Banded today..some discomfort..HELP!!!
yolieszabo replied to 2911plans's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on May 29th and I was starving during my liquid stage. I went to the doctor this past friday for my one week follow-up and he put me on mushies, and he said that if I do well with that this week I can start soft foods next friday. I just started having pains in my left shoulder area yesterday. It feels like my muscles are really tense and I need a really good massage! I'm not sure if this is from gas or what, but it's uncomfortable to say the least. I'm not a big fan of pain meds--so I usually try to tough it out, but I'm thinking some tylenol might be helpful tonight to help me sleep through this pain. I have to tell ya that this forum has been awesome. I know that the first few days post op I was sitting there totally regretting my decision to get the band. After a four days I started feeling better, and the regret went away. Reading these threads has helped me to realize that what I was feeling is normal and others have dealt with the same things. Lindsayb, I wish you a speedy recovery! A punctured lung is crazy and I definitely feel for you. If your really hungry talk to your doctor and see if they will put you on mushies to help that feeling. When I started mushies it was like heaven. The first thing I had was SF choc. pudding and it was sooooo good! I'm less hungry now and even though I don't really feel any restrictions yet (scheduled to get first fill July 6th) I am noticing more of a full feeling than before I had the band. Hang in there, the liquid stage doesn't last forever! -
PB is productive Burp. Basically it's when you overeat and your food comes back up. It's not like throwing up--or so I've been told. It's more like when a baby eats to much they spit up the food--it's the same thing.

I got banded May 29th, and I started mushies yesterday. I'm so excited to finally start something other than liquid's! My doc scheduled my first fill on July 6th, so I'm nervous and excited to get some kind of restriction because right now I'm not really feeling any. I haven't PB'd yet, and I hope I don't do it; but I have been running to the bathroom constantly after I eat. It's so nice to read about other people who were banded around the same time and compare stories on how they are doing. It's nice to know that how I feel or what I am going through is sorta normal. Wish you all the best on your journey's!

That is sooo crazy because I started my period the day after surgery and I felt horrible for the next two days. When my period lightened up I felt good again. I didn't go #2 for I think it was two days after surgery and then one morning I decided to drink a Protein shake and I had horrible diarrhea. The next day I had some SF Jello and again, horrible diarrhea. Yesterday was the first regular bowel movement I've had, and then today I ate some mushies and again I had diarrhea. I'm not sure what the deal is, but I'm getting real tired of running to the bathroom after I eat. My mom seems to think that instead of PBing I'm reacting the from the opposite direction. I just hope things thicken up and get back to normal soon!

I used mymedicalloan.com to help finance my surgery. You can try them--it was pretty easy. The only thing I didn't like was they charged a fee for the loan, so if you get approved for $7000, you actually only get $5900 to go towards you procedure and the rest is a fee for the loan. That part sucks, but if you don't get carecredit it's a way to go. I used both care credit and mymedicalloan.com to finance my surgery. Good luck

I just went to the doctor today for my 1 week check-up and everything is going so good that I can now start mushies and within a week go to soft foods! I am so excited I scheduled my first fill for July 6th. My doctor likes to fill about once a month to really help with the weight loss, so I am nervous, but excited to be progressing towards that first fill. I had sugar free pudding today for the first time in awhile and it was sooooo good! I'm excited to move to a stage that isn't liquid and actually contains food! I was told I could have very thin lunch meats, string cheese, beans, etc. so I am stoked about spending dinner actually eating with my family instead of me drinking and them eating! As long as I can tolerate this food then I can progress to other things. Hopefully I can tolerate it and not have to go back to liquids!

So today is June 3rd, and I am finally starting to feel good. It's been a little rough the last few days. I haven't really had any nausea, but I have been running to the bathroom the past few mornings after drinking a protein drink or eating sugar free jello. I was exhausted the past few days so I started taking B12 vitamins and adult chewable vitamins and I feel really good today. I woke up this morning feeling great--barely sore, less gas . . . I hope it lasts throughout the day! I see the doctor on Friday to check my incision sites, and I'm hoping that he puts me on Mushies because I am sooooo hungry. My stomach is growling! It's ridiculous! We'll see. I've lost 20 lbs so far 11 of that is after the surgery. I still feel the same, but that's why my nurse told me to take weekly pics of myself to compare to each other so that even though I think I look the same I can look at the picture and see how I'm losing weight. So I'm planning on taking another picture on Friday a week from my surgery date to see how I've changed compared to my post-op picture. My husband says he can see it, but I still can't. Oh well. Hopefully the picture will help.
