Flipped Port
juliansmom2003 replied to MustLooseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG congrats on losing the 148 lbs! That's amazing! I go in for my first fill tomorrow (under fluoro) and I'm worried I am going to hear the same thing. Did you have any indications that it flipped? Did the doc tell you what could have caused it? Gosh, it's always a new set of worries with this thing LOL! Lots of luck on your revision. You will be in my thoughts. Please let us know how it goes. -

juliansmom2003 replied to ToddNYG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, other than waiting three months for a freaking fill LOL! Honestly, I am thrilled with the results. I can actually tell that I'm losing weight, I feel better and I'm motivated to keep going. I was one of the lucky ones that couldn't even tell I was banded with the exception of a couple of times I was a real bonehead and ate too fast (but that was only recently). I've been very lucky! -
First Fill Tomorrow.....FINALLY!!!!!
juliansmom2003 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woooohoooo! I never thought the day would come! I have my first fill tomorrow morning at 7:45!!!! It will be nice to eat these smaller portions and not be as starving! I'm getting used to being hungry :-(! I must have read a zillion posts on fills and being on liquids right after and I can ask the doc this tomorrow, but are we talking clear liquids or can I have egg beater consistency type stuff? I'm fine to drink all my protein for the next few days if I have to, but whenever I can try to chew the protein, I want to! Thanks for any insight you can offer!!! -

Am I in bandser hell?
juliansmom2003 replied to DebbieZig's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ummm, are you hungry? I'd say that's awesome weight loss, but if you're suffering with hunger, then yes, you're in bandster hell. My understanding of bandster hell is really the time between the surgery when your body is healing and your first fill when you have extreme hunger. I know I've been in it (and still am), since I am 3 months post op and just having my first fill tomorrow :-(! Sometimes the weight levels off a bit and you need to play with your calories. Some days I do 800, some days I do 1000 so my body doesn't get used to a certain number and starts holding onto it if I stay on the low end. Are you exercising? Believe me, I hate it, but when the scale stops moving, I try to exercise a little more and that gets it moving again. Hope this helps! Great job on losing half the weight you need to! That's an awesome accomplishment!!! -

Blue Cross not paying for fills
juliansmom2003 replied to prgb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eeek. I have Keystone Health Plan East of PA (a BCBS plan) and I'm still waiting to hear if they will cover it. My fill is on Thursday, so it would be nice to know! -
Valentine's Day Challenge- Weigh in 1/11/10
juliansmom2003 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. Wasn't sure where I should post, but weigh in for today is 185 (down 3 lbs from initial sign in for the challenge at 188). I get a fill on Thursday, so I'm hoping to report a bigger loss next week LOL! -
Wow! I was banded 2 days before you and have lost 30 since the surgery (thought I was doing well LOL). Did you lose any of that pre-op? How many fills have you had? Congratulations on this milestone--you're doing great! 10 lbs a month sounds realistic to me....go for it! Good luck!
-
OMG that's great! I am scheduled for my first fill next Thursday and sooo looking forward to getting some restriction (even if only a little)....

Does anyone get dull pain in their port from time to time?
juliansmom2003 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thread about the flipped port made me really stop and think. I have been having on and off pain in the port area for awhile now. It's not excruciating most of the time (I can remember one occasion when it was) and some days I don't have it at all, but now I'm wondering if it could possibly be a flipped port. My fill is scheduled for next week (under fluoroscope), so hopefully I'll know then. I just wanted to check how easy or hard is it to flip your port? No pain today (of course) LOL. -
Is your goal weight still considered 'overweight'?
juliansmom2003 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just playing around with the old BMI calculator and the goal I have set for myself (145-150 lbs) is still considered to be "overweight" for my height. I am 5 ft 1.5 inches and I look malnourished at 130 lbs. I'm perfectly content being considered overweight on the charts, but I have to admit it does kind of miff me a little bit that my goal is still out of the 'norm' range. Who am I kidding? I've been morbidly obese for so long, overweight looks like a nice alternative anyway LOL Does anyone else have a final goal weight that is still considered to be overweight? -

I thought it might be some nice motivation for us if we did a pic update (before/current). I have to admit I have been feeling down about losing the weight much slower, so I went through some old pics and suddenly I feel better! I'll go first: August, 2009 November 13, 2009 Let's see some before/after pics from everyone! Honestly, I think it's a nice check for us all that we ARE doing a great job!! -

What Is ur calorie Intake?
juliansmom2003 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am around 800-1000 per day. I did notice a slow in weight loss, so I would have 1100 one day and 900 the next to kind of mix it up a bit and it seemed to help. The weird thing is that before the surgery, the nutritionist had me on a 1500 calorie per day diet and I steady lost weight (20 lbs in 3 months). Anyway, I'm in the range of 800-1000. -
