I have had the crappiest spring/ summer. I have had both feet operated on- battled positional vertigo for 4 motnhs .. There is no exercisng and I have gained 6 pounds and am so po'd at myself . I need a fill and our insurance REFUSES to help with ANYTHING that is lap band related . I forgot to mention that last week I fell and broke my tailbone -- this was caused by the dizziness from the vertigo

I am a self pay patient .. Drained savings to dothis .. our so called insurance refuses to pay anything .. even tho my weight loss has allowed me to come off type 2 diabetes meds-this crap insurance says this is an unproven.procedure.. BUT they do pay for penile implants for men on this insurance . very frustraring .. l the other procedures on your feet and your tailbone are probably what is keeping your insurance from clearing the fill... Check back monthly to see what sort of time frame it will be for the next procedure to be covered. I'd focus on good eating, though. Calcium for the bones, the good stuff like that. A fill can't fix that stuff. Are you in PT for your feet? Would swimming with earplugs be out of the question to help the positional vertigo? I taught classes for people with inner ear issues that created vertigo, and practicing moving body from horizontal to vertical in swimming seemed to help. Also, swimming is great, very subtle cardio.

Banded in october--updates please
cruzlady replied to delfinajones's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wa also banded 10/2009-- have lost a little over 60# another 60 to go. I had a fill 11 dyas ago and am considering a 7 hours drive to get a partial unfill. Since the fill I am sliming, no matter what I consume, even gatorade will not stay down. I have massive heartburn and I am miserable . All I can suggest is step up your xercise routine - or add something new to your routine. Good Luck !! -
I had a 1cc fill 8 days ago, and since then I have had horrendous heart burn, uncontrollabe sliming, a sinus infection (family doc gave me spray & antiobiotics) and a headache from hell from the sliming/vomiting. Now I feel like somebody is stabbing me under my shoulder blades . I was banded a little over a year ago and NEVER had any of these problems.. Anybody else have this happen??? I have tried Mylanta, Gaviscon and GasX-- NO RELIEF. BTW-- I am still on liquids after 8 days .. I don't want to drive 7 hours (one way) for an unfill only to find out all of this is caused by the sinus infection.. My family doctor is totally uninformed on banding .. Very Scary!!

Bandaversay approaching & missing BREAD
cruzlady posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is almost a year since I was banded.. I am 58 pounds lighter.. Still CANNOT eat bread.. Will I EVER be able to have a sandwich for lunch or have a jalapeno hush puppy? I tried a piece of (wheat) bread last week and thought I was going to die .. OMG -- the pain was horrible. Now on to my second question.. I am developing a lot of loose wrinkly skin.. I'm wondering if it is to early to see about haviing "Belly Hang" surgically removed .. ANYBODY?? -
How long were you on pain meds?

Bandaversay approaching & missing BREAD
cruzlady replied to cruzlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am thinking about sandwiches when we are out riding the four wheelers thru back country , and there is not a lot you can pack in a cooler that make for a nourishing lunch.. Fellow riders do not know I had surgery , so it makes it 2x as hard to pack something to eat. -
One year out.. Not doing well.

Find an indoor pool and start water walking .. easy on the body but great exercise. As for the meat thing ,, I have a problem with meat . I can eat very small quantities, and for the first 5 or 6 months , I put it in a small food processor.. Didn't look great , but I was able to keep it down. aT A YEAR OUT ,I cannot eat bread, bacon, or beef-- well, I guess I can eat beef- ground sirloin that I make my chili with, but it is broken down into very fine texture in the chili. -

Or If I weant to feel like I am having a treat.. I throw it in a blederwith ice.. Like a chocolate smoothie.. I hav been banded 11 months and I still have at least one of these a week. -

Did you tell anyone you were having surgery?
cruzlady replied to losethemess's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband , our daughter and my best friend are the only people that know I was banded. I chose to keep this a "private project" -
The last time I was this size, I was....

I love "Say Yes"-- but as we all know ther is no accounting for taste . Sad part of that show is they have very little to offer those that are "calorically challenged" -
I agree, it sounds like a port issue .. I had the same unexplainable sensation for about 3 weeks after my surgery. Now 7 months later, the only problem is my port feel HUGE (externally)now that I have lost weight . Hang in there- the first week a a real eye opener for most of us.. remember , this is part of your lifestyle change .

2nd Day banded, please tell me it goes away..
cruzlady replied to Dblex's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain passes.. Like any other surgery-- your body needs to heal.. I slept almost the entire day after the surgery. -
We are all different and are going to lose at different rates. Protein is key-- I buy EAS Protein Bars to snack on during the day. Cut them up put them in a baggis and when that sneakly little hunger gremlin appears I have one piece of the Protein Bar. Exercise-- And no it is no easy for me to say , since I have arthritis in both knees and both wrists .. I do manage to go Water walking at least 2x a week.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one going thru this .. Fortunately the hiccups do not last long ...

I am still at 47# loss. I seem to be stuck.. Guess I will schedule a fill for May Getting a fill is now a major process for me .. My doctor is in Texas ( 7 hours away). Our daughter used to live there, now she has moved and we used to stay with her a couple of days when drive down , now we drive down, get my fill turn around and drive 1/2 way home before getting a hotel for the night No I won't change doctors.. Mine is great and I am soooo comfortable with him AND his staff. -

cruzlady replied to LiveLifeAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
