    Hair loss issues anyone??

Also, I think I should have added that if you haven't had it done lately, you should have your blood drawn and checked for deficiencies, such as B-12 as mentioned above.

    Hair loss issues anyone??

Yeah, the only thing I can think of is to get as much protein in as you can, take biotin, and treat your hair really gently. If you heat style it (blowdry, flatiron, curl, whatever), stop and give it time to heal

    Hello

Also keep in mind that there are other types of weight loss surgery besides a gastric bypass and LAP-BAND. I've heard a lot of good things about the VSG and its older sibling the DS. (VSG is actually part of the DS procedure.) Become really introspective and figure out what behaviors led to your obesity, then figure out what surgery is best suited to you. If you eat a little bit at a time all day, the band isn't going to work for you because you can still eat a little bit all day long. Really, I can't stress this enough: research until your eyes are bleeding

    I'm hungry

You're hungry because you haven't had anything to eat in days! It's completely normal. I went into surgery hungry, I came out hungry, and I remained hungry until I could start on mushy foods. Also realize that some of it might not be hunger--I had to relearn what my new version of hungry felt like after I had surgery. Some of it might just be because you're stomach's mad at you for putting it through some trauma. Don't worry, you can make it through. It's difficult and it's frustrating, but you can do it. And you'll look back on it in a month or so and think, "Hey, that wasn't bad!"

You guys are cute and awesome. Chase, my guy wrote a response to your question on my blog, if you'd like to check it out. I'd copy and paste it, but there's a lot of text Go here: The Boy’s Viewpoint On the Band So Far

    Hello from Alabama

Jessica, welcome to LBT! I was a financed patient--bariatric procedures were excluded from my insurance policy. I went to my seminar on May 19th and had my pre-op testing on May 21st. On the 21st, I made the appointment to have surgery on June 18th. I could have done it on June 11, but I was out of town that week nmmama, you might want to consider posting a specific question as its own thread; you'll probably get more responses that way! My experience is all on my blog. Maybe looking around at blogs people have would help you out (look at signatures throughout LBT for links, as a lot of us are also bloggers .
  11. Wow. That's amazing. Mine was $15,000 with fills for a year. I'm having a port revision next week--they're coding it as an exploratory abdominal procedure so I only have my insurance deductible to pay for, but still. Coming up with that extra $500 was hard.

    What about spicy foods?

I think it's a result of the bland, liquidy, mushy diet I was on for so long, but I have a harder time with spicy foods than I used to. My taste buds are slowly getting their tolerance back, though As far as being restricted because they might damage the band--nope, not that I've heard from anyone. Eat spicy food to your heart's content!
  13. I was on BC when I had surgery in June and I will still be on BC when I have my revision next week. I wasn't told to stop taking it and I made sure my surgeon knew about all of my medications.... Hrm.
  14. You're a cute lady :tt1: I'm jealous of your single incision surgery! I have so many scars! Best of luck to you.

    Hello....I'm new here.

Welcome to LBT. Make sure you do a lot of research before you go through with the surgery so that you know exactly what you're getting into. It's a hard road, but worth it :tt1:

    Hello!...Post Surgery Newbie

The switch from liquids to mushy foods was heavenly for me, but the switch to solid foods was frightening. I was so afraid I was going to screw something up by not chewing enough, talking bites larger than I should have, etc. But it's been fine :tt1: The time to your first fill will go faster than you think!

    Forum Newbie, banded in Sept.

It is possible that you have a leak, but it's also possible that you just haven't reached "the spot" yet. Some people need 8 or 9 ccs before they get restriction. I spent four months in the 270s and was really really frustrated. It seemed like the pounds were flying off of those who were banded at the same time I was; it was amazingly frustrating! If I've learned anything, it's that no two journeys are the same--your experience will be like no one else's. Hang in there :tt1:

    Newbee

Some surgeons wait longer, but I had my first fill right at four weeks after surgery. Welcome to banded life :tt1:

    Surgeon consult today

Yay! Best of luck to you!

    questions

Like kkarryll said, it's possible to eat "slider" foods that slip through the band easily. It's also possible to eat frequently. When you're banded, you can eat a cup of food, wait an hour, eat another cup of food, wait another hour.... Combine this with high-calorie foods, and you're setting yourself up for failure.

    Liver Shrinking Prior to Surger

I didn't have to lose a certain number of pounds for my pre-op diet; I lost 9.2 pounds in the three weeks before surgery. I detailed my pre-op diet here: Banded Girl
