WOW! Ask and you shall receive...
Cherishthepast posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, after my last fill 11/10 I decided it was time to get more agressive and stop the cycle of fills every 8 wks. I went in today (4 wks since last fill) and told the Dr. that we're going to try this MY way and that I wanted a fill. I actually thought that we'd schedule it today as the past 2 fills have been done via flouroscopy (sp?) anyway, he gave me a fill today - I figured 2 or 3 ml would do the trick. Well he gave me 6.6ml :scared2: today and YES, I'm feeling restriction. I can drink just fine and will see how this goes. I only hope this doesn't turn into be careful what you ask for:ohmy:. -

Nope, no problems at all. For the first time, I'm actually full after my meals and haven't had an episode of being stuck, coughing, slimming... -

there's no difference in cc and ml - doctors and pharmacists tend to use the term ml. -
I'm taking swimming lessons and also do the Water aerobics class twice a week. Every Dr is different - with this said, my Dr didn't release me for exercise, sex, lifting over 15lbs... until I was 4 wks post op. So, I didn't start any real exercising until I was released @ 4wks. I did lots and lots of walking right after surgery, which the Dr insisted on. I'd suggest speaking with the surgeon before taking the splash. Have fun.

Some may find the beneficial...
Cherishthepast posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some may find this beneficial... I attended a monthly support meeting/dinner hosted by my Dr last night. This was a very nice affair w/cooking demonstration by the general practioner in his ofice - the food he prepared was both delicious and healthy. The benefit... I spoke with both my Dr and the Dietician - bascially complaining (in a nice way) that I hadn't lost an ounce w/n the past 3 weeks. I recently had a fill (last Tuesday), I'm at 6.2ml(cc's) and don't have any restriction. So, I informed my Doc that instead of returning in 8 wks (his normal schedule), I would see him in 4-6 wks. He didn't argue, just said I'll see you then. Then I spoke with the dietician at length about not feeling restriction and the holding patern I'm currently in. Her suggestion to me was to chew normally, don't chew until the food is mush/liquid... she went on to explain that chewing my food normally would make certain that the food stayed w/n the bad and guarantee that I feel full. She said that chewing as we're all told aids the food in slipping through the pouch and into the stomach - the same premise as slidder foods. This is the first day that I've tried this and so far so good. I actually feel full (not stuck) and very comfortable. I was also told to increase my water intake (which I know is one of my problems) I didn't think of it before, but as the dietician explained that we really need to drink water to help flush the protein through our system. I'm sure that many of you know all this already; for the few of you like me who didn't - I hope you find this beneficial. -
clarification please???
Cherishthepast replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! First I'd suggest you seek clarification from your Dr., you should receive a list of the what is acceptable both pre and post surgery. I had everything that you listed including the Protein shakes and Isopure drinks as the Dr required that I get 100g of protein and limit carbs to no more than 70g each day during the pre-op diet. I also was able to get him to agree to letting me include a creamy Soup for dinner - he only asked that I watch the carbs and calories as they're usuallyl loaded. This is a great site for many things; however, I'd strongly suggest that you contact the Dr's office - that's what the Dr and his staff are for. Wishing you success in your journey. -
How many cc's do you have? How many fills so far?
Cherishthepast replied to tripletmomma2000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I received my 2nd fill last Tuesday 1.2ml, still not feeling any real restriction. The Dr. told me to come back in 8 weeks. Well, I'm taking matters in my own hands now and have scheduled my next appt for 4 weeks. I think that 8wks is a long time to wait. The LAP-BAND®® website says fills should be done every 4-6 wks - needless to say, I'll point this out to the Dr. when I return should he decide to give me any grief. I have a total of 6.2ml in a 14ml band and think that perhaps one more tiny fill may get me to the sweet spot. Crossing my fingers... I'm also kinda down and out these days as I've seemed to reach a plateau - I've been averaging 198-199 for the past 3-weeks. Ready to scream. Sorry for venting. -

smoking and the band
Cherishthepast replied to Mrs.Deering's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a smoker and was banded on Aug 10th. I was told by my surgeon to stop or he wouldn't do the surgery - I tried but didn't succeed. I told him during my preop appt that I would - this was only a few days prior to surgery; wasn't my intent but, I lied. So far I haven't experienced any problems, I smoke about 7-9 cigs a day, much less on days that I exercise. I plan to stop; however, if I want to continue on the path of at least eating right, I'll deal with this vice later. One step at a time... -

