Thanks! I didn't think I lost much the week before but the Metamucil kicked in this week and I ran a home run! Don't be jealous get even! haha How are you? Had some saliva/stomach bile come up last night but the food stayed down.

Thanks! Not to encourage Starbuck trips but I recently read a article about secret menus at restaurants (mostly fast food). They said Starbucks has a secret size called “Short size”.

Ashley – Congrats!!! Almost there Sleeve sister!!! Pat – I really notice a difference in your pics since we met! Way to go! Have fun with Yoga! It was great seeing those that attended the PW mtg yesterday! Nice meeting those that I hadn’t met before! Drum roll…… Five and half weeks post-op and now down 30 pounds. I do all my official home weigh-ins on my Wii balance board. I’ve been weighing myself on my bathroom scale but that thing has a mind of its own. Haven’t weighed myself on the Wii since last Sunday. Got to love terminator! At this rate I’ll never get to wear all my clothes in this size. Oh well got some clothes to shrink into still. Happy Sunday!!!

Hi Everyone! Candra - Sorry to hear you are having some trouble. Get back on track tonight! Hope to see you Saturday, understand if you have to work. Lee – I read the CNN blogs on that story and yes some were idiots. I see that you said: The Sleeve is not friendly to "one bite too many". Did anything come back up? Curious as I’ve had several episodes and you have done so well! I’m a bit hungry today more then I have felt since surgery.

Evening Ladies! Donna – Yes I'm planning on attending the Saturday Mtg but I’ll have to skip the lunch. Not ready for a restaurant just yet. Maybe we can have a get together after the April PW meeting for Nicolie? Tamara – Brianna is sooooo cute!!! Jes – You look great. Big difference! Laurel – So glad you are doing well!! Take it slow. You are on your way to a slimmer you! Nicolie – Glad you found a reasonable place for fills. Sorry no cats for me. Thanks everyone for the nice pic comments!! Anyone watch the bariatric piece on CNN last night?

Yup. Nikki say hello!!!

On CNN Anderson Cooper tonight they had a girl 14 years old that weighed 440+ pounds. She was just Sleeved. Interesting story. It repeats again in an hour 10pm PT. The Mother had a band.

Thanks Tamara! That’s what I remember Band people weigh and Sleeve should always measure. I sort of miss measuring as it was easier for some items. Keep up the good work!

Hi Ladies!! Pat I have uploaded a few pics to my private album. Most were taken a year or so before I started my weight loss journey. The two Mexico pics were taken closest to my highest weight (345) and four months before orientation. If you hover the mouse over a pic it should give you a short caption. Now I have to find one for my avatar (yes I know finally) and a few for the half way point. Send me a friend request if you like to view or be my friend  Metamucil is working a small bit. I know you were all dying to know. Night!

Tamara – What did she say about the weighing / measuring? 210 You can do it! I’m working towards 210 as well. Hopefully I’ll get there by June. The pics look great! Thanks Jes! I’ve stalled this last week, not dropping anything! And I mean anything! Time for some Metamucil tomorrow!
-
Heather - Yes it does. LOL Do you have a date to go see him? Sorry don’t mean to imply any pressure just want the best for you! Tamara – Get back on track! You can do it!!!

Hello Everyone! Happy Monday! Hi Lee! I’m surprised to hear that they used mesh. You should ask him. It was explained to me they hadn’t offered the Sleeve with the mesh because it had a higher rate of complications. Can you see it on your surgery picture? I don’t see anything but a staple line on my pic. Doc Who told me they use something to prevent bleeding where the stomach is cut, maybe that’s what they’re talking about. Yesterday I had 1/3 cup of meatballs come back up. That’s all I ate and it was not even a full 1/3 cup. Spoke to Doc Who today and he said an occasional vomit is nothing to be concerned with. I’ve got plenty of energy, I feel good and not very hungry so in all I’m very happy. How are you? Congrats Laurel!!! Welcome to the other side! Rest and relax!

