What am I doing wrong?? :-(
Cherishthepast replied to iwannabealoser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you chewing well? I mean really chewing your food and taking small bites? If you are, it could be that you need to have a little taken out of your band. You should be able to eat more, your body probably thinks it's being starved. Also, whenever I have a stuck episode, I walk around a bit. Sometimes just standing will help. Hang in there, give the doc a call and see what he/she says. -

Anyone Else Had This Problem
Cherishthepast replied to hocuspocus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same pain (off and on) for the first 5 months or so after banding. It will go away. It only happened when I moved a certain way or sometimes while at the gym. Hang in there, it will get better. -
I scheduled my tt today - Dec. 22nd. Merry Christmas to me! Now the hard part, QUIT SMOKING! I'm going to pick a day and give up cold turkey. I'll probably be the grinch by the time this is all done but it's well worth it. I keep telling myself, I'm healthy now - off ALL meds. To be the total picture of health I need to rid myself of this last vice. I CAN DO IT... Any and all words of encouragement or advice is greatly appreciated.

Scheduled TT...
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks!!! Very good advise, I've printed this out and will start gathering the things I'll need. Actually I think I'll run over to the thrift store and pickup some button down tops in the coming weeks along with some sweatpants. I definately plan to prepare meals before hand, my DH and son will be around but they tend to think of cooking as FRYING everything and I know I wouldn't be able to stomach their cooking. I know I have a couple months; however, I also know that it will be here before I know it. How are things going with you? I read your blog and see that you're already back to work. Also, don't let folks get you down. There have been a few people on this site that have sent me sailing. I actually had one person I swear was stalking me - no matter where I posted a comment she seemed to be there to make a negative comment. I had to step away for awhile and take really deep breaths to keep from losing it. Anyway, I'm babbling now. Again thanks! -

I can't believe that I'm in a size 10, this is the first time in over 20 years. I'm still dealing with this damn plateau, haven't lost a pound in months; however, I've lost a pant size. Yes, I'm all a glow... A year ago, I was wearing 18/20 pants and skirts and 2X tops - I'm a happy girl!

Size 10!!!!
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the "you're not going to lose any more..." all the time and it's getting old. I'm planning now for a TT w/lipo and hear that after that I will possibly go down 2 sizes. Can't wait to get rid of the flab, but what in the heck will they say then - I will probably want to scream at them once that's done. I've been at this dreaded plateau for over 2 months now and can't figure it out. I'm a scale whore (weigh myself once a day) and the blasted thing isn't moving - I'm shooting for a normal bmi and though I'm happy with my current size, it would icing on the cake to lose these last 15-20 pounds. -
fear of situps with the band
Cherishthepast replied to toyrenee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd suggest discussing with surgeon. I was given clearance to resume ALL activities no limitations after 6 weeks. for several months off and on; I've participated in a bootcamp at my gym; this includes running, jumping rope, sit ups, push ups... I will warn you that initially you will feel some discomfort around the port area; however, this will go away in time - it took about 6 months for me not to feel discomfort in port area after strenuous exercise. Again, talk w/ your doc before proceeding. Much success... -

Insurance companies and tummy tucks
Cherishthepast replied to JOJO351969's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My insurance (BCBSMA) covers abdominoplasty (TT), I just received the letter from insurance last week approving the procedure. I've had 4 consults, and will have another (and final) next week before making my decision on surgeons; 3 of 4 are out of the race - didn't care for the attitude of one, the other 2 need to update their website to reflect that they no longer take insurance. It's amazing how they (PS) say what the insurance won't pay. My insurance will pay for the TT and lipectomy ("suction-assisted fat removal") - basically liposuction. -
Banding Oct. 15th When to Buy Supplies
Cherishthepast replied to Timoyal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm anal and starting buying samples of Protein shakes a month before surgery. Just wanted to make certain that I found something that I'd LOVE since I'd need to drink it for awhile. I ended up going with unjury and a year later this is still my favorite brand. I love the chocolate and will have the strawberry sorbet to change things up a bit. The strawberry sorbet is good with Water and a little raspberry lemonade crystal light. My suggestion is that you try a number of products as everyone has a favorite and you may very well hate what they suggest. -
Hate to exercise...
Cherishthepast replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find something that you LOVE:wub: I hate the whole gym thing and wasn't fond of walking... I bought an eliptical - still sitting in my family room gathering dust. Decided I had to find something to get my butt going and decided to take swimming lessons. I've always wanted to learn and decided to give it a try. I've met great people (very encouraging) through the classes. As a result, I was lured into taking boxing with a fellow classmate and we're having a ball. All this said, I found the key was finding something that I really enjoyed doing and have increased my activities as a result. Something as simple as gardening is a good start. -
Size 10!!!!
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANKS!!! It's sort of surreal... I really want to wear my pants inside out to show the size - I know that sounds crazy. I really don't have many people to share these milestones with. My poor DH listens and is supportive, but I really don't think he gets how I really feel. The great thing about this site is YOU get it. Again, thanks! -
I LOVE grits; however, they're now hit or miss. I've had some of my worst stuck episodes trying to eat grits.

Why do people insist on say "you're not planning on losing anymore weight are you?"
Cherishthepast posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a day goes by without one of my co-workers saying "you're not planning to lose anymore weight...?". If I say, I'm shooting for another 15-20 pounds I get a weird look followed by "you're kidding". Has anyone else had to deal with this foolishness? If so, how are youre responding? -

YIPPEE!!! Just received approval from insurance for TT
Cherishthepast replied to Cherishthepast's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks! I have BCBSMA. Give your insurance a call. I called mine and initially thought they would only cover a panniculectomy, then decided to check muscle repair and surprise! I found that they cover panniculectomy or abdominoplasty. I contacted the PS, then sent him a copy of the info retrieved from the insurance site and voila!
