Anybody here have any copies of letters of recommendation that WORKED from your PCP? I talked to my doctor today and he said he'd be glad to write me one and even said if you want to email me what you want it to say, go ahead and I"ll put it in there. Anybody have one? Or know of a site/place that I can get one? If you do, PLEASE let me know. Respond to this post, or email me at fourjtowers@netzero.net

Banded 9/2..feeling good, but have a slight fever..???

I know I had a cold/flu 'coming on' a day or two before my surgery...I could just feel it.. I had my band put on Wednesday, here it is Friday evening and I feel great, and up and about, up and down stairs, breathing deep, etc. I am on Hydrocodone which has acetameniphen (sp?) but even with that, I am running a fever of about 99.8 to 100.1 My discharge papers say to call with anything over 101, which is hasn't hit...but I'm wondering if I should be concerned? The only incision that is giving me a little trouble is the port site...still somewhat tender, and a little red around it, but absolutely no seapage/draining etc... What do you all think? -

I am definitely getting better....took last meds at 10pm last night, 11 hour later my temp was only 99.7 I have a sore throat and bad cough...I guess just perfect timing right after surgery to have a cold! On the surgery side...I'd have to say I am a .5 on a pain scale of 1 to 10....either my surgeon does very delicate work, or I heal fast...I have very very little discomfort...and NO pain! -
Finally got all 6 months 'weight loss management program' done...I gained 12 pounds over the 6 months. Only had verified weights from 2002, 2005, 2006 (Aetna requires 2 year history). Submitted by surgeon on Friday 7/31....APPROVED for lapband 8/3. I'm excited. LOOOOONG road since Feb 2nd when I saw the surgeon for the first time. Scheduler is on vacation this week, but is calling me Monday to schedule surgery!

OK. I've been in this process since 2/09. I have Aetna POS II insurance. I am doing the 6 month diet w/my PCP, per Aetna's requirements. In addition to this requirement, Aetna requires 2 yrs proof of obesity. Here's what I have in my medical records (I requested all of them for the last 8 years). 46 BMI 2002 (from doctor) 46 BMI 2002 (from nutrionist), stating in the Dr's transcripts "Patient states he has been this size since he was 17 years old". I was26 at the time, I am 32 now. 46 BMI from 2005. (doctor's visit) 46 BMI from 2006 (doctor's visit) 46 BMI from....2/09...to present. ou I didn't go to the doctor from 11/06 to 2/09... Do you think this is enough info for Aetna to approve me? If not...I'm sunk. I TRULY have been at 46 BMI since about 17 years old...actually higher than that at times, but no lower! Thanks for the help!

Mahaganie, do you mind telling me what you said to them? I am going to be in the same boat...I have Aetna POS II, and I have a weight from 11/06, and 2/09...but nothing for the years of 07 and 08. I didn't go to ANY doctor for those two years. I can provide weights for 2002,03,04,05... My surgeon said they will send pics of me. If anyone with a brain looks at my information, they will know I qualify. I am 5'11", and my lowest weight in the last 20 years is 220 pounds....THAT WAS WHEN I WAS 11 years old!!! Let me know what you said that got them moving!

Hi, new guy here. I have Aetna PPO and have been working with a bariatric surgeon since February. On my first consult he told me that I needed proof of 6 months worth of visits to my PCP on weight loss for Aetna to approve me. He gave me 6 sheets that the PCP can basically fill out, it has current weight, diet plan (calorie intake, etc) and excerise plan. I have went every month since Feb (this month will be month 5) and my PCP is filling in what diet plan and exercise plan I've been on. The bariactric surgeon said his office will submit all 6 forms (once I have all six) to Aetna for approval. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT? DOES IT SOUND CLOSE TO WHAT YOU THAT HAVE BEEN APPROVED THROUGH AETNA HAVE DONE? In addition to the monthly visits to my PCP to fill out my form, I also had a consult with a nutritionist and a pyschologist. PLEASE PROVIDE SOME INSIGHT FOR ME!!!! 5 months into this process...and the whole time wondering if Aetna will approve me! Thanks Jaredsdad -
