  1. OK, I'm lame, no friends. What’s this friend crap all about. Haha Nicolie I think I've sent a request. Can’t wait to see the pics!
  2. Wow Pam. That’s a bunch of food to avoid. Such a learning lesson. Ali – No appointment necessary for EKG when I had a couple done at Roseville and Morse Ave. PB stands for Productive Burp and yes sometimes food comes along for the ride.
  3. Hi Pam - The Sleeve has a list of foods to avoid that is the same or similar to the band list but that particular list is geared towards lack of nutritional value. The band has a small list of items to avoid because they can cause blockage. Since the sleeve restriction is in the small size of the stomach there are no foods to avoid that would cause blockage. With that said the foods that cause blockage on a band are not of much nutritional value so you could say you shouldn't have them with a band or sleeve. It sounds like what blocks band patients up and cause PB’ing is different with everyone. My two friends that have bands are brother and sister but yet have different tolerances to certain foods. I either ate to fast or too much or both. I will try some chicken and potatoes tonight again and keep my fingers crossed. I will avoid the cornbread as that was the last thing I ate and may have caused the problem. I’m now officially christened into the PB’ing club. Yeah! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Congrats Nicolie!!! Pics pics pics!!!
  4. Pam – In the pre-op classes for the post-op meal plan they taught both measuring by weight and by size (cups) for band patients. My binder has it done both ways for band patients, not sure why but some food is measured by weight and other stuff is measured by size. For Sleeve they make sure it is all measured by size only. I had my first real what you guys call PB’ing today. I was so tired of Purees I decided to have a very small amount of Boston Market Chicken and mashed potatoes. I really had just a small amount, about 1/3 cup of food total. It will take me a week to finish the one plate I bought. Well everything went down ok and I was pleased as I’ve had some thick soups that went down and I felt pressure of such a small stomach. I had about 1/3 cup of white meat chicken, mashed potatoes and corn bread. All of it fit into a 1/3 cup. I chewed it very well. About ten minutes later I was salivating over the sink for ten minutes. I burped a couple times which made me feel better so I went to sit down. Bad move because a few minutes later I ran for the sink and everything I ate came back up. Sorry for the TMI. What was so different was it was such a slow regurgitation. I was a bit scared. I’m only a couple days away from moving to soft foods so I hope this gets better as it was not fun! I guess this is what I get for moving ahead a couple days early. Going to talk to the doc next week about the incident. Sleeve patients are supposed to be able to eventually eat about a cup of food in one sitting. I hope everyone if having a wonderful weekend! Looking forward to hearing about the wedding!
  5. Hi Pam - Purees are about two weeks. From what I understand they really want you to puree soft meat protein like chicken or ground beef/turkey. Nothing is working well for me. Especially since you only eat 1/4 - 1/2 cup for a meal and you have so much left over. I pureed a can of chicken from Sam’s and it’s lasted three days, yuck. You just get tired of stuff. Can't wait until next week to move to soft foods. Sorry for bitching but purees just $uck for me! I’m going to try a couple new things people have suggested but I’m pretty picky with food. Not sure why we can’t have scrambled eggs lightly done on this stage as you could make them just similar consistency to a puree. Good news is I’m still not that hungry and the weight is coming off very nicely!
  6. Ashley - I've tried some cheese. Purées are just gross almost anyway you make it. I would bet anyone’s favorite food would be gross pureed.
  7. Laurel – Thanks for the ideas. I’m a pretty picky eater but I'll give it a try! Thanks! Have fun with the doc appointment!
  8. Congrats Ashley! Almost there...
  9. Hi All! Well purees still stink. Can’t find much that tastes nice in a puree form. Somehow I got a cold, glad I’m off work to rest. Went to my PCP surgery follow-up yesterday and all is well. Next week I go see Doc Who for my one month post-op. Holly cow one month has gone by fast. I hope you are all doing well!
  10. Thanks everyone for the congrats. Yes it feels very good to shed the pounds. Feels even better knowing that I now have a successful surgery to help me lose more and most importantly keep it off. This site and all the wonderful participants definitely helped me keep on track! Pat - I will try the chicken with gravy in a day or two. I was going to use canned chicken, what did you use? Nicolie – Ouch! Get well!
  11. Hello Everyone! Purees have been going down a little better. Can’t say I’m a fan of Purees. Food I would normally enjoy does not appeal to me Pureed. Down 20 pounds post-op which now brings me to 100 pounds since I started this journey a year ago. I have my PCP follow-up appointment this Wednesday and Richmond next week for the surgery post-op follow-up. Went through another closet yesterday and put together two large bags for donation. I fit into clothes I used to wear ten years ago. I hope everyone is having a great Monday!! Ali – No problem, congrats on your decision! Who will be your surgeon for the Sleeve? Pat – Thanks for the invite! Don’t think I’ll be able to make it but I am sure going to try!
