I got a new pair of pants for christmas and they were to small. Well meaning family, I was a little depressed. Then I tried them on, I swear they switched the lables. They are only a little tight, not uncomfortable and I have them on right now. The lap band works

Sounds like one of the things to tell pre-banders, we are here to help each other.

You will not have any problem with V-8 juice. The instructions are to sip (very little amounts) into your mouth. Swish the juice around your mouth and enjoy the flavor while it warms up. Then let it slide down, slow, small amounts. It my help if you pretend what you are eating and drinking is the most costly thing you have ever had. Savor it.

I keep my mouth working all the time. I chew, chew, and chew. It is the swollowing that I have a hard time with. I am afraid that if I swollow my chewing it will get stuck and not desolve. I get told that my gum could claim abuse-beat to death. seems to work, must learn to keep my mouth closed so that I do not wake the neighbors.

Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
kwhenrykerr replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Paige I must ask how you arrive at your idea that banding is a failure? Everyone of us dies so we can say life is a failure? Give up now and save yourself all the suffering. -
Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
kwhenrykerr replied to Dakota1984's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have readstats about some of the Mexico Doctors on this website. If I remember right Dr. Ortiz had the highest number of problems. He also had by far the most experience. I went to him after looking around at other Doctors and speaking by phone with people who had gone to him. I had my reservations about my outcome with any doctor, US or Mexico. The US doctors have a more formal system of reporting problems. I know from personal experience that the US system hides a lot of problems from the public. I went to Mexico and a very experienced Doctor. The results are great, I may have gone to a less experienced and more costly Doctor close to home, but I did not. -
Nobody said it would be easy, leading by example can inspire others to change their ways. Our kids can learn from us and maybe they will not need the tools that we use (lap-band) to stay fit. Boy for something so easy to say it will be a goal.

Fill Centers USA featured in this month's Obesity Help magazine.

Ask you doctor to write off the amount you would pay after he gets paid by the insurance company. If he will not go to fillcenterusa.com and pay 100% out of your pocket and still save money -
The fills will help and so will learning the new feeling of full; The brain has been trained to expect to see and feel a big plate of food. it is now seeing a very small portion. The brain knows that is not enough so it says to keep eating. I have had a lot of luck retraining my brain by changing the food I eat. I have switched to an Atkins style diet. It is working well for me and the hunger monster is gone.

2 days since surgery

The gas used to expand our guts like blowup toy takes time to be desolved back into our bodies. It was needed to make room for the Doctor to work. It causes pain in the back and shoulders. Sitting or laying around is the worst. Walking and streching a little helps a lot. The gas that is traped in the banded gut is a little different. Our gut still makes lots of acid, only now we are not adding a bunch of food. The little bit of food is quickly broken down by the acid. This causes lots of gas. The banded area is swollen after being banded. The restriction is tight and we are not used to moving around to burp the lower gut. It is like pating a baby on the back to help them get the gas out. We just need to learn how to do it, its all new. If you can picture walking and moving around to allow the burp it will help. Good luck to all of you -
Jack's experience is about normal as I read. The nevious types like myself will allways worrie. Its a shame that we waste out time, but if we keep learning what to expect then when we are getting our fill we will understand what is going on. Had I not been informed about what to expect I would not have been so impressed by the success of my fill. Their are so many stories, the needle is nothing. I have caused myself more pain trimming my fingernails too short.

My first fill with Flouro cost $299 from the St. Petersburg, Florida office of Fillcenterusa. I have read that others have paid from $15 without flouro. What cost for fill services have you guys paid? What was the experience like? -

Hearing the good and bad about someone is a little like talking to a salesman. The salesman wants to sell his product and negtive things about others work to place dought in my mind. I try to check-up on negtive things becuse they are so often wrong. We have a responsabalty to report our feelings and impressions. 1. They inform others 2. They provide feedback to make the system better I am glad to say that my trip into Lap-Band land has been great for me so far. It may change in the future, and if it does I will report it. We all must make our own choices, even not doing anything is an action. -

Keep reading the post in this form. Lots of different ways of explaining what is going on after banding. Do not get stuck on one comment, move on and read some more. There are lots of challanges ahead and lots of rewards. Remember to take it slow, chew completely and try to figure out what that New full feeling is. Full in your gut is not the same as full in your head. Your head will tell you to keep eating when you are full, SLOW helps. -

10 years after death ended my caregiver duites and I still feel that it was "The Best of Times and The Worst of Times". I treasure some of the worst moments. Let me share one with you. I was tired, exhuasted both mind and body. I have cared fo my dad for years, the last 3 years have seen his abilty to care for himself fade. I was now to the point that the care was 24/7. I was determinded to grant his wish not to be "put away". It was late one night and I checked on him. He had soiled himself again. I was temped to let him sleep, but it was a mess. I knew that he did not have any control over this. He was completely bed ridden, on a feeding tube and not very alive. I started to clean him up and change the bedding and he became alert. He was unable to talk so I was talking to him, not to myself only as he was able to respond a little. I am sure that he could tell how tired I was. I recall telling him what a mess he was. I ask him did he understand? I got a little nod of the head. This made me feel ashamed that I had ask the question. He was complely unable to control this. I contuniued to do my job in silence for a few minutes then I had to ask him. "did you ever do this for me or was it always mom?" I was ready to quit, all my remaining energy was gone. His answer was a grin and nod of the head to say yes. It was like a light came on. I had renewed energy, I cared for him to the end. It has always been one of the best moments we had togather. Just a grin and little nod...

Best wishes to all of you

I just came across the information below. It is interesting reading, and it may answer the question of why some of us gain weight while eating almost nothing. Others may eat the same meal and not gain weight while we put on pounds. cause of obesity http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10837-your-gut-reaction-influences-your-weight.html http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18825191.900
