  1. Happy 36th Birthday sbanfield!

  2. Wow I just read what happened to you, sorry to hear that. I hope your still losing and doing better. How much have you lost so far? How is the port area? Have you started exercising yet?

  3. Almost 8 weeks post-op...22 lbs down. 49 from start of journey. Because of all the complications...I haven't exercise yet. Just had my port replaced 2 weeks ago, tummy looks like a battle scene. But still moving forward...missing foods that are BAD for me.

PLEASE let the gas go away

I'm guessing this is what I'm feeling...after I eat or drink. It drives me insain! I'm in so much pain I have to lay down...and have the kids rub my back. Errgh...is it gas? I had my surgery on the 28th of July...but the pain just started since I've started eating.
  5. Hey There,

How's it all going? Hoping you have less discomfort and pain :)

You would be almost trying to get back onto normal foods now? If not, you wouldn't be far away!

I have some good news, I have a surgery date. December 4, 2009. It's a bit far off due to the insurance, but i''m still so excited.

Hope to hear from you soon

  6. Hey,

I've only just come back on to your profile to see your reply! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! I'm sorry to hear about your husband, has he calmed down or does he still want the divorce? I hope your pain has lessend from the op- which i gues it would have, it's been a while now :) Keep your chin up

  7. Hi there! I'm in pain...just discomfort I guess. Only problem, my husband asked for a divorce when we arrived from the hospital. I don't regret doing it...just wonder why he never told me he would end the marriage if I went ahead with it. I'm not sure if he's just feeling insecure.

  8. Hello There,

Just a quick message to see how you're doing, though I don't expect a reply straight away. Hope all went well and you're not having too many post op troubles :)

Pretty soon the flab will be melting off sweetie!

Hope you're feeling positive and look forward to hearing from you!

  9. Hey,

Not long till you're banded! How exciting! You'll do great. Don't worry about the foreign object... it isn't going to hurt you :) I cant wait for my operation and I'm not even approved or have a date yet! haha

How's the pre-op going? I know it sounds hard, but what I think is that the pre-op and post-op diet only last 6 weeks of your life and help prolong your life by who knows how long 10, 20, 30 years? Yeah, from reading other's stories it looks like the weight just drops off you as long as you stick to it. Tasmania is GORGEOUS. I went there for a holiday just over 4 years ago and what amazed me was everywhere I visited the scenery was beautiful. The road set-up in Hobart though was crazy! So many one way streets and if you missed your turn off you have to do a round trip of about 4 blocks to get where you wanted to be! Ayers rock is meant to be awesome, you should really try and get there.

Hope the pre-op is going well and look forward to hearing your progress :)

  10. That's right, you're getting married soon. Congrats! You'll be fine. It seems that the majority of women on this site have lost a ton of weight w/i the 1st yr, because they were extremely strict with thier food intake and exercise regimen. I hope to be one of these women. Having problems adjusting to the thought of a foreign object inside of my body, but I'll be fine as long as it keeps me from gaining weight (you know). As far as Victoria, I guess I don't find it too cold because I've spent the last 12 yrs in the Midwest (of the US)...up where it's winter 9 months out of the yr. So Victorian winters are a piece of cake, hell there wasn't even any snow. My Brother in Law got married a few yrs ago in TAZ, in October. Now that was bizarre weather...one day it was beautiful (the day of the wedding) and the next day it was snowing...how strange is that? But it was a lovely little island...would love to go back there. This time we go...I really hope we can make it to Ayers Rock. We'll see.

  11. It's so funny to hear that people find our accent hard to understand! But isn't that always the way you think people like you should be easy to understand :) I find American accents easy to understand, but some european ones are pretty hard. It is lovely down here, I would have thought you would find it a little bit cold, coming from Texas. We do say born and raised here... we probably stole it from you guys. You'll probably be fine. I think it might be harder for people with more weight, as they're elasticity of their skin is stretched further. When I lost my weight last time, I had no problems. I hope I get the band in time for me to lose all my weight (or majority of) for our wedding.

  12. He's from Geelong...born & raised (although I don't think y'all say that down there, it's a Texas thing). Yes I've been to Australia a few times. Actually I think a couple of pics in my album are in Australia. I like it...alot like Texas (topography, at least). Now the accent...that's something else. I swear I can totally understand my husband...but as soon as we step foot on Qantas...I can't understand a single word. hehe For the most part I don't have a problem understanding folks...but once you get a few beers in them...they're goners. Hence the reason I try not to drink too much when I'm down there...I want to understand what they're saying. lol Anyhow...about the skin...yeah I guess you're right...I just want to get rid of the weight. I'm guessing I'll take care of the excess skin later...plastic surgery, is always an option. Plus I plan to "up" my exercise...so apparently this should take care of some of the skin issue (so my doc says).

  13. In Australia I think 4-6 months is the standard wait also. Your husband is from Australia? I'm guessing somewhere in Victoria considering he barracks for Geelong :)

I hope you get to your goal by that time, but don't stress too much if you don't. I want my loss to be steady and slow so I don't leave behind folds of skin... haha, gross I know, sorry! Have you been to Australia before?

  14. I'm scheduled to get my band on the 28th...10 more days, woohoo! I've lost 27 lbs since I started this process...so I'm hoping that I'll reach my goal pretty quickly. So 7 lbs in a week right?

  15. So how long does it take in OZ to get your surgery after your initial consultation? Here it's between 3-6 months. Heading down to Geelong in December I'll be about 4.5 months in...hopefully I'll be back to my normal size by then. I can't wait!