  12. :thumbup:Nicolie – CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so cool!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!:smile2:
  13. Hi Ladies!! Thanks for the well wishes! I’m feeling much better now that I’ve had some protein the last few days. I treated myself to a scoop and half of ice cream! Ashley – I’m glad your son is OK!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
  14. Candra – Sorry about your health insurance. My job is in the balance and I'm a bit scared it might not be around much longer. I’m hoping another position in my office opens soon so I can move into it. Ali – Sure PM me questions or we can chat on the phone of you’d like. No problem! Good Night all!
  15. Nicolie - Thanks! So weak today, makes me feel better!
  16. Hi Ladies!!!!!!! Wow Pat that is so awesome!!! You are kicking butt!!!!!!! Ok I slept for about 15 hours last night. I fell asleep around 4pm and woke up every few hours only to find myself falling asleep soon after waking. I just did some stuff around the house and I’m exhausted, winded and just drained. I wonder if it’s the lack of protein catching up with me. Glad I started protein yesterday. I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Tamra – Congratulations on the fill!!! My first thought was; WTF as you had us all believing you where eating so badly! Good job! Welcome back Candra! Sorry about your loss!
  18. Yes both Lee and I had ours done two weeks ago at Kaiser Richmond. From what I understand Richmond has been doing them since late spring / early summer. They have only been offering them openly in orientation to patients since around November. They Sleeved a bunch of people over the summer and when I had my second band install failure in August they offered it to me. If you don’t have Sleeve information in your binder call Kaiser Bariatric department and ask them to send you the new Sleeve binder material. I'd suggest emailing Dr. Park and asking her about it.
  19. Annalyn – Congrats on getting to goal! Make sure you weigh in at a Kaiser facility before calling for the CM appointment. I agree with all that Lee has said about the Sleeve. We both received our Sleeves the same day. A few things I would point out to help you choose: Lap-Band® is the least evasive but also has the lowest weight-loss but does have a history. RNY is the most evasive, has awesome weight-loss and a long history. Sleeve has been around awhile but the procedure now being used is new. The Sleeve doesn’t have much of a history so there are some unknowns. Weight-loss is very fast and you should lose more than with a band. With the Sleeve you can still eat anything but just smaller portions. The band can be a maintenance nightmare but if you’re OK with that it’s adjustable and can be undone. The Sleeve cannot be undone except for moving to a RNY after being Sleeved. Some feel the Sleeve will have much better results and become the surgery of choice. I highly suggest considering it and at the least spend time with your doc discussing it. Sorry if I repeated some of what Lee said. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Good luck!
  20. Hi Reggie! Sorry about your second Mom! Your next fill if coming, you can do it!!!! For me eating tasty food is satisfying and makes me feel good. Whichever surgery we have it’s the head hunger that we have to overcome. Heather thanks for the kind words! You're next, we are rooting for you!!!!!
  21. Lee - How are you? Did you hear from Robin? I had a great conversation with her. Looking forward to purees tomorrow. Let me know if you have any good recipes? Hello Ladies! Lots of naps today...Can't wait to get back to work.
  22. Moving to Stage III Purees tomorrow. I will start with some chunky meat soups that others have suggested then move to puréeing some meat with gravy/broth. Monique - I gave them to the Salvation Army. One more closet to go through that I will donate as well. Yes it’s not fun giving up our nice clothes but its great getting down into smaller sizes.
  23. Hi Lee – Congrats on the weight loss!!!!!!!!!!! I’m averaging about the same calories and I’m a little hungry but nothing like I would be if I had my entire stomach. It’s a small hunger that’s very easy to deal with. I hope it stays this way! Looking forward to our call today! I’m wondering how well I’ll like purees. I plan on trying some steak, beef and chicken and pureeing them with broth and gravy. I bought a food processor last summer for the first band attempt that I’ve not used so it should be interesting. Good day everyone!
  24. Morning everyone! Swrktp – So sorry about your job! So much to catch up with this past day! I hope everyone is having a great day! Lee – Weighed myself today two weeks post-op! Yippee! Down 15 pounds. How are you? We should get called today to move forward in the next day or two to purees. I'm still not very hungry, you?
  25. Hello Everyone! Lee - Loose skin is just fine! Yes tomorrow is two weeks! Looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow am. Hoping to be down at least 16 lbs post-op. Getting close to 100 pounds lost. Hip hip hurray! I'm still not very hungry! This Sleeve (Terminator) is amazing!
