  1. It’s so hard to keep up on this thread, so many posts! Reggie what can we bring? Not sure I’ve seen a list. Want to make sure we don’t duplicate what someone else is bringing. How about Rum shots and Cannoli’s. Just Kidding. Well…ok…yes just kidding.
  2. Dear Freeport Donna - Well if you're going to get all NY on me, I'll check with the boss and see if we can pull it off. I'll get back with you tonight as Nikki must be out making sales calls. Is Rick going? Sincerely Baldwin John (but I might be an honorary Freeportite as I went to the 1986 Freeport senior prom as a Baldwin junior). Lee - I am excited but I need a couple weeks. With the last two surgery disappointments a part of me is nervous in regards to finally having a successful one. Plus there is the whole stomach removal part..ouch! Even though I've been on the 1200 Cal meal plan I'm not losing any weight this week. I hate these plateaus.
  3. Hi Ladies! Reggie - Thanks for the invite! It's my last weekend off work before surgery and I have so much to get done. I'm working the following weekend to limit the time off. Again thanks! Lee - Why did the Sleeve lady at the support group have such a tough couple weeks? Fill us in!
  4. Heather – Have fun skiing! Something I miss so much! Hence my screen name skiingj. It’s the only sport I was any good at! Even met my wife skiing in France. I’m so jealous! I hope to be back on the slopes next year! Pat – Nice weight loss!! Congrats! Welcome Cindy and the other new folks!
  5. I’ve solved my B-12 dilemma! I don’t have to take 500 of those pills. I guess 1 MG is equal to 1000 MCG. So one of my pills is fine. Lee I'll defiantly go get some of those Trader Joe ones as my pills don’t dissolve that quickly. Thanks for the info!
  6. Lee - Robin said in our class they recently added B-12 to the Sleeve vitamins. I just received some from Amazon; Source Naturals but they say 1 mg. Didn't Robin say 500 mg a day? I just had three under my tongue and boy do they take awhile to dissolve. It’s a bit uncomfortable can’t imagine 500 a day! Holy cow! What did you get?
  7. Wow, you look much younger! Yes one night but I hope no more. Looking forward to our hospital party!
  8. Yes I have been to the first one to do some research. Never posted. It took me about eight months to post on this site after following it since the beginning. I feel at home on this thread.
  9. Hello Everyone! Candra – Thanks for the PM. I sent one back. You are so kind! Ash – Good idea! I wish you the best! Lee- I doubt that you are old enough to be my Mom, I wouldn’t even think you are even close. I have no plans to be in the hospital two nights. I already tried to convince Dr. Who to let me leave the same day. Sounds like a party at the hospital! Everyone is welcome! I don’t mind sharing a room with you but I doubt they would let us. I will PM you my last name so you can find me and ask to be either roomed or in the next room.
  10. Oh! So much for my guess. Normally they do one band first thing 8am and then two bypasses. So I’m assuming they are doing one band then our two Sleeves. I would guess one of us will be at around 10am and the other after lunch. I did like going first as the traffic is somewhat predictable and you get it over quicker. Since I guessed the assisting surgeon thing wrong then who knows...We will know for sure the day before! I have Dr. F. I’m starting to get excited but still nervous about the stomach removal part… Congrats Tamara! Candra you are too funny!
  11. Lee - Same day! Baggs and Who must be working with each other that day. Baggs was my first attending surgeon so let’s hope it’s the last. I’ll be on the lookout for ya on Surgery day!
  12. Hi Laurel, Welcome to the group! Don’t worry about Liz, I find her approach rude. I think she means well but needs to find a better way to interact with people in a one on one session. Maybe the Raley’s meeting is around the Chinese counter? JK Jes – Thanks for the hotel recommendations!
  13. Hi Ladies! Happy Sunday! Anyone know if the Extended Stay America Richmond - Hilltop Mall is safe and decent? Need a hotel for my wife for the night I have the Sleeve. Any other hotel recommendations in the Richmond area? Appreciate the help!
  14. Reggie - Wow very scary! Glad you are ok! You are so lucky you didn't get into an accident! I hope all is well!
  15. Hi Lee! They weigh you in one or two gowns. Morning everyone!
  16. Ashley - Congats, keep the scale moving down! Wish I could have met all those Sleevers from your support group. I think I just saw on the news they arrested the two guys from the shooting that took the life of Nicole’s brother-in-law. If they are guilty I hope they get what they deserve! I hope everyone is having a great day!
