  3. Hi Shmoopy, Just checking in to see how you are doing? I met with my surgeon yesterday and they told me the same thing, that i should hear from them in two weeks with my surgery date!! I was really nervous because I only lost 7lbs but they said for me to NOT gain a lb and try to lose more, and if all goes well, I should have surgery in late oct, or early nov... How are you feeling? Are you at stage 5 yet? Best wishes...

  4. I meet with my surgeon and nutritionist on thursday( less then 48 hrs). I am really nervous they won't think I am a good canidate because I really didn't lose any of the 20lbs they said I should work on losing ( only about 3 lbs). I was very motivated after the immersion seminar and started the pre-op diet they recommended in a nutrtional folder. I followed it to the "T" for 2 and 1/2weeks at that point i actually lost 7lbs... Then my hubby lost his job and our income dropped dramatically so making ends meet and trying to stay a float took priority and weight loss as well as exercise was on the back burner. I looked on the calender and realized my apt was in less then a week. I stepped on the scale and had gained back 5 of the 7lbs I had originally lost. I started to cry. I am crying now as I type. I don't want the team to think that I haven't committed my self seriously to a change of my lifestyle. But how can they when I haven't lost any of the weight I was supposed too. I don't know what to tell them... I feel like their should be no excuses for me not giving my all no matter what the circumstances and that they will feel the same way and say I am not a good canidate for this surgery. Has anyone out there gone through this before? What was the outcome did you buckle down and lose the weight? Will I be wasting the surgeons time if I keep my apt? Should I keep it?

    Thought not a good canidate?

Hi everyone thanx for the support...Yesterday I went to my appointment. The nutritionist was very understanding and gave me helpful tips on how to be mindful of what I am eating. I was weighed (ugh) and I actually lost 7lbs!!! since last I was there. I then met with the surgeon who answered all of my questions and she said that I was looking at a late October early november date. YAY!! she also said to NOT gain one single pound and if I can lose more that would be great. I am sooo excited now. Best wishes to everyone Eyezchu

    Tufts Nemc???

Anyone get there Band done at Tufts N.E.M.C and if so which surgeon and how did you like the program??
  9. LOL I am suffering from the same syndrome right now!! I will see how the yellow book diet goes and just increase my activity level and hopefully that will help. How long after you met with Dr. Shah did you get your surgery date? Did she have you on a special diet the week before? I have heard other people from different hospitals say they had to do only liquids...I read the weight loss for dummies book too. I wish they had more books on just the lap band.

  10. Hi again, I was wondering you said you lost 9lbs did they give you a specific weight amount to lose? I have to lose 20lbs but have not been doing to well with it and am thinking of doing the meal replacement shakes and bars they recommended in they yellow book. Did you have any special instruction for a pre-op diet?

    Tufts Nemc???

Congratulations on your success. I just started the program and will meet with my surgeon Dr. Kim 9/17/09. I met Dr. Shah during imersion day when she came in to answer questions and she seemed really nice. Did you feel like they were pushing Gastric Bypass? There was two of us there interested in Lapband and the rest of the room was for Bypass. By the end of the day the other person had changed her mind for lapband to bypass. I could just have felt alone lol and am over reacting. How was your hospital stay?Good luck with your journey.
  12. Hi just curious if anyone is looking at a date around that time? I went yesterday for my consult and they said about 3-4 months if I do everything. I started my pre-op diet today they want me to lose 10lbs... 20lbs would be ideal but not to stress the number just start eating healthier.
  13. Hi, This question is for post-op patients. I know everyones different but I was hoping for a scenario of what your day is like with the band at any and all post op stage. Do you prepare all your meals before hand? Do you measure portions? Are your meals completely different from your families? I just want to have an idea of what to expect if there is anything I can do now to start preparing (even though my surgery wont be for a couple of months) for my NEW life. Thanks:smile2:
  14. Glad to hear that your doing well. Congratulations on weight loss so far!!
  15. So true!!! Thanks for everyone's input. Congratulations to all of you success. I am so glad so many people from different post-op stages responded. Great insite with a lot of food ideas I never even thought of... I will certainly try some of them when I finally get to jump on the "Bandwagon" too LOL.

    Who knows about your surgery?

I have started telling the people I trust about it. I have come to terms with my decision and am not embarassed about it, Because this band will help me get healthier and be able to do more stuff with my daughter... Or so I thought... I told my sister yesterday and she said the dreaded phrase " Your taking the easy way out" I was SO hurt that of all people SHE would be the one to say this. Especially because she has been privy to my struggles since my Tweens!!! But to answer your question tell the people you think should know and just be aware that some people wont understand or agree with your decision.
  17. Wow you musst be so excited to have a date... I meet with the surgeon 8/20, I hope i will get a date then too.
  18. Hi ctay, you look amazing!!! Congratulations on your weight loss... Your pictures inspire me. I know everyones journey is different and hard, but seeing your success makes me believe thats its possible for someone like me to achieve my weight loss goal... so thank you.

  19. Stepping out the shower and being able to wrap a regular size towel around me. not a bath sheet!!!
  20. I know, I have to lose 10-20lbs. I started a "diet" Sunday and here it is monday and I am starving LOL. I hope I can lose some weight before my visit with surgeon Aug 20th. I sure I can do the ten.... But maintaining weight loss and following thru has always been an issue for me... Good luck everyone, nice to not feel alone:smile:
  21. OMG, lol with the holidays its gonna be hard. I know someone who got banded two days before Thanksgiving (her fav holiday) and said it was hard but that she was okay because she knew she would have to deal with the temptation.
  22. ....Or Any other store where a size 2 cost so much cheaper then a size 20. Being able to wear a regular size necklace or braclet and not feeling like its gonna choke me or cut off my circulation. the ability to feel sexy, and wear thongs again. Being able to go get a bikini wax and fit on those tiny table/beds.
  23. Hi, I noticed your surgery was done by Julie Kim at Tufts. I am scheduled to meet with her 8/20/09. Just wondering if you still go to Tufts for fills and how your expierence with them has been.

  24. You look so good, You are an inspiration. Congrats on your success.

    650 Pound Virgin

I just finished watching that show I dvr'd it the other night and finally got around to watching it. I hope he finds a nice girl. It was really a sweet show that made me happy that I chose to finally do something about my weight regardless if I am using surgery instead.
