My experience for you newbies
Ky.hen replied to Nanna509's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nanna, Thank you for posting your story. It really touched my heart. You are right about the food coming before our perfect God. When I think of all the money and time that I have wasted on food it is terrible. Just think what I could have been doing instead to help someone else. Hugs to you. -
Lan, Welcome to the forum. I'm also 54 and will be getting the sleeve soon. It is a big decision to make but I know it is the right one every time I look at my children and grandchildren. They need me to be healthy and I do not want them taking care of me for years because of my health. Just hang in there and it will work out.

Thinking of you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Lizzy I will be having my surgery the day after you. Flying out of Louisville, Ky. on Sept 30th and surgery on Oct. 1st. My hubby will be coming with me. Are you going alone? I can't wait to meet you. Maybe we can talk in the chat room.

It sounds like you are doing great. You are so lucky to have such a good program close to you. Did your insurance cover the program?

Hi Don, Welcome to the vsg family forum. You are going to find alot of good info and advice here. Keep on posting. It was nice to meet you. -
I became a christian at age 8. Southern Baptist Normal or below normal weight all through school. Married the day after 12th grade graduation. Dream was to become a mother. Brought first child home on our first ann. Gained 50 lbs. while pregnant. Lost 30 lbs taking diet pills. Pregnant again. Gained 50 more lbs. Lost and gained weight on several diets. Adopted a child and gained weight. Lost 40 lbs. twice on WW. Gained it all back and more. Became very depressed due to several major things in my life. Developed High Blood Pressure. Migrains, insomia. Thought about taking an over dose on several occations. My faith in God pulled me through. I love to cook big country meals like my mother and grandmother. I have to have my comfort food. It is my friend and makes me feel safe. I have been doing alot of research and have decided on the sleeve. I AM TAKING MY LIFE BACK!!! I am now in charge and with the help of God and DH I will make it. I attended a seminar and turned in my packet 3 weeks ago. Just waiting to hear from someone. I want 100 lbs. gone My family Dr. is sending me to a RA specialist next week. She said my RA factor is 56 and it is not suppose to be over 16.:lol0: I wondered why I was hurting so much. I thought it was age and weight. Thanks in advance for all the support I'm going to ask for.:lol0: Hugs, Judy

Hi Rebekah, Congrats on your date. I know what you mean about being nervous. I feel the same way. I put it in God's hands and pray alot. I think everybody gets scared before they have thier surgery. Just talking to all my new friends on this forum has helped alot. I'm hoping to set an example for my family by loosing weight and changing my eating habits. My Doc told me that I would add at least 15 years to my life by having this surgery done. I'm going for it. Keep me updated on your progress. It was nice to meet you. Hugs, Judy

Good to hear from you Ange. I'm glad that is over for you. Now you are on your new path. Bob, You reminded me of one of my kindergarteners. A little boy kept going around sticking his finger in everybodys face saying "pull me, pull me". Well, he asked the wrong kid. He grabbed his finger and jerked him across the room. Then he was screaming "let go, let go". LOL

Good Luck to you! I'm happy that you have your date.

Ky.hen replied to luvinitcuzican's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Luv, and welcome to the vsg family forum. Congrats. on your decision. I will be getting my sleeve on Oct. 1st by Dr. Aceves. Maybe I will see you there. Good Luck! -
How many jars of pickles do you think I can smuggle in my carry on bag and still leave room for my clothes? I thought I better start this thread here and stop taking over AJ's thread. No kidding, How big can our carry on bags be? I don't want to bother with checking in luggage. I'm already packed but I'm afraid my sachel is too big.

No, I don't crave ice cream. Too old for that. LOL I have canned several jars of sweet and dill pickles from my garden. Several friends on this board want me to bring some when I go to Mexico for my sleeve. They want to meet me and get some pickles. By the way, I will have 24 watermelons that will be ripe soon I hope. I guess I could pretend to be pregnant and hide one of those under my shirt.

That is a big breakthrough. Congrats to you and Colin!

Great job Mac! Daisy, I'm sorry for your troubles and hope things get better soon.

Need some support.....
Ky.hen replied to PurricanChick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kat, Welcome to the forum. Don't feel bad about the past. You have learned from it and are moving on. Everyone has troubles that they have gone through so we all know where you are coming from. I know what you mean about the Pepsi. I have been adicted to diet Pepsi for years. One to two 2liters a day. I quit in May. I was in a resturant last week and told my sister-in-law that I could probably put my mouth under the pepsi fountain and drink it dry. LOL keep us updated on your progress. -

Conflicted - approved and scheduled for RNY but thinking Sleeve
Ky.hen replied to KatieSue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi KatieSue and welcome to the forum. I was in the same boat as you. My insurance will pay for lapband or bypass but not the sleeve. After checking out the pros and cons of these surgeries, I decided on the sleeve. I am self pay. I borrowed some of the money against my car to finance the surgery. My hubby was worried about the money at first too. We had a long discussion about everything concerning wls and he is in agreement with me now 100% about getting the sleeve. I will be going to Dr. Aceves in Oct. Cost 9,000 for everything. I have heard alot of good things about Dr. Garth and I watch his show on tv all the time. Big Medicine. I plan to give all the test results and reports to my family Dr. She has agreed to take care of all my after care. If I have a problem I can call Dr. Aceves anytime. If an emergency happens I will go to the emergency room and my insurance will cover it. Hope this helps. -

Good luck on a safe trip and speedy recovery AJ. Vegas and Daisy, Please, Please go to Mexico when I'm there. I would love to meet you both. I will be at Lucerna on Sept. 30th and surgery on Oct. 1st. -
It will be 53 more days before I get my sleeve. I'm already packed. I have my protein powers, broth and clear liquids ready. I hope after I get the sleeve I will be able to tolerate eating yogurt. It always taste like rotten gravy to me. Yuck!