Hi Tamara! Laurel – Yes next Saturday is PW mtg. Hope to see you then. Let us know how things go tomorrow! You’ll do fine, great staff. Pam – The particular Sleeve procedure that Kaiser performs in new (Summer 2009). I’ve only spoken to one person who had the new procedure done by Kaiser last August. She is very happy. There are many people who had the Sleeve done outside Kaiser that are happy, many band revisions. The difference in old and new Sleeve procedures is the old one cuts your stomach down in size and wraps a mesh type (sleeve) material around the stomach to seal it. This procedure had some complications and Kaiser Doctors have fixed many patients that had the procedure done outside Kaiser. The new procedure that Lee & I had uses three rows of very small titanium staples to seal the stomach. Like the band the old Sleeve had complications with your body rejecting it and erosion into the stomach. The new Sleeve procedure doesn’t have much history and for that reason is a little risky. But I will say my doctor believes it will become the surgery of choice, it will have excellent weight loss results and it will not have the headaches of maintenance that can come with the band. Have fun RV’ing!!! I have a travel trailer and enjoy getting out an hour or two around SAC camping. I’m going to Rancho Seco in a couple weeks. It’s only $15 a night and is a very nice small RV park. Maybe we should all plan a camping trip this summer!!!! I hope everyone is a having a great Sunday!!

Hi Ladies!! Work was great today! Not tired and no PB’ing so it’s a great day! I cut back a little on the thin sliced turkey deli meat and all went down well. The one egg I had for breakfast produced a little pressure down under but not bad. Yes Lee I do measure each meal. I’m finding that some food I can eat about a 1/2 cup while other food I can only handle 1/3 cup. Still not that hungry so all is good! I hope you all have a great weekend and have fun on Pat’s walk!

Pam - I don't remember anything, maybe Lee might know. Lee? Eating slow, chewing well, and sticking to the correct size portion probably helps (which I’m doing). So far the two most severe pressure moments have come when I ate new food for the first time since surgery. The doc said the pressure will subside after about a year. I would imagine even after a year if you ate too much you would feel the pressure. Terminator is working that’s for sure. Got to love it! Hopefully I’ll loss another 20 pounds this month.
-
Hi Pam - I'll try that if it happens again. Hopefully it won't. As much as these episodes are a discomfort, I'm so grateful for the restriction. I'm told that it takes about a year for the Sleeve high pressure feeling to subside. With the Sleeve when you eat thickdense foods you really feel the restriction starting in the stomach thus the high pressure zone since the stomach is so small. Since the Sleeve restriction is in the stomach I would imagine it’s a bit different feeling then the band restriction but the PB'ing and food backing up in the esophagus is probably similar. It’s a learning lesson but one I am quite happy with! Thanks for the tip!

Hi Everyone! Great day back at work! Didn't get tired like I expected. For lunch I had sliced turkey deli meat and well it didn't go down that well. For 40 minutes I spit into the bathroom sink and some towels at my desk. Thought the food was going to come up but it didn’t. I sort of was wishing it did as it was somewhat painful and uncomfortable. I spit out a lot of saliva and some stomach bile came up but no food. I'm having the same meat tomorrow for lunch so I’ll only eat half and wait 30 minutes or so before trying some more. Beautiful day out! Hope everyone is doing well. Just a few days Laurel! You will do just fine!
-
Thanks Pat!! Will miss you Saturday its Nikki's birthday weekend or is it week! Haha Have a great time! Tamra - Back on track, back on track! Pat said it well. Get your mind back into it! You can and you must!

Hi Ladies!! Happy St. Patrick’s day!!!!! Jess – Happy one year orientation anniversary! One year after orientation and one month post-op to the day I went to see Doc Who this morning. All went well! I’ve lost 20 pounds since Sleeve surgery and I still don’t feel that hungry. Love being on soft foods now!!! I’m eating 1/3 - 1/2 cup of mostly soft proteins each meal. I feel so fortunate to have Kaiser and be in this bariatric program. I had my two band failures which were very difficult to deal with but I’m ecstatic now about my progress and future weight loss potential. Lee – 18 pounds that is awesome! My home scale didn’t show any loss this week but between the Kaiser scale in Lincoln last week and the Richmond scale today I was down 5 pounds. The Doc told me I should lose about 20 pounds a month until the summer when I level out. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I go back to work tomorrow which should be interesting.

Ali - I have been married almost 16 years. I was joking about renewing vows to get Reggie to cook for us. Haha She is a wonderful host. One more meal of semi purees as I sort of advanced myself a couple days ago. Just can’t stand purees so I’ve been eating some soft food the last two days. Tomorrow is all soft food and no crappy purees! Yippee! Did you get a case manager appointment? Nicolie – I’m sure you will get a fill! I’ll warm him up to it on Wednesday! Haha
-
Candra – Good to hear from you! Hope Rambo is doing his job!
-
Nicolie – Wow nice pics. You guys look great! Reggie – Holy cow! Nikki and I are renewing our vows next month. Got plans? JK! You did such an awesome job! It looks absolutely amazing! I've got friends!
