My doctor said whenever you feel you are ready. I waited 5 days and just had to be careful of the port.

You should try the clearance racks. I have gotten expensive bras from JCPenny for a fraction of the cost and they have all sizes and styles.

For the Wii...I love Just Dance Two. Its so much fun, you don't realize that you are exercising. My kids also love it. Just got Zumba, looking forward to trying that out. -

FOOD JOURNALS
jenfromtheburgh replied to Renee1003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the food journal on the Realize site. It is very good and my nutritionist can check it at any time. It also tracks my progress, water, vitamins, etc. and has other features that are helpful. -
I also bought bras that snapped in the front for the first couple of weeks. It was easier.

Daily Food log
jenfromtheburgh replied to LanceBijeaux's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recently started logging my food intake and exercise on the Realize site as I was stuck... this has really helped me to see how much I am eating plus my doctor/nutritionist can log in to see my progress and give me feedback. Although I don't have a blog myself, there are many blogs out there to follow. My absolute favorite is Once Upon A Time...In the Land of Cheese and Sunkist, they call Amy "the Oprah" of blogging. She is quite the inspiration. There is a community of bloggers who support one another. The group that I follow just had a get together in Chicago, that looked liked a lot of fun. They have over 50 women attend. That blog is located at B.O.O.B.S.. -

I have twins that are four years old and in booster seats. Fitting in between both seats and kids in the back seat of a car without being uncomfortable. -
I often go on-line to view the menu before I go to see what options are healthy and also band friendly.

Single mom - how long do you need help post-op?
jenfromtheburgh replied to Toto's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a single mom of twins that were 3 1/2 when I had surgery. I stayed in the hospital for one night and then came home to care for them myself. The first couple of days were a little rough but after that I was fine. I just couldn't lift them for awhile but they could sit on my lap. -

how many cc's in your realize band?
jenfromtheburgh replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 5 CCs in my band as well and don't feel like I have restriction. I have becoming frustrated because the scale has not moved in several months and my doctor refused me a fill at my last appt. He said that I was on track and to keep exercising and focusing on protein. He said if I am still at the same weight next month I could get a fill. -
Finally restriction 6 mos post op!

That is wonderful. How big is your band and how much do you have in it? -
This is my favorite blog to follow: Once Upon A Time...In the Land of cheese and Sunkist Amy has been banded a little over a year and lost over 100 pounds. You can read from the beginning. I also follow several other blogs that you can find from hers. She is referred to the "Oprah" of blogging. She is a true inspiration.

Anyone banded around 10-14-09?
jenfromtheburgh replied to southernbelle13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band 10/14/09. Initially, I lost about 27 pounds within the first couple of months but have been stuck up/down with the same couple of pounds the past couple of months. I have a Realize Band not sure how many cc's but have only had one fill in the beginning of 3 cc's. I wanted another fill at my last appoitment but the doctor talked me out of it. I go back next week and am going to insist on a fill because I can eat more than I should at a meal. I have struggled with exercising on a regular basis and know that I have to try harder. I also admit that I have made bad choices at times but overall do ok. I am a little discouraged with my lack of progress but am happy that I have been maintaining over the past few months. I have also gone down 4 sizes. I want to get past this plateau and get the scale moving again!! I still want to lose at least 50 to 60 pounds, so I am about halfway there. I am inspired by all of your success stories and welcome any advice. Although I don't post that often, I am on this site almost everyday. Thanks!! Jennifer -

I actually threw my back out a couple of weeks ago and went back last week for some adjustments. Everything went great and I had no problems. Plus my back is feeling better now. -

Banded in october--updates please
jenfromtheburgh replied to delfinajones's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded October 14th. Have lost 25 since surgery with an overall of 52. I had my first fill last week, 3 cc. in Realize Band. I don't feel like I have any restriction yet. I don't feel hungry but feel that I could eat more than I should at a time. I am scheduled in January for my next fill. My recovery went very well and I had no complications. I have started an exercise program within the past few weeks that I am committed to, walking the treadmill 3x or 4x a week. I am very pleased with my progress. I am struggling with "head hunger" especially when I am due for my period. Trying to drink tea or focus on a positive activity so that I don't eat during those times. I am surprised that I have tried various foods (bread, pasta etc) and have had no issues with anything yet. -
How soon did you return to work?
jenfromtheburgh replied to 1SkinnyChick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took two weeks off. Also have a desk job and probably could have returned in one week but enjoyed staying at home; healing and learning new eating habits. -
How soon did you have sex post-op?
jenfromtheburgh replied to k-statearmywife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was day 5, the first couple of times I just had to be careful around the port area, not to have any pressure. After that, it was fine. No problems at all. -
hair loss and old age lines!
jenfromtheburgh replied to Tranquility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some suggest taking Biotin to help with the hair loss. I started taking it when I had my surgery about 5 weeks ago and have not any issues. I take 5000 mcg, one pill a day. -
Mushy diet- help bandsters!
jenfromtheburgh replied to Bjsfinley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can have strained reduced fat cream soups, low fat cottage cheese, low fat or non-fat cheese, tofu, egg or egg substitute (etc. egg salad), and low fat yogart. After that about 15 days later, you can start with fish, tuna, and poultry. After that stage, you can move onto non-protein foods such as veggies, fruits, and carbs. My doctor does not recommend moving to the last stage until you are able to eat 2 ounces of protein at each meal and feel that you have room for more. -
11 days post-op, a few questions!
jenfromtheburgh replied to Angela0630's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said no gum for one year post surgery due to the fact that you could swallow it and the fact when you chew gum it gets the juices going in your stomach. I too had trouble with protein shakes, just had my surgery 10/14/09. Someone suggested adding some peanut butter especially with the vanilla powder, just blend and it was pretty tasty. They also sell protein shots: Profect, there are 25 g of protein in each shot. You can drink it straight or add to water and crystal light. They are a little expensive about $2.50 a piece but you get a good amount of protein. They sell them at GNC and some Walmart's.
