  1. Okay ladies, I'm far from my target weight; however, with my weight loss, my thighs aren't rubbing together as they once did. As a result, I swear I now feel that my privates are more prominant. I can actually feel my privates while I'm walking. Nope, never felt this before the weight loss and it's kind of weird to say the least. Please tell me I'm not the only one out there experiencing this.
  2. My last fill was 4/6/10, I dropped 4 pounds over the course of 2 weeks, then stalled. I weighed myself yesterday morning - the damn scale read 184. How in the heck did I go from 180 to 184 in a matter of days? I'm eating the right foods, supplementing w/ Protein shakes (average 60-80g) and keep carbs at bay (less than 40g per day) and keep cals between 1000-1200. After the shock of seeing 184, I decided to take in more liquids (especially water) to see what happens, and last night after spending the day p...ing  I weighed 182. Then this morning 181 - what the heck is happening? Yes, I exercise regularly, Swim 1-hr Tues, Thurs and Sun - focus on weights or cardio Wed and Sat. The last time I saw my dr he suggested Water weight. My feet/hands aren't swollen as if I'm retaining Fluid. Have any ideas? Has this happened to anyone?
  3. Sick and Tired of being Sick & Tired... Realizing that I really want to LIVE and enjoy life and not be limited by weight and joint pain, I decided this was the best option for me. Granted it took me 2 yrs after discussing it with a surgeon to go for it. I'm so very happy that I did. I no longer take meds for BP and I've decreased my chances of becoming diabetic - my mom died of complications from hear disease and diabetes. I'm only half way there, but life is sooo much better.

    help! can't eat enough

I also reached the point that I couldn't stand the smell, my nutritionist recommended that I add extract to the shakes - sometimes, I'd add vanilla, almond or orange to my chocolate and vanilla shakes and it really helped. Also, ask your Dr if you can add some creamy soup to your diet. In moderation, once every other day or so, I'd treat myself to cream of crab soup - yes, with the Dr's blessings... In addition, I'd send DH out to the local vietnamese restaurant to buy soup and I'd strain it and drink the wonderful broth. Hope this helps.

    Memorial Day Challenge Anyone?

Sounds good. I'm currently at 180 and would love to see 170 by Memorial Day. So, I'm going for 10 pounds.

    Sweet Tooth!

Spartan, If doing without any sweetner (sugar or substitute) has created this angry person, I definately plan not to do without. Moderation is key.

    Sweet Tooth!

Yes, I crave sweets and have found healthy ways to satisfy the cravings - there are wonderful recipes on both Splenda and Equals website. I've made Cookies, wonderful blueberry muffins and lemon Meringue pies using splenda. I just make certain that I pay attention to my serving size and the carbs. My family including my 15 yr old son can't tell the difference.

    Isopure Protein Beverage

I like Isopure, my favorite flavors are Mango and Blue Raspberry. I also, like Unjury products, the chicken soup tastes like lipton's instant soup, also the strawberry sorbet is great - I mix this with 12oz of water and crystal light. Try different brands and varieties you'll find what works best for you. By the way, Unjury sells sample packets for less than $2.00 each - give it a try.
  9. I feel your pain. I tried pancakes a few months back, staying w/n the serving size, no butter and ff syrup. All set to have something I REALLY craved. The first bite went down a little hard, the second bite was damn painful. Needless to say, I will never consume pancakes again. I just think of all the wonderful clothes I'll be able to wear over the summer and pancakes are a distant memory.
  10. I experienced the same 2 months post op and went to see the my dr and found that my pressure was 110 - 60. He decided to reduced it from 10 mg to 5 mg - which I did for a week then stopped - I continued to feel like I was going to pass out. It's been over 4 months now with NO meds and on average my BP is 123/60. As the previous posters mentioned, get your BP and blood sugar checked. It's amazing how quickly our bodies respond for the better with weight loss.
  11. Jachut, everything is perfectly fine down there. I've never experienced dryness - thank goodness. DH says everything looks the same . I think that the lips and overall exterior are flabby just like the botton half of my stomach. I guess I need to find an exercise that will work to tighten the flabby skin in that area.

Ladies what do you call your husbands manhood.

I don't call it anything; it "cums" on its own...

    Just had an EPIPHANY!

Hey, I'm with you re: swimming. I find gym equipment boring but found that I love being the Water. I've been taking swimming lessons since Nov 2009 and haven't missed a class. Yes, I can swim now but continue the classes to build up my endurance and more importantly the great exercise. I'm in the pool every Tues, Thurs and Sun. I've recently added Fri, as one of my classmates meets me at the gym for 45 minutes of cardio then we head over to the pool for 20-30 minutes to brush up on what we learned during our classes. I found swimming to be the perfect excercise for me.

