I wanted to have my first fill with floro and postponed filling untill I was able to get it done with floro. I found a new fill center in Florida and was happy that I waited. While watching what was done I am better able to understand why it can take many fills to get a restriction. The fill port is under my fat (way under) my primary care doctor located it 4 inches away from where it really was. The port was clear on the floro, the fill amount was easy to adjust. At this point I will pay the extra for the floro. It reduces the chance of sticking the tubing and causing a leak. It reduces the chance of missing the port and not getting the fill. It makes the amount of flow through my band easy to see. Does anyone have comments or other ideas?

Sick from weight loss Now that I have you reading let me tell you what is going on. I am not sick because of the weight loss; the weight loss has released toxic chemicals from my fat. In my life I have been exposed to some bad chemicals. After the Lap-Band I began to loose weight and felt great. After about 70 pounds of weight loss I got very sick. I have not had my band filled as planed to keep up my weight loss. I am regaining my health and letting my body recover. I have increased my food intake and feel a lot better. Having said all of that I will get another fill in the future (soon I hope). I am very glad I was able to get the band. The band could have been unfilled if needed. I did not get it unfilled; I took in more food. I have learned that I need to go slow in my weight loss or risk getting very sick. What I can say to others is that a slow weight loss my be disappointing, but it may be much better for your health. I knew that I had exposure to some bad chemicals. I chose to forget about the effects on my future health. As I started to loose weight I did not understand the effects of the chemicals that were being released from my shrinking fat. It is much better to be able to have the band that can be adjusted. I feel that had I not been able to take in more food and recover that my health would be worse. Now I say "get the band and take it slow"

Mexico or States

I am happy for you. My local doctors were/are unable to compete by price. The local care stinks, and they do not have a good past. It a long way to go to Mexico, but I was able to get great care while I could still take a breath. -
I read another post that had an idea. Have your doctor repair a herina and pay for the lab band self pay. The insurance pays for the large portion of the two opperation. I am told that 80% of overweight people have a herina.

Hey, that a great idea. Have the insurance pay for the Hernia repair and piggy back the lap band at self pay. This need to be looked at!

South of the border? Am I crazy to even concider that?
kwhenrykerr replied to toolman tim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best of Luck to you. My family was dead set about Mexico. Mexico = No Good. I suffered and kept my mouth shut, till I saved the money. After meeting others that had gone to Mexico they eased up a little. After my banding in Mexico they support going south. -

"MISSED OUT ON THE MONEY" At least you got a truthfull answer. Not a bad answer when you look at doctors as a bussiness. Take your money where you feel is best for you.

What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
kwhenrykerr replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I woke up after banking and was told to get out of bed and start walking. I took about 5 minutes to feel like it was ok to walk without help. By 30 min. I was moving about very well and had mild discomfort. Becuse I was the last band opperation of the day I stayed the night. I walked a lot that night. I was not pleased that the most of the others who were banded had gone back to the hotel and I stayed in the hospital. The next morning when I woke up I went back to walking. I greeted the new people who were getting banded that day. By mid-morning I was on my way back to the hotel. Less that 24 hours after banding several of us who had been banded the day before rented a van and toured the city, went to the beach and walked around. That night, 24 plus hours after banding I was walking the streets of Mexico pushing my mother-in-laws wheel chair touring on foot. We stayed out untill after midnight. I took only one pain pill the whole time. I was not smiling and dancing but the Doctor said that the more I walked the better. It worked for me. -
Walk as much as you can it really helps.
