Is It Bad Right Now To Eat Until Full?
thebandedgirl replied to MaryfromMI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd change "full" to "sated." If you're like me, you had no idea what full was and instead went for overstuffed. Welcome to Bandster Hell--I hope your first fill helps  -
Yeah, unfortunately it sometimes takes a try or two to get the offending food out
-
I haven't experienced this during any "stuck" episode. The blob of food kind of hangs out for a bit, usually.

Long time lurker, first time post
thebandedgirl replied to meandtheboys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to posting and congrats on the easy insurance approval! So many people fight to get their bands paid for--it's nice to hear about someone not struggling with it. -
12 days to go! No Pre-op diet?
thebandedgirl replied to Chele6378's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is so much variation when it comes to what surgeons require pre-op! Some require no diet at all, some require three weeks. Just do what your surgeon tells you to do and you'll be golden! Congratulations  -
Your esophagus pushes food down your throat into your stomach. When you're banded and eat the wrong types of foods, don't chew enough, or take bites that are too large, the food can't make it through your band and causes a blockage. Stuck food only has two ways to go. Either your body will manage to push it through or it will come up

thebandedgirl replied to ladysoulseeker06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LBT and congrats for being willing to do so much research! A lot of people go into weight loss surgery (WLS) blind and don't know what they're getting themselves into. It is, after all, the easy way out according to many people. I assure you, weight loss takes a lot of work, no matter how you do it. There is a lot of great information on these pages and many wonderful people who have been in your position. Welcome to the site  -
Hi Michael, Congrats on having your consult scheduled and on being so close to getting a surgery date! Welcome to LBT

Help in the Windy City!!!!!
thebandedgirl replied to chakatw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in the same boat! Keep doing what you're doing--your body will catch up soon. I'm not one of the people who lost 80 pounds in six months, but I *have* lost, and that's more than would have happened if I hadn't had surgery. I know it's frustrating! -
Husband question..
thebandedgirl replied to Becky Lou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Boy didn't want me to have surgery, either. He was concerned about complications, death, and convinced that I could lose weight on my own. Ultimately, though, he knew that it was my body and my life and he's been very supportive. I asked him if he'd ever worried that I would lose all of my weight and leave him; he said that he is concerned about it now but the thought hadn't occurred to him before  I'm really sorry that your husband isn't being supportive. As others have said, I think that reassurance is the best medicine for the problem. Good luck  -
Hi, Lauren. Welcome to LapBandTalk and good luck on your journey

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had so many complications to deal with while being alone! I really hope you start to feel better soon. Let me know how I can help you through the Internet! We're both fortunate to have supportive people in our lives to help us through this. So many people have to go it alone, even in committed relationships. I do have a great Boy. I'm grateful for him every day. -

Getting my life back.
thebandedgirl replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you very much :smile2: -
I'm sure that every experience is different, but the appointment I made to go to the seminar consisted of me filling out new patient paperwork and talking to an already banded patient advocate for a while. It took about an hour :smile2: My second appointment was with a physician's assistant, where she went over my weight struggles and medical history. I had my EKG and scheduled surgery. It took less than an hour.

What to eat? rather drink
thebandedgirl replied to taybjb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Clear liquid? Various broths (chicken and veggie, maybe beef), JELL-O, juice (apple, white grape). Ummmm....This is hard for me because I'm not very creative :smile2: -
Hi! I financed through Care Credit and had surgery at the True Results location in Scottsdale, Arizona because the insurance I had at the time excluded bariatric procedures. It actually was pretty easy. In some ways, I think it's easier to finance. You can read about my financing and pre-operative testing if you'd like by going to Gastric What? . Basically, I went in on a Tuesday, did my pre-op testing on Thursday, and had surgery scheduled for four weeks later when I walked out of the office that day. I don't know if the process differs from one True Results office to the next, though. I'd be interested if you'd let me know how it goes for you if you go through them (and even if you don't!). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions I can answer.
