Do not be suprised if the insurance denies the claim. My girls insurance company said they would not pay after the opperation was Pre-approved, checked by the doctors office and hospital for approval, checked by myself for approval, and everybody was happy. The operation went well (she had RNY) and it was several weeks later she recived a bill from the hospital for $68,000.00 to say the least was upset. The hospital started to ask for money and things got ugly. We were finaly told that it was a delaying tactic to not pay by the insurance company. That was why the doctor ask for and recived $5000.00 cash before the opperation was performed. The insurance company finaly paid.

Turning sideways to go through doorways. Before I got huge I needed to turn sideways to go through narrow doors, after gaining weight it did not matter. Round is round, pound for pound.

Interesting reading http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070126/hl_nm/normal_weight_dc Sample: "Overall, the researchers found, the NWO group had higher levels of several inflammatory Proteins than normal-weight women did. The excess body fat in the former group may explain the difference, as research suggests that fat tissue secretes inflammatory substances, De Lorenzo and his colleagues note. Because inflammation has been implicated in the buildup of artery-clogging plaques, women who have a normal weight but high fat mass may be at increased risk of heart disease and stroke down the road, according to the researchers. What's more, they point out, these women are likely to have a false sense of security about their heart health because their BMI is normal.] This means that measuring body fat percentage, and not just BMI, could be an important part of preventing obesity-related ills, the researchers conclude."

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
kwhenrykerr replied to NeenBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It only takes one little bit of food that is not chewed to start the problem. A minor distraction like talking to someone is all it takes to allow me to swollow too soon. It is work to remember that I must chew. -

If I fail to chew to a paste it can become painfull. I have found that if I eat soft food I will sometimes not chew it enough and cause a problem. I almost never have trouble with tough food, I remember to chew, chew. -

28, 5'10", 375 you may not be able to life insurance for him, he may not see 40 years old. But if he were to loose 40 pounds a year for 4 years then he would be 32, 5'10, 215 a good risk for insurance, live to 75 and be much happier along the way. You will need to consider that he may be a target of other womens desires, but I feel you will be able to handle that. Best wishes on a long life of happyness for both of you. -
The federal Agency for health care Research and Quality released a study in July that said four in 10 weight-loss surgery patients develop complications within six months. Among adults, mortality rates among gastric bypass patients remain at between 1 in 100 and 1 in 200 patients. Laparoscopic gastric banding has been shown to have a much smaller death rate — about 1 in 1000 patients — but complications do occur. You will be the one to judge your doctor and decide your path. Try to do as much homework as possable. Best of luck/

Tricked into a starvation mode

As I like to read, some of todays stuff is that 5 minutes of hard work followed by 15 minutes of lesser workout will burn more fat than 20 minutes of steady workout.
