Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

Mine port site is still tender as well. I finally slept an almost normal night last night 9 days post op and the left shoulder pain is starting to resolve yay!!! I still have some twinges that take my breath away but at least they are fewer and further between. Went to my first big outing last night a wedding. It wasn't hard to turn the cake away but the meal ugh it smelled so good! Lots of ice water and tea for me with a couple of bites of mashed potatoes. Ohhh it was good. Anyway, I got tired a couple of hours in and we were home by nine. Guess another weeks rest will do me good.

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

Dr. Appt went well. He said the following things are normal: Left shoulder pain, popping (gas), hormones surging (this is the worst for me) not sleeping good, but said everything looked good and if I was tolerating the week two foods to continue on. He also said he'd see me back in 3 weeks for my first fill on June 11th. Official loss in one week 13.2 lbs. However, my perspective is I hate these hormone surges it's causing me to have crying meltdowns everyday, and I'm not sleeping good at all ugh!!!! Any thoughts????

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

My BP has been running lower than normal as well but I think it's because I'm not under any stress not being at work LOL. I'm a Program Director/Nurse Mgr of an adult & geriatric psych units. Do check with your doc about taking meds whole though you don't want to clog your band or it will cause vomiting. I am so looking forward to eating next's weeks additions: eggs, string cheese, mashed potatoes, soft baked fish, ritz crackers I'll let you all know how doc appt goes tomorrow.

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

Sorry Amy posted that before I checked the threads. Meds - yes. I had to stop taking my Tylenol extended release for my fibromyalgia because it can't be crushed. But my Blood pressure meds I just crush and Pepcid same way. The multivitamin and calcium are chewables. I am now mixing my BP meds in yogurt just started that today. Moved up to runny grits and puréed soup today but boy was it ever good and satisfying. Who knew I could eat 4 tbls of something and feel full lol. I initially weighed in last Monday morning fully clothed w/o shoes at my gyn's office at 270 now in nightgown down to 251 of course with nothing but liquids what would I expect! My goal weight is 140 annd I am 5'2.5" so now I have to get active. I am walking just a little need to get a good pair of walking shoes so I can be comfortable and get serious about it!

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

Hi Jennifer! Glad to have another friend here. I made it thru my first night without any pain meds it was rough but I did ok. The only time I was using pain meds was at night to sleep but I need to get off it if I'm going to go back to work on Monday. New problems last night: Muscle spasms in my back Felt a popping sensation in abdominal area Have you experienced anything like this? First post-op appt is tomorrow May 18 we'll see what doc says.

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy

I am 1 week post op tomorrow and I'm supposed to start adding cream of wheat/grits, skim milk, sf pudding, blended soups, puréed vegetables no more than 2-3 oz each meal with 4 oz protein shake in between. I move up each week adding a little more food. I'm drinking plenty but fear maybe too much because I'm afraid of becoming dehydrated. I too had hiatal hernia repair so I still have some tightness in my chest and when I try to burp I hiccup which shoots straight to my left arm/shoulder. I tried not taking any pain meds last night but woke up with severe arm/shoulder pain and had to take a dose. Still can't sleep well on left side or back. I took off all last week and this week from work plan to go back to doctor this Friday for checkup and see if he will release me. I am a program director nurse so do desk work mostly as well.

Great! How are you feeling? Any problems since the surgery? When do you get to start adding food back in? Sorry, lots of questions I know. I have had a fairly in eventful surgery other than I can't get past the severe left shoulder pain and I can't burp hardly at all. What about you?

Thinking of you today and have said a prayer for you! Take it easy and go slow. Hope to see you back on here soon. I am 6 days post op and you do get better in a hurry
  12. An anyone coach me on how to take my blood pressure meds so they don't taste so awful. I'm 4 days post opt and still on full liquids only and they taste horribly bad crushed up.
  13. Hi! My name is Marti and I just had Lapband surgery on May 10th. They also found and repaired a hiatal hernia. My question is this.....I am unable to burp even when I feel like it and have a lot of left shoulder pain is this normal? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Newbie Questions????

Thank you all for responding! What a great place this is to come to as we all journey together and have questions. It so helps to know what I'm feeling is normal and that I just have to hang in there and it will get better. Again, many thanks!

    New To Lbt

Hi Karen! I was just banded May 10th. It too has been a long journey for me. I was turned down twice by My insurance before finally getting new insurance and then getting approval without a hitch. It's sounds like everything happens in the time it's supposed to and yours is now. Good luck on your journey you will do well! I'm finding lots of answers on these boards so you will have two great tools, your band and all these support people how much better can it get?! Take care and happy banding!!! Marti

    Newbie Questions????

Thank you, it helps to know what I'm feeling is normal. Does anything like gas-x help?
  17. Hello, I am just beginning to investigate Lapband surgery. I have been overweight for years. 1990-91 was the last time I actually was "skinny" after I did a 6 month Medifast diet of liquids through a doctor. Since then I have put the weight back on plus a lot more. Have tried weight watchers, regular diets and all to no avail, I lose, I gain. I am so tired of this process but still not convinced Lapband is the route for me either? I'd like to hear pros and cons please and thanks!
