I too had decided to get the lapband until I found this board. I changed my mind to the sleeve after that. Just waiting on the insurance co.. They approved the band but I'm not sure about the sleeve. If they don't approve the sleeve I will borrow the money and go to Dr Aceves. I would rather do that than have the worry of the lapband. I think it would pay off in the long run. Mentally, physcially and money wise. I'm trying to save a little extra money just in case. No vacation this year Eat out only once a week. Eating alot of fresh veggies out of the garden. Selling the extra big brown eggs from my chickens. Not buying any new FAT clothes. It don't cost any money to spend the extra time walking more, visiting older friends from church, or playing with the grandchildren. I might even burn a few extra calories.LOL, Judy

Hi Wasa, I'm so glad that my recipe gave you good memories. You can find ham hocks in the meat dept of most grocery stores. A ham hock is a chunk of pork meat that is above a pigs' foot. (ankle) It taste a little like country ham. Ham hocks are used to season dried Beans too. (Pinto, Nothern, Navy ect..) Collard greens are really good seasoned with ham hocks. If I were using ham hocks to season greens, I would put the ham hocks in a large pan of Water and let them boil until tender. It will take awhile. Skim off the white foamy film that might come to the top of your water. It's fat. Add your fresh, canned or frozen greens in the pot with your ham hocks and water. Put on the lid and simmer. It dosen't take very long for the greens to cook. You can find fresh greens in the produce dept. of most grocery stores or farmers markets. I always strip the large stem from the fresh greens before cooking. I hope this helps. They are so good served with cornbread. I know that is a no-no now. LOL Judy

Jaffa Steve, I'm so glad that they are doing so well. I feel for your wife with the gas pain. I had it for several days when I had a hysterectomy a few years ago. I walked with a hot water bottle held against my stomach. Give her a big hug. That will help alot. Judy

Mommatobe, Congrats. on getting your sleeve. I'm still waiting to get mine. I am so glad that you met up with Jaffa Steve and wife. Keep us posted on how you are doing. I woke up this morning with a terrible headache. I think it is from caffine withdrawal. I only had one glass of tea yesterday instead of 4 or 5. I just took some tylenol and drank some tea. I hope I can get rid of this headache. I don't want to end up in the ER having to get an IV again because of the severe pain and non stop voimiting. I'm praying for relief soon.:001_rolleyes:

I have been checking the mail box everyday and waiting for the phone to ring. I am tired of waiting for someone to call and let me know something. I went to the seminar and turned my paper work in over 3 weeks ago. I have'nt heard a word from anyone. I left a message on two different occations. I didn't even get a call back. I hate to wait. LOL I know people have to do paper work and wait on the insurance company, But they could at least return your calls. It kinda makes me a little nervous. What if I had a question or concern after surgery. Would they call me back? Makes me wonder. Got my fingers crossed for Monday. :001_rolleyes:

I have to do what is right for me now and you will have to move on. I have new plans now for my life and you are not in them. You will never touch my lips again. I have a new drink in my life now and it is called WATER. I am now soda free.:001_rolleyes: YES!

Hi Lisa, Thanks for telling us how your journey is going. It not as easy as everyone thinks, is it? You hang in there. I know you are going to make it. I'm right here rooting for you. You are setting an example for the rest of us and giving us hope that we will get there too. Hugs, Judy

I went to a seminar on 6-5. I turned in all my paper work and insurance info. that day. The insurance said they will pay. I have not heard back from anyone. I have called twice and get a recording to leave a message. I did not recieve any calls back. Maybe I'm just getting impatient. Did everyone else take this long to hear back from anyone? Thanks, Judy

Thank you for responding to my question. I wanted to have this surgery while I was off from school this summer. (Kindergarten Assistant). I need time to recover before taking on 28 five year olds all day. LOL It was the MD's office that I left messages with and haven't heard anything from.

Hello Everyone, I found out last week that my insurance would pay for me to have a band. I would rather have the sleeve. They won't tell me if they will cover that without me telling them the medical code for the sleeve. Does anyone know what the code for this is? :thumbup1: Thank You, Judy
-
I have Humana Commonwealth Optimum PPO. I finally found out the code by calling a hospital that does the surgery. I then called the insurance co. and they said that it was an unlisted code with them right now but the Dr could get it preauthorised. I guess we will see. Thanks, Judy P.S. the code for the sleeve is 43659. Maybe this will help someone else.

Hi Michele, I was in Louisville on Friday. Seven friends got together to Celebrate one of the friends retirement. We went shopping at the Oxmore Mall and then went out to eat at a place called something Paradise. Very retro but the food was good. Nice talking to you. Good Luck! P.S. My daughters' name is Michelle too.

Hi Michelle, I'm from KY too. I will be going to the seminar on 6-9 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in E-town. I found out that my insurance will pay but I have to do 6 months of dieting. I think I have a few months I can count from WW, but I have to get my info together. It's nice to meet another KY gal. Welcome and good luck in your journey. Keep me posted on how you're doing. Judy

Hi Bobbie, I'm new too. I start my 6 month diet tomorrow also. I'm going to see if they will let me do the 3 month diet and 3 month of curves so I wont have to wait so long. Nice to meet you and good luck. Judy
