I am not telling anyone and once I start losing , I will tell them that I am using an age old remedy -- I am keeping my mouth shut and maybe they should try it . OR Maybe we should tell people we are on the "JUNK FOOD" diet and sticking to it faithfully and maybe they should try it . -
I am scheduled for October 15 --- I don't have to do anything thing except show up that morning with an empty stomach and a check -- Yes, I am self pay .. I am sooo ready to be rid of the old me and see the new me start to emerge ..

I am scheduled for Oct 15, 2009 -
Scheduled for October 15, 2009 Saw my Doctor yesterday.. I am scheduled for 10:45am on Oct 15. I am supposed to start walking a mile a day today.. I told him , If I COULD walk a mile a day would I be this big?? I love a Doctor that doesn't think we can do stuff Just because they say so.. I really like this doctor!!! Also -- he said I should lose 107 -- not 137-- But if I want to drop the extra 20 -- he would not have a problem with that !!!

4 people know about my upcoming surgery .. My husband and daughter , and my 2 best friends .. Anybody else asks why I am going to the hospital, I just tell them its a female thing .. that makes the men back off and the women just shake their head and say -- I'm sorry.. -

Can't you just fax your PCP and ask him to forward the approval.. i faxed my PCP and had them fax referral to the cardiologist I chose.. Saved me a $50 office visit .

Have not yet been banded -- but wondering how many fills are "normal"?? -
My Dr. requires a visit with a therapist .. It was a short one hour visit .. Just talking about life in general and what my expectations were after the surgery .. I see the Dr. the 14th and hope to set date for surgery. (BTW- I am a self pay patient)

Just got out the handy dandy "Book" again.. It states WEIGHT CONTROL: Medications prescribed, dispensed or used in anyprogram of weight control, weight reduction, weight loss or other dietary control are not covered. Weight loss procedures, including complications relating thereto, are not covered. Such a fine program --NOT !!! -
Glad to hear that .. My 2 biggest fears are vomiting , and cravings ... Thanks for responding

I love the holidays -- and all of the cooking and baking that goes along with them.. How do you survive the first few holidays with NO SUGAR ?? I have a sweet tooth that rules my life -- I am wondering how I am going to deal with this after my banding ?? Anbody have any suggestions .. PLUS we have 5 Christmas parties to attend every year ( 2 mandatory for husbands work). NOW for the biggest head problem-- I had a very scary dream last night - - woke up crying becasue the surgery did not go as expected .. Surgical complications .. am I being a scardy cat ???
-
My biggest problem is I am highly allergic to artificial sweetners.. Falling down , rib breaking allergies. Tried Steveia-- Y U K !!! So I can't even have jell-o or things like that .. My ice tea is unsweetened (double YUK), my coffee is black, All I can say is I must have beally bad in a previous life to be punished like this in this one ..
-
I seem to be the oldest person here.. I am 61-- I do not see the doctor until late June .. I am wondering if my age is going to rule out this surgery for me ??
-
I have only Part A on medicare - it only pay for something if you are in a "HOSPITAL" not a surgical care unit or surgical center .

I have already done psych & nutrition class--waste of .. Same EXACT info that I learned 2 years ago at UAMS weight loss program ( what a waste of time and money at UAMS).. But Psych was only $150 and Nutrit- was also $150. My BMI is awful - 47 very scary

The biggest problem is -- on one of the first 3 pages in our "INSURANCE HANDBOOK' In bold latters-- We DO NOT pay for any kind of weight loss programs" - BUT they do pay for penil implants for me .. WTF -- Where is the justice ??? 2 years a go I tried the UAMS liquid weight loss diet -- the min. I got off the liquid , I gain the 30#'s back PLUS another 13#. That was also out of pocket.. $75 a week for food supplements,, $100 every toher week for lab work, time involved getting to UAMS -- PARKING for a fee - waddling 3 blocks to the building only to find out they have changed the class room location AGAIN - waddle another 2 block to the class- sit on small wobbly metal chairs that are to small for ANYBODY over 150# and I had that plus an additional 85#. I am in Little Rock area -- Am having my surgery done in Texas-- Prices are better and the office staff is MUCH friendlier that the ones I spoke with here. -

Our insurance does not seem to understand "morbidly "obese.. I am type 2 diabetic, mobility impaired and afraid I will die if I cannot get my weight under control.. we are foregoing vacations ,wedding and graduations to pay for this surgery. For what they could save on medication alone -- you think they woould be glad we are willing to undertake this surgery and lifestyle change .. I take 5 medications a day -- at the end of the month that totals almost $500 that insurance has to pay , with our co-pay we are spending $200 a month. If I-- WHEN I lose the weight I am hoping to get off of diabetes meds, depression meds, cholesterol(maybe) and that bring me down to only 2 pills a day . -

My insurance flat out refuses to pay --- So I am a self pay patient .. Ihave had to do the psych eval and nutrition consultation -- all out of my pocket . So that was $300 spent this past week. I will see the surgeon June 22 to set appointment for surgery.
