I am a seven hour drive from my surgeon. I will be getting (hopefully) my first fill Dec. 8. I was banded Oct 15 and as of today , I have lost 2o pounds..

I am having some left side pain, PLUS I cannot sleep on my left side now ..

My weight loss should start improving .. My incisions are finally healed and that means I can get in the pool. I will be waterwalking 2 nights a week. I would love to do more- but on the other nights the pool is just to crowded for Water walking. I have arthritis and have had a knee replaced , so I W.W. because it is so low impact. I am diabetic and it took extra long for incisions to heal.

You can also use gallon milk jugs in the pool.. Put a little water in them for extra resistance or work with them empty. Our pool also has weights and hand paddles for upper body work.. we go to the local rec center . this one keeps water warmer for people like me , with arthritis.

I get my first fill 12/8 -- Glad you had a good experience ..

Anybody have any good mushy recipes they would like to share .. I am sooo excited, I had oatmeal this week.. OMG --a little cinnamon a little skim milk.. YUM!!! I did run the dry oatmeal thru the food processor before I cooked it .:thumbup:

I was on a flight from Denver and a SNART had the seat next to me. She look at at me and said " I am uncomfortable sitting next to a fat person, could you change your seat?" I informed her if she was the princess she thought she was she would be on a private jet and wearing clean jeans and shoes with no holes in them, oh and btw- your makeup should be blended onto your neck, not look like a mask. Yes, I was a bit biotchy, but I did not need her crap ..

The screaming hungries are creeping up on me.. I don't get my first fill until Dec8. I am doing pretty good keeping the little monsters away , but Iam craving 2 things-- Sierra Mist and ORANGES !!!

Soooo, Tuesday evening , The depression fairy found me .. Dh comes home from work, I am sitting in recliner, wrapped in a blanket with tears running down my face.. I have had enough of the liquids , mushies, and the whole thing... HE tells me get dressed we are going out .. Oh great, just what I want -- NOT !!! We pull into red Lobster ( I know cheap so so sea food), but I was excited ... The waiter came and I talked to him and showed him my card and he said he had no problem leting DH and me share a dinner. So we ordered a platter , that had lobster on it .. Husband got everything but the lobster. I shredded that tail and smothered it with lemon juice. This was the best lobster I have ever had . after this dinner , I am back on track. BTW-- No I did not have , salad or bread and I had 1 tablespoon of baked potato with my lobster. Maybe I need to cry more often ...The waiter was a sweetie about all of this and we of course tipped him on double the amount of the bill.

I got mine along with the 3 ring binder from my docotor .. I really don't know how you would get one other than asking your doctor.

Mine is a Patient ID card Lap-Band AP System The back side has muy surgical date and My surgeons name & number Tell that I have lap band and that device is compatible with MRI. Also tell your PCP be careful when prescribing ulcerogenic meds/ Note on bottom: Please allow this person to order smaller portions, as the amount of food this person can eat has been greatly reduced. So if I go to a buffet with friends, I can order the childs portion and save $$$. Which I need since I am a self pay patient ..

I have not had one choking incident .. I think if you stick to the prescribed plan, you will be fine , PLUS think about how great you will look one year from now ..Think about how much healthier you will be . I was banded Oct15-- and 3 weeks later I am down 18#. Sure it is uncomfortab le the 1st couple of days - but that passes and your new life takes over ................

It looks like a credit card -- Says Lap-Band on it . It came with the info pack from my doctor after my surgery. I filled out the on line application(rather than doing the mail in ) and received my card in the mail lessthan a week later.

I have been getting B-12 shots - once a month for the past 18 months . I like it better when I was getting one a week- but the PCP says -- Oh no-- thats to much.. WHATEVER !!! Myhusband gives me the shot and I feel GREAT for about 2 days then the energy level drops again.

I am soooo sorry that you are having 2nd thoughts . I have had not had a moment indecision since I started researching Lap band .. My biggest problem was finding a doctor I liked and trusted .. for me that meant , going to Texas. But that is okay, I will make the 7 hour drive because I love the doctor and his staff. The notebook I got from Dr. B. after my surgery explained the bouts of depression ,so Dh knew what to do and what to expect.. I am feeling so good about myself right now. Granted , I have lost only 16 pounds, but that is a bag of potatoes ,2 loaves of bread and a box of chocolate donuts I am not carrying with me every day.. I will give every pound of loss a designation. Of course it will be something that was bad for me and I ate excessive amounts of it . I guess I am fortunate that I have been able to deal with this . I used the jewelry store after my accident in '96. We were in there trying get my wedding ring cleaned & repaired . Jeweler said "no luck". While the jeweler was inspecting my ring ,of course I was looking around, and had spotted a 1 1/4 carat tear drop shaped diamond set in a WIDE free form gold setting . Jewelers intrepretation of snow melting in the Rockies. DH says to jewlers- Give her that one - and pointed to that ring . I am still wearing it . Dh is terrified of jewlery stores .. Especially custom jewelers.. LOL

I will try sweet potatoes again someday .

The note book my doctor sent me home with had surgical information kit inside the notebook. This kit had a card to fill out and mail in and it tells that I have had surgery , also asks restaurants to allow me to order from the childrens menu due to my surgery. The 3 ring binder I received had sooooo much information and it was like my "owner's manual" for the lap band .. What to expect , what to eat .. everything ..

I get that squished feeling leaning over to put on sox or tie shoes .. It scares me when I get the ouchy ouchy feeling .

I found out yesterday that sweet potato is a BIG no-no for me .. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. It was mashed and still caused problems.........I loveD sweet potatoes !!!!!

I am 18 days post op and still have not had a day when I feel hungry .. IS this normal.. I HATE the liquids and the mushies, but they seem to keep my appetite in check.. Anybody else having this kind of post op experience????

I am trying soooo hard to be good .. So far this week, I have had one DARK CHOCOLATE M&M that DH smooshed between 2 spoons for me . Yesterday I met my true love again. PIZZA- Tore half of the crust off and threw it away and then put the rest in a mini processor and ate about 1/2 of it. I am still on mushies.. Jello, pudding, soup, mashed potatoes and cajun meatloaf.. Of course the meatlove went in the mini processor too. Can't wait to step on the scale angain friday and see what is going on.. I only weigh myself on Fridays.

I didn't think salads were on the approved list???