    Side Abdomen Discomfort

I had the same discomfort, this lasted (on and off) for the first 3 months. It went away. Honestly, I'd forgotten about it until I read your post.
  16. I'm currently 189lbs in a size 14 (pant, skirt and dress) and now wear a size L top. This from 230lbs and size 18-20 bottoms and dresses and 2xl tops. On average, I've dropped a size w/ every 14 pounds lost.

    do u?

I asked my Dr just the other week if I could have a ginger ale (DIET) as this is the only thing that I truly craved and missed. I explained that I had visions of a frosty glass filled with crushed ice and ginger ale (yes, DIET). Well, he looked at me and said sure but understand that the discomfort may not be worth it. Well, I ran out and bought a 12-pk of seagrams ginger ale (DIET) and got my frosty glass w/crushed ice preparing myself for total satisfaction. Hmmm, it was okay and he was right - the fantasy was truly overrated. The gas pain wasn't worth it. I'm a believer in following my Dr's orders and asking permission of things that I question (that damn ginger ale). Needless to say, I haven't had the craving again and even considering the discomfort it was worth ridding myself of the craving.

    Totally devastated

I really feel your pain. I went to see my Primary Care Dr. today and he asked if I'm cheating... as he expected that I would have lost more weight. I wanted to punch him. My surgeon gave me another fill 2 weeks ago and No, I'm not cheating. I do everything by the book. The surgeon suggested that I walk 30 minutes a day in addition to my current excercise schedule (swimming Tues & Thurs also, cardio and weights on Sunday) to boost the weight loss. I've lost 41 pounds and 3 pants sizes (currently in a size 14) from my previous size 18-20. No, the scale isn't moving as much lately but I see a real difference in my clothing. There isn't a week that goes by that I'm not tightning my belt or hemming my slacks - they seem to get longer and longer as my hips, stomach and behind shrink. Hang in there. We are all doing GREAT!

    Another Protein Drink

Thanks for sharing, I plan to track it down and give it a try. By the way, just curious, how many ounces is in each serving?

    Post Op Second Thoughts

Hello! I'm not a vet but wanted to let you know that the port discomfort will pass. It took about 3 months for me to stop feeling the port when I'd move a certain way or most often while lying down I would get this weird pain/sensation. Now, I don't realize it's there unless I rub my hand over the site. As for the gas pain - WALK. I would walk around my yard for 15-30 minutes (2-3 times a day). I know it's easier said than done but this will ease the pain you're experiencing. Hang in there.
  21. Okay, if I keep telling myself this perhaps it will finally sink into my thick head. I reached a stand still between Nov/Dec and finally lost 3 pounds. Now it's been 5 weeks since my last fill and I've only lost 2 pounds. I eat all the right foods and for the past 2 months have increased exercise from 1 day to 3 days a week - 1 hour sessions ranging from swimming, weight training and cardio. Yep, trying to mix it up so that I'm not bored. I see a difference in the way that my clothes fit, I wear size 16 pants and some 14's. Why in the heck can't I get this @&*#&* scale to more?
  22. Hadn't thought of measuring. I'll try measuring myself and see how it goes. It could also be that I'm not eating enough. This is what I've had so far today. B- choc Protein shake on my way to work plain oatmeal w/splenda upon arrival L- sandwich wrap w/chicken and muenster cheese (my treat for the day) and mustard. Also, had an apple and saving my yogurt for mid-afternoon snack I plan to have another shake at 5:00 before I leave the office to attend my swimming class this evening. Please don't hesitate letting me know if you have any other suggestions. By the way, I've seen your pics and you look great - congratulations on your success. Thanks!!

    anyone NOT losing hair??

My hair is actually thicker and growing faster. I've kept my hair short for years now and find lately that I'm at the barber more now than in the past. My doc told me during the initial consult that as long as I maintained 80g-100g of Protein a day I wouldn't have any trouble with my hair. So far so good.

    Protein post surgery??

Hello! unjury has an unflavored Protein powder. The best way to add this or any other protein to foods is to mix w/a little Water (1-2 oz) first then add it to your food. Also, add after you've cooked the food - I believe it loses some or most of its potency as a result of extreme temps. I drink the various Isopure drinks to get away from the milk based Proteins - I find them really refreshing. By the way, these can be purchased at GNC and various Vitamin shops. remember protein is KEY. Hope this helps.
