has anyone else experienced this?

    Wii fit anyone?

I love my Wii fit plus, I do at least 30 minutes each day. I love the aerobics and stepping. The yoga is challenging but I try to do a little of that each day to warm up. I live in a cold area so it is a good way to exercise in inclement weather.
  4. Stephanie you are funny! I saw your response when I was at work and I laughed and laughed!
  5. At 3 weeks, I was down 10 pounds. When I started solid foods, my weight loss stopped, then it started again. I was worried that I was loosing weight too slowly, When I went back for my last fill (three months post surgery), I had lost 24 pounds and my doctor was very happy, they said I had lost an average of 2 pounds per week and that's what they want. I left the appointment on a cloud! I'm still lossing about 2 pounds per week and I feel good about that. Let your body heal and make good food choices, you will lose and feel good.
  6. I just tell people the truth. So far they have been very supportive. They want to know how they can do it! If they act "funny" I just don't discuss it with them anymore.

    Do you drink soda?

I was banded on 7/16/2009. I used to drink one pepsi everyday at 2:00pm. I have not had one since surgery, I really don't even want one. My surgeon said no soda for 6 months, but I doubt I will ever go back. It's just not good for you and I have beat the craving.
  8. Hi Lashayeb, I am sorry I took so long to accept your offer to be friends. I do not know how to do it? I think I got it now. How is your journey going? I have lost 29 pounds so far and am feeling fine.

  9. Thanks for asking, I am doing fine so far. I have lost 29 pounds and my clothes are all too big! HOw about you?

  10. I was banded on July 14th and I have lost 18 punds so far. I have had 3 fills so far. They seem to work at first and then I don't feel any restriction. I have been operating off wheel power, which is frustrating (why did I have the surgery?). I am going back for another fill next week. Hopefully I will feel restriction for longer than 2 days.
  11. I went for my first fill two weeks after surgery and was not numbed. There was no need even that soon after surgery.

    Any July Bandsters out there?

I was banded on 7/14/09 and I am doing fine except I am having trouble sleeping through the night (gas pains). I have been able to walk everyday since my surgery and drove today. The protein is not really a problem, but it takes me a long time to get it in.
  13. Sure, how are you feeling?

    Any July Bandsters out there?

I was banded on 7/14/2009 everything went smoothly. I am feeling a little sore, sleepy and restless. I am going to walk outside tomorrow. The liquid diet is enough for me right now. I was anxious about the surgery yesterday, so I did not realize that my DH wore a Fat Albert t-shirt to the clinic until after my surgery:ohmy:, then I was too sore to laugh. So now I have to wait a few days to get a good chuckle out about that:lol:. He was also eating cheetos and drinking coke in my room. When the nurse came in and teased him about the t-shirt and the food he was so embarrased:blushing:. He is really not that insensitve he said he was nervous about the surgery too and just picked up the first thing he saw to wear and he was hungry! He has been a dear and so helpful and supportive. He made my surgery a day to remember.

    Travel after surgury

I have been told by my doctor that it is safe to fly two weeks after surgery. Check with your doctor to make sure. I agree with Billoh, see if you can get an aisle seat and take a note from your doctor. Good luck!
  16. I had my surgery yesterday, Tuesday 7/14/09. So far I feel okay, I plan on returning to work on Monday, 7/20/09. However, if I so not feel well, I will take another week. I have a sit down job that does require me to give presentations, and I have 2 scheduled the week of the 20th. I plan on rescheduling those just in case. We will see what happens.
  17. Ok now I am worried, my surgery date is 7/14/09. I will only be off work for one week. I work in customer services and cannot have bad breath:scared2:! I am going to order the Devrom from Amazon today. I have seen Breathe Rx at Sephora, so I will get that as well. I hope one or both works for me.

    ok... getting scared....

LOL - My surgery is on 7/14/2009. I am also pre-mourning all of the fun stuff to eat. Then I start limping around because my knee hurts and I am excited and scared at the same time. I go in tomorrow for my pre-op testing and they are going to put me on a liquid diet. I have considered canceling all day! But I won't I researched this and feel I have made the right decision. You will do fine, I wish you the best. :rolleyes2:

    Alcohol and banding

Thanks to you all for sharing. I was wondering too. I am scheduled to be banded on 7/14/09. I have not started my pre-op diet yet, but I do drink one or two classes of wine a day and sometimes a cocktail on the weekend. I feel much better now. I think I will go ahead and let the cocktails go and limit myself to one glass of wine.

    Starting bmi?

My BMI is 40.8. I do not have any co-morbidities, but was able to obtain insurance approval after submitting a 5 year diet history (tried and failed) and submitting to a psychological exam.
