Thank you for responding Lisa . . . I guess it is safe to say that everyday can be a 'new day' with the band. That is okay with me though, I want to lose this weight more than I want a piece of bread! Lynn
-
Yep Terry, Brenda says if you can eat bread you need a fill. My problem is . . . I can only eat bread on the 3rd Sunday of the month, if the moon is blue and it is raining . . . . Did I mention my band is 'finicky???' :phanvan Lynn

Hi Terry ~ EXACTLY!!! It is like because I am not getting stuck as much, I think I need a fill . . . Because I can eat now without getting stuck, I think I need a fill . . . Surely, that can't be right! I mean, we should be able to EAT, as long as we 'chew-to-goo' and take tiny bites, right??? I guess that is what I need support on, that it is OKAY to be able to eat . . . I think I spent so much time stuck and confused, that is why it feels 'wrong' to be able to eat now. I know I have restriction because of the very small amount I can eat before I get that 'feeling' that it is time to stop. I will admit that I probably don't eat the 'perfect' things and I am working on that thought process - Right now it seems to be, "Well if I am only going to be able to eat a tiny amount, then it needs to be something I really want/like." Thanks for responding ~ I keep trying to remind myself that this is not a race and that it is going to take some time. Lynn

That is the funniest, most accurate thing I have read lately! Thank God I seem to have figured out (most of the time!) how to avoid that feeling. Lynn

I am not sure I understand what that means . . . Lynn -
ME TOO!!!!! What does that mean??? I am trying to decide if I need another fill or not. I was banded on 1-12-07 and have 2.2cc's in my 4cc band. I have lost about 30 pounds, but am so frustrated because I haven't lost an ounce in forever! I am seriously trying to figure out if you are supposed to be a little 'uncomfortable' when you eat with this tool, or if you should be able to eat a small amount of almost anything (no bread or pasta for me!) and just be very patient for the weight loss . . . My doctor has said that it will take me longer to lose because I only 'needed' to lose about 50 pounds (his opinion, not mine). Any thoughts will be appreciated ~ Lynn

I would love to have some feedback on the two things above in red. It seems like I just don't think this baby is working if I'm not getting stuck all the time . . . :faint: What is wrong with my head??? Do any of you have these thoughts? Aren't we supposed to be able to co-exist with our little tool and just eat less??? I can't figure out why all of the sudden I am having all of this anxiety. Oh yeah, now I remember! I haven't lost an ounce in I can't remember when . . . Thoughts friends - ???

Hi Tonya ~ I am sorry I wasn't able to get back with you before you left. Now it is Tuesday so that means you are enjoying a beautiful day at sea and will be in Jamaica tomorrow!!! I can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back . . . We went to Dunn's River Falls and to Dolphin Cove and swam with the dolphins in Jamaica and had a wonderful time. (Except for when I fell about 25 feet down the falls - I am still waiting for THAT video to surface on YOU TUBE! :phanvan ) In the Cayman Islands we went to 7-Mile Beach and rented Jet-Ski's. My husband and son snorkled there and also at Eden Rock and our day in the Cayman's went by wayyyyy tooooo fast. I would love to go back to the Cayman Islands and just stay there for a few days. In Cozumel the boys did another snorkeling excursion and my daughter and I just shopped and ate lunch at Senor Frogs. We had so much fun on this trip and will definately do it again! We had the neatest waiter and the most awesome cabin staff. We were on the SPA deck, 11. Where was your room? Wasn't the ship awesome? The husband and I got hot stone massages the last day and I had a deep tissue facial. It was wonderful and I didn't want to come home! I hope you are having a wonderful time and am anxious to hear about it when you get home. Lynn

