I did it I did it I did it!! I now weigh 198.8, I haven't had a 1 in front of my weight for over eight years. It felt so good to get on the scale and see that this morning. Only 40 pounds to go and I reach my goal weight, I'm hoping for less since I'll be toned/fit this time too. Man does ONEderland feel wonderful right now :thumbup:

Secrets... no secrets really, I had some ups and downs because I tried to cheat on my diet. I got stuck around 205-208 for over 3 months because I couldn't get back on track. The last month I stuck with it and started back at the gym. Two big non-scale victories for me this month too which are HUGE for me: I bought pants in the 'regular' clothing section, a size 16 with no 'W' behind it and at your everyday K-Mart :thumbup: I also ran a mile on the treadmill - never did that even when I was at my thinnest It's been a great month, I'm hoping these victories can help carry me through to my goal. Oh - I always keep those little 100 calorie snack things in my desk so when I get a bad craving I can limit myself to one small 100 calorie snack. I also ALWAYS worry about protein, my husband thinks I'm nuts but I'm obsessed with protein content and work hard to eat protein very first.

Just curious is anyone has done this diet post-surgery with the band. If so, did you do it to help get you over a plateau? Was it successful? Did the weight stay off with exercise? Let us know how HCG worked for you with the band.

Thank you for your honesty Betsy. I'm trying to get over this hump and have changed up my workout to see if that will help. Crossing my fingers it does :biggrin:

I was banded on Sept 16th, the picture on left of each thumbnail was taken the weekend before my surgery. The one on the right was taken the weekend of thanksgiving at my grandfather's funeral.

Amber Welcome! WOW!!! I'm in awe of you 6 1/2 years and going strong. Congratulations on the upcoming marriage We can all learn so much from you, what can you tell us about long-term? Like did your skin retract etc.. I was banded on 9/16/09, my highest weight was 242, I'm now at 215 (still feels weird writing that as my weight, it hasn't been that low in 4 long years). Right now I'm at 4.5 cc's and have a fill scheduled for 1/4. I'm going to ask for another .5cc as things are getting stuck when I forget to chew but I'm not quite full long enough. Anywho, welcome and really - so glad to have you here!!

I got the lap-band on 9/16 and am down 20 pounds so far - YAY! But, after three fills of 1cc each (so I'm at 3cc's of fill) I'm still not feeling hardly any restriction. I was able to eat whatever I wanted for the first two fills and only feeling very minimal restriction with this last one. My question - is this normal? If not normal could I have stretched my pouch :thumbup:? If I did stretch my pouch what can I do to shrink it back? Please help, I do not want to fail! Thanks

Had my follow up visit with my doctor (Dr. Umbach) today to make sure I have everything in before we submit to insurance. I have Anthem Lumenos and the requirements seem to be pretty easy in comparison to others I've heard about. Now it's in god's hands and I have to wait to see if I'm approved or not. I'm 5'4" and weigh 238 pounds. Has anyone else had experience with this plan? How fast were you approved? I've read that some are getting it back pretty quickly but the Dr's receptionist said 2-3 weeks. I'm really hoping for a surgery date in September. BTW anyone looking for a Dr. in Vegas - I LOVE Umbach, both he and his staff have been amazing helping me start my journey.

My bariatric review is also on the 15th at 1pm. I'll see you then! To anyone else reading this thread - Myself and mmmorgan are both proof that an initial denial is NOT the time to give up. Let your doctor fight for you, they will trust us they will :laugh:. I cannot wait for the 16th!

LOL you have NOOO idea. A co-worker recently had the surgery and I was telling her about it grinning like a kid at Christmas. I can't wait, only 7 more days :blushing:

You should be okay, you may not have the 16th surgery date but from what I've read on here TriCare isn't the most difficult. Hang in there:)

Hang in there mmmorgan!!! My first letter said denied because Umbach wasn't a provider (he's the FREAKING medical director of the hospital BCBS recommends... GEEZ!) Holly fought and got me approval. Holly is GREAT at this, have faith in her if it can happen Holly will make sure it does.

We probably crossed paths at the office, I was there today for my pre-op appt. I'll be crossing my fingers for you. It would be great to have a fellow bander who had the surgery on the same day as me from the same doctor. Good Luck!!:thumbup:

APPROVED!!!! ..... kind of :biggrin: I heard from Blossom Bariatrics Friday that I had been APPROVED however the insurance said they weren't a COE (pretty comical considering Anthem's website lists them as having the certification AND Umbach is the director). At any rate it looks like surgery will be 9/16. I can't wait!!! I will update once I hear a FIRM approval right now I'm holding off the happy dance but have a BIG smile. Hey mmmorgan! Have you heard anything back on yours yet? I had a small hiccup with my PCP sending over lab work but it was addressed Friday so I'm hoping everything will be sent in today and I get a quick approval :biggrin:. Have you been to any of Umbach's support group's yet? I need to go at least once before surgery and am excited to meet some of his other patients. :ohmy: I do know one other patient banded by Umbach, she's the one who referred me his way.
