Portola Suzanne replied to MakeUpbyLetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When we see someone accomplishing something we have not been able to we get scared. She is fearful you will be successful. Support her as uch as you can but don't let her step on your boundries! Kepp up the good work. -

Are you talking about the criteria to have insurance cover you or just have the surgery (self pay)? -
I want this thing out of my body...
Portola Suzanne replied to jenn90808's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry you are going through this! But what I can add to others comments is that time will help. I love what the band has done for me and even when I have not been the best bandster it has worked. Hope you feel better soon and in regards to hubby he may be a brat now but when he sees you getting healthy and slim watch what happens then! -
Chewing gum also creates the swallowing of air which creates GAS. Gas with our small pouch creates great discomfort so along with the possibility of swallowing the gum you get A LOT of gas.

Time for a Revision??
Portola Suzanne replied to TxChelsey's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Wow, so ok your refuse to not drink soda, not watch portions and not follow instructions and you think RNY will make is all magically better. I know many RNY patients who have stretched there pouches by drinking soda and eating to big portions. Sorry for being so blunt but I am not sure the band is the problem. Any WLS has risks and complications and rules to follow for success. -

Can't get motivated to get back on track!!!!
Portola Suzanne replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My whole first year I struggled because not only did my insurance change (made it hard to pay for fills) but my doctor does not fill aggressively. Then got that last fill and bam what a difference it is no longer a struggle it is just happening. So please continue to work with your doctor. I now can make choices for the most part healthy. Anyway my point is I see people struggling and my heart goes out to them because I was there also. It will happen just keep headed toward the goal and good luck! -

Well, almost a year and lost no more weight
Portola Suzanne replied to rlynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the rest of the posters, I lost about 40 lbs year one but never was at restriction til now. Now believe me I'm there and it makes all the difference. Not hungry, losing weight and moving forward. Please work with your doctors you ARE NOT a failure it just takes some of us longer than others! -
Need some encouragement
Portola Suzanne replied to XxMariposaxX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight loss has been slow also mainly because after surgery my insurance changed and I could not go in as often for an ajustment. But now that I am at a good spot (in restriction) the weight is coming off faster. You are doing just fine, you are losing and changing your behavoirs. It took me over a year to get here, but here is way betteer than where I was. You have lost 6 lbs per month and that is a good rate. We are supposed to lose betwenn 1 and 2 lbs per week and you seem right on par. Good luck on your journey. -

Had the band in for three weeks, considering removal.. advice?
Portola Suzanne replied to Veleda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Defiantly not normal, do you know if you have any fill in your band? Sometimes the Doctors put fill in at surgery and not all patients can tolerate it. I am sorry you are going through this. There was a young lady on here that had a lot of troubles like you and it turned out she had a UTI that caused the problems not the band. Hope you are able to resolve your issues. I have been to tight before and it was awful also. -
breath test?
Portola Suzanne replied to THEMAXWELLFAMILY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You blow into a bag that the machine measures then you do in again about 10 minutes later and the machine measures the air and tells yu if you have H Pylori.
