hang in there. I was banded on 6/10/09 and for the first week i was regretting it too. i felt awful, i was crying and wishing i never did it. the 2nd week post op i started to feel 'normal' and it just keeps getting better.

and the word discomfort is greatly understating it. day 7 post op. i dont have gas pain from the surgery, but now i get it everytime i drink my fluids, which is all i am on right now. is there any way to avoid this? is it going to be like this from now on? my gas is laughing at the GasX that i am taking for it.

Thanks all! I think chicalynn hit it on the head. I am drinking way too fast! no straws, but still fast. i will try a different tactic today.

i was banded on the 10th. i have also been nauseated to the point of not even able to drink Water. but im forcing it down. along with broth and some Protein drink. i think part of the problem is not enuf in my stomach now. im sorry to hear u all feel as lousy as i do, but it does bring some comfort that i am not alone.

Thank you all for your responses. My husband has been forcing me to take more fluids. broth, very soft Jello, weak decaf tea, Water etc. and it seems to have helped the nausea a lot. how ever i have been throwing up. not much comes out, just a lil bit of liquid and then the dreaded bile. im so afraid that at this early stage i could be doing damage. of course it is the weekend now, and i have to wait to see my surgeon until next week. anyon else experience the throwing up in the early days of your band?

the gas pain finally went away yesterday, but i have been nauseous all nite last nite and all day today. i havent been able to drink too much. Water is all i can really take. i tried some broth, but was only able to get a few teaspoons in. Last nite i threw up, dry heaves really, since there was nothing in my stomach but a little water. Today i just threw up again, but this time it was bile that came out. I do feel a little bit better afterwards. Am i nauseous and throwing up because i have nothing in my stomach? i spoke to my surgeon this morning and he said to not take any Protein Drinks yet, since im feeling nauseous, and if i still feel this way tomorrow, he will prescribe some anti-nausea meds. What if anything am i doing wrong? I feel like crapola.

im only on day three after banding and the first two days i had terrible gas pain. It did seem like it helped to take a deep breath. also GasX strips seemed to help a bunch. Walk around as much as u can, that will make the gas move too. i just walked around my apartment.

All or most of the food lists i see say 'sugar free' or 'no sugar added' items. Is this for weight loss reasons, or is there another reason. I know the gastric by-pass surgery patients must avoid sugar because it causes dumping. is there a similar result with banding?

thats what i figured. i get banded this weds. im starting to get nervous. and now after reading the forums, im afraid of thick liver! my dr. did not put me on any pre-surgery special diet. i havent gone crazy lately, but its a far cry from a liquid diet. keeping my fingers crossed all goes smoothly...

a lot of doctors offer no interest payment plans too. what insurance company do u have? dont give up!

its been a long wait. 6 months. yeesh. but i have pretty much jumped thru all of the insurance fiery hoops. Just one last trip to my primary to get my medical clearance on June 2nd(tomorrow). i had my pre-op testing last week. Surgery date is June 10th. for some reason i am so afraid of some sort of disaster happening before the date. lol i am washing my hands like a nut, so as not to catch any cold before then. haha. im both excited and nervous! cant wait to see the scale move in the other direction!!!
