Hi everyone, I was banded 11/9/09. I was very sore for a week and 1/2. I stopped taking my meds after 4 days they made me soo sleepy and loopy. The first few days only could do water, popsicles and broth. I could never finish any of them...I went back to work last wednesday (desk job with lots of getting up and walking to the copier). I lasted a 1/2 day and each day I stayed a little longer (My boss is soo suportive). How has everyone adapted going back to work and lunchtime with co workers or dinner with family? I have stepped on the scale once since surgery and have lost 10lbs!!! (20 counting pre-op) I am 10lbs away from being pre-baby weight which I havent been since 2005!! SInce going back to work I really dont have time to walk as much is anyone else getting in any exercise? -
Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
eyezchu22 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Surgery was 11/9/09 at Tufts Medical Center with Dr. Julie Kim. It was originally scheduled for 11am and I would have to be there at 9am, However a few days before they changed it to earlier the same day... The morning of surgery I got to the hospital at exactly 6:30am. They then had me fill out paperwork and weigh in. They gave me a ID Bracelet. I then had to change into a gown, a robe and booties. They provided a locker for my things. I then was sent to wait in the surgical waiting area until they called my name. I kissed my sweatheart goodbye and I was off. I was told to use the bathroom now if I needed to which I did. I then was led to a curtained alcove where a bed and IV equipment was held. I laid on the bed and was bombarded with questions from different staff. Mostly the same questions were aske. Name, DOB, And what are you here for today? Soon the anesthesiologist came in and he actually started my IV. I was then led to the O.R. My surgen was there and came over in front of me to talk to me and ask if I had any questions, which definately reasured me. I laid down on the other table and streched my arms out on the holders. The anesthesia dr then asked if I drank wine or beer? I told him wine and he said think of this as a glass of wine or two at happy hour and thats all I remember... I woke up in pain and very very thirsty and the nurse was there she aske on a scale of 1-10 what my pain was I said 7 and she gave me something for it. She then fed me a spoonful of ice at a time until I finally told her I could do it myself. My sweetheart was then led in to see me. I was able to use the rest room and given a popscicle which felt like heaven fo my dry throat. I couldnt finish it though. I was then released and was actually home by 3pm. I was happy the ordeal was over. Its been a week and I am still a little sore. It hurts a bit to laugh or cough. But other then that I am starting to feel like myself again. I also have lost 6lbs since my surgery date and altogether 16lbs if you count pre-op dieting. I know it will come off better when I am allowed to start my exercise routine again. I am happy I decided on the lapband ( I actually have the realize). -
I had my surgery on 11/09/09. I went home the same day. since then I haven't really bounced back. I have been mostly sleeping I get dizzy when I try to walk and nauseous when I try any liquids. is this normal? I am supposed to go back to work monday but if I continue this way I don't think I can... anyone else go through this?