Congratulations!!!! -
Okay, I went to see my Dr today - second office visit since surgery. My weight was checked, I'm now at 198 (yippe!) and vitals were done - can't believe my pressure is so low 100/60. Anyway, I received my first B12 shot today and scheduled my second fill for Tuesday 11/10. The injection was given at 1:30 today and I'm not sure if it's all in my mind but I can't seem to sit still. I went grocery shopping, cooked dinner and now I'm baking blueberry muffins (splenda recipe) and still feel like I could actually run a marathon - weird... By the way, I've been up since 6:00am and worked a half day. Okay, is this normal? Should I expect to crash soon?

Vitamin B12
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The shots are part of my Dr's program. Of course the patient can decline taking the shot; however, I want every advantage available to me. Initially, the Dr insists that you take the OTC B12 supplements along with the Multivitamin, and Calcium citrate for the first 3 months after banding - yesterday marked 3 months (few days shy); I'll continue to take the Vitamins and calcium citrate. I feel wonderful - I woke up bright and early this morning w/an actual smile on my face - this coming from someone who's typically not a morning person. I'm not feeling sluggish - my norm. If this is the result of taking B12, I'm definately going to continue. TMI - between my hormone patch and the B12 I feel like a new me. -

Vitamin B12
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The muffins are great. This is the 5th batch I've made since I found the recipe a month or so ago. I actually make them for myself - nice change of pace for Breakfast. However, the family tends to eat them before I get a chance to freeze them - the plan has been to take a muffin to work with me each morning, I'm lucky if I get 3 out of batch (12 muffins). Also, the doc said it was B12 nothing else. I'm really sensitive to meds, perhaps this is how my weird system is reacting to it. -
sounds great. I plan to try this soon. Thanks for sharing.

Cherishthepast replied to formerfatchick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No loss or gain this week. Hmmm, I guess I need to change my eating habits (haven't cheated but find myself eating the same stuff) and get my butt to the gym. -
First question - I'm sure many of you have or had thighs that rub together - like me . Now that they're not rubbing, will the dark coloring fade over time? Also, I'm losing weight; however, it all appears to be coming from my bust and behind. Second question - will the rest of my body finally be in proportion to these shrinking areas? Yes, this may seem like a stupid question to some... Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hello! Sad to say I'm not really exercising. I started taking swimming lessons this week and have made sad attempts w/ the elliptical machine I have at home. Hmmm, I can tell you what a typical day of eating is like.
8:00a - protein shake w/ 8oz skim milk
10:00a - I have either cream of wheat or a boiled egg w/a slice of wheat toast
12:00p - lunch: today I had a crab cake and 1/4 cup of boiled potatoes w/onions and a large apple
It's 3:00p now, I really don't have an appetite but will have 2 rice cakes
Then at 7:00 I have dinner - I always cook, so tonight it will be a chicken stir fry w/a little white rice.
Most evenings before bed I have an Isopure drink (blue raspberry is my current favorite) or a protein shake.

Hi tripletmomma2000 - Congratulations to you too. Doesn't it feel GREAT! -
This may not seem like a big deal to many; but, I'm so very excited!!! I have not been under 200lbs in over 20 years. Always, hovering between 233-227. I can't believe that I'm actually wearing a size 14 pants @ 199lbs - currently I'm averaging a 2 pound loss each week and my goal now is to reach 180 by Christmas.