I am curious if anyone else has these thoughts . . . . . I think because I spent a fairly significant amount of time getting stuck on food (my own fault for not chewing enough and taking too large of bites), that now that I have figured out the smaller bites and chewing thing and I can actually eat, I think I need another fill! :phanvan The scale is not moving for me and I am frustrated. However, I am really not sure another fill is the answer . . . Perhaps exercise . . . I am also wondering when you get to your 'sweet spot' if you quit thinking about food - ??? When I read that people 'forget to eat' I almost fall over because I am not even close to 'forgetting to eat' - just curious - ??? Thanks, Lynn

I am curious how this band is 'better' - ??? Does anyone know what the differences are in the old one he used before and the new one? Also, when did he start using the new one? I had my surgery on 1-12-07 and am now confused about which one I have. I know one thing - I wish I had a 'MAGIC' one that would do the work for me and make this easy, and have me drop about 5 pounds a week! If they come out with one like the one I just described, I'll be first in line for the revision. Good night friends ~ Lynn :notagree

Hi Tonya ~ I was on the same cruise you are going on last week, and I can promise you - you are going to have a wonderful time! We did!!! It was our first cruise, and we will definately do it again. We decided it is THE way to vacation . . . Have fun and be safe! Lynn

Please Read Before Considering Dr. Spiegel

Dr. Spivak is the doctor of choice in Houston. He is the kindest man I have ever met. His office staff and nurses are wonderful and they are all very friendly. He did my surgery on 1-12-07 and I have been nothing but pleased with my interaction with him and his staff. I have heard one story like yours after the next about Dr. Spiegel. -
-
Hi Enterprise01 ~ I am also a patient of Dr. Spivak and I am wondering if with the little extra fill you notice a huge change in the amount you can eat, or just a small change - ??? I think I need more restriction, but then there are times that I can barely get anything down. But just now . . . I ate about 1/2 a baked potato and some BBQ sausage and brisket - ??? One thing is for sure, my little tool is unpredictable . . .
-
Terry ~ I totally understand! I have been fortunate that I have not had to wait very long at his office, but I have read that others have. I always try to schedule my appt right after lunch, before they get behind. I truly hope the spot is nothing to worry about! We leave for a 7 day cruise tomorrow and I am starting to stress! I put off starting to pack until today because I usually start too early and then spend so much time on it. Hopefully we'll end up with what we need on the ship! I hope I am able to use my brain and not over-eat while on vacation this time! Even after the last fill, I think I can still eat too much. Maybe when the kids go back to school I'll try to take it up a notch and get a tighter fill and see what happens. I would really like to drop some serious pounds, but am not seeing that happen yet. Maybe I'm just too impatient . . . Take care ~ I'll be off of here until at least next Sunday the 29th. And then I'll be doing laundry for a week I'm sure (teenage daughter!) . . .
-
Hi ClynnC ~ I am a very slow loser too, and it is so discouraging! I was banded on 1-12-07 and have lost about 30 pounds. Dr. Spivak seems pleased with my loss and tells me all the time that losing slow is better. Let's hope so!
-
Hi Terry ~ Were you able to see Dr. Spivak? If so, what did he say?
-
Congratulations Sandra on chosing the BEST team in Houston! Welcome to the family . . .
-
Keep us posted Terry; I hope it is nothing! Lynn
-
Hi TerriDoodle ~ I was just thinking about you and your 'spot', how are you? Lynn
-
That is Dr. Spivak's new nurse, Leslie. She did my last fill and did a fine job for me as well.
-
I have had both, and the Omnipaque is totally different. It doesn't feel different, but it doesn't disappear . . . I would certainly ask about it Tonya . . .
-
What is this weird spot near my port scar?
I'm still here replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Terry ~ Have you heard back from Dr. Spivak yet? I am anxious to hear what he thinks it is . . . I hope everything is okay! Lynn -
Tonya ~ I would ask them about using the OMNIPAQUE (sp?) solution for your next fill . . . When I was filled with the saline, it disappeared, but that has not been a problem with the OMNIPAQUE. I have heard it referred to a 'fix-a-flat', so if you do have a tiny little leak somewhere that they aren't able to see, it might correct it. Just a thought . . .