  17. Hi Ladies! Oh we had so much fun today, well sort of! Meeting Lee and seeing Nicolie again was awesome. Glad to have company in repeating these classes. The first class (pre-op) Sleeve was never mentioned once. I don’t think Liz looked at me at all and I sat closest to her, kind of strange. Hi Liz! What a bore as nothing was new and it’s mostly spent talking about surgery which I have done twice. The second class (Nutrition) was better as the Sleeve was mentioned numerous times and Robin does a good job with the class. I did weigh-in under my mini goal for this next surgery, yippee! Doc who said to lose 12 pounds by surgery and even after all the drinks and tacos in Mexico last week I surprised myself as I thought I would have been only down half of my mini goal. Doc said to lose it by surgery but I really didn’t want to give Liz anything to bitch about today! I’d like to lose a few more pounds to get back to 85 total lost. When I weighed in the lady said oh your John S… Funny I must have made a name for myself not sure if that’s good or bad. At the end of the day all I care about is having a successful surgery. The meeting with Liz at noon was the same as last time; uncomfortable and I just don’t like her approach. I do think she means well but she makes you feel so uncomfortable. I really didn’t have much to say and it was just a waste of time. It was just a shorter version on the case manager appointment. Can you say control… I also had to meet with Doc Who and he was running late again. I didn’t leave Richmond until 3pm. Long day! Surgery is still set for 17 Feb!!! Fingers crossed! Lee – Did you do your homework tonight with the inspirometer? Was up at 4:15am, time for bed. Nite!
  18. Nicole – Very sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Don’t eat too much. Lee – Awesome! See you tomorrow, I’ll be wearing a black Hawaiian shirt. Candra – Thanks for the kind words! Now if I can only lose some more weight! Hello Ladies!!! Wish me luck tomorrow. I’m partially pissed off, nervous at loosing enough for them to proceed and just worn out from the failures, drives to Richmond and hassle…
  19. Congrats Pat!!! Thanks! Will do! Congrats!!! Yes come join us!!
  20. Lee - Thanks so much for the list!! The two classes last about four hours. Nicollie – Congratulations! See you in class!! Jes – The drama / lack of support is getting old. Not sure I’ve lost much weight in two weeks so they might cancel my surgery…We shall see Thursday. Go Pat!
  21. Hi Ladies, Tamra - Congratulations on having surgery!!! Nicollie - Awesome job!! Congrats on the case manager appointment and surgery date!?!? Pat - You're next! Best of luck! Mexico has been a blast! Not looking forward to returning to Richmond on Thursday to repeat the pre-op and nutrition class. Called Richmond twice from Mexico asking if the vitamins are different for the Sleeve. All I got was a message telling me to bring them. Well if I knew what they were I would but the binder is in California I'm in Mexico and I don't remember anything listing Sleeve vitamins. I've explained that twice and they just don't get it. I'll have to check the binder when I get home but that only leaves me a couple days to buy/find new vitamins... If anyone has that information please post.
  22. Hello Ladies!!! I hope you all have fun today and I wish I could be there. At work now and tonight I have to pack and get up at o dark thirty for my 6am flight. Have fun at the support group meeting as well! Tamra - Best wishes on Wednesday! I can’t wait to check-in later in the week to see how you are doing!! Yes most people do get weighed in. You either have one or two gowns on and special socks. For my first surgery in June all they had was the old fashion scale. In August they still had the old fashion scale but they used a new digital one located in the back of the nurse’s station. Richmond only did three surgeries at a time but they recently expanded the area to double or triple in size so if they are really busy they might not weigh you. Though I would be ready for it and they have now been turning more people away if they are above goal. The staff is great except for one lady that blabbed to another nurse after my first failure that I didn’t get a band. I hadn’t been told yet as I just woke up in the recovery room and overheard them. I couldn’t believe what she said as my stomach had all the scares… Ten minutes or so later my wife walked in and I could just tell by her face that something was wrong. Seconds later the doc came in to explain things… I guess the nurses got in trouble and after my second failure I woke to the doc and a nurse. After waking I immediately looked at my wrist as I asked the doc to put something on indicating things went well. Well nothing was on my wrist and the doc was at the end of the bed starting to explain things… For me I hope third time is a charm! I think the worst part of the day is the barium swallow, it’s so gross. Best of luck!!! Pat – You’re next!!! Well I weighed in Friday at Roseville and I’m down ten pounds since my Richmond appointment two weeks ago though I don’t believe it. I think it’s more like 6-7 pounds. Now if I can just moderate myself next week in Cancun! I will be with 22 other couples and two have bands so it could go either way! :w00t: They are old military work friends, we have cruised before and it’s pretty entertaining! Work is quite on the weekends so I can jump on a PC that allows me to post, most of our computers block many sites… I hope you all have a fantastic week! Keep up the awesome work!
  23. Tamara - Congratulations!!! Glad you got something quick! So you get out of doing the Pre-Op / Nutrition class, I'm so jealous. I have to do it a second time and the first was a little painful. To slow paced for my liking. Funny how yesterday Liz gave me a hard time for getting special treatment and she turns around the next day and skips them. I’m happy for you!!! Just PO Ash – 3K is cheap for the surgery. I know its not when you don't have it. Most Health Insurance programs do not cover bariatric surgery at all. A couple years ago I considered going to Mexico, Bangkok and having it done here in SAC. Prices around SAC were around 16-20K two years ago. I switched jobs for two reasons and one was to get Kaiser back and get in this program. Definitely get a hold of the SPD it’s a great resource. Hello – Everyone!
  24. Ash - You should be able to get a copy from your husband’s company of the Summary Plan Description (SPD). It describes every co-pay and deductable you are responsible for. They are easy to read and figure out.
  25. Tamara - Doc Who... Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes! She is tuff. Thanks everyone! Nic pic Candra!
