  1. For those of you waiting for surgery, let me put your mind at ease. It really was not bad at all. The before part and thinking about it was worse than the surgery. For me the anathesia(?) was more bothersome than anything. I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath and something heavy was sitting on my chest, that's it. I'm sore from the surgery yes, but it's like I did a bunch of sit ups. When you do have your surgery, get plenty of rest/sleep but, also be sure to get up and walk every hour for 5 minutes, that helps alot! If you have any questions just ask. Remember think "skinny". Tia
  2. I am also very winded I am so out of breath. I have little pain and a lot of gas. I was just wondering if you are a smoker? I am, and told my Dr. before surgery - he told me if I couldn't quit, then to cut back. I too was banded on June 19th and had trouble breathing the first 2 days, but its getting easier each day. Still, I would contact your Dr. Good Luck and keep in touch! Tia
  3. Hang in there Agnes. It's true you get out of it what you put into it. I had my surgery June 19th and by following the liquid plan afterward, I've already lost 7 lbs. On May 7th I was 250, today 232 = 18lbs. so far. It is a lifestyle change, but you've taken the first step. Remember think SKINNY!
  4. I felt pretty informed, so there was nothing I wish someone had told me beforehand. My surgery was yesterday and yes I'm sore, but walking for 5 min. every hour helps alot. Get gas-x for the gas pain in your chest or shoulder and try to burp whenever you can. Good Luck!
  5. Thanks for all the support. I will keep you posted on my progress. Remember...Think Skinny! Tia
  6. Grandma, you will do fine. I too was very nervous, but thats the worst part. I took a book to read while I waited in the pre-op room, that helped keep my mind occupied. Good Luck!
  7. I have heard the term "bandster hell", what is it? Does everyone go thru it?:tongue_smilie:
  8. Ok, I need a buddy!!!!!!!! My name is Jennifer, but I go by Tia. I'm 42, married, a teacher, and I live in Boerne near San Antonio,TX. My surgery date is June 19th and I need help getting focused. I started out at 250 and at the end of my second week pre-op was at 241. I would love any and all support! Thanks, Tia:wub:
  9. Ok, my surgery is next week and I'm having trouble getting mentally prepared for life with the lap band. What did everyone else do? I think I'm having trouble because it is something new that I have never experienced before. I have been researching and preparing for 2 years now, but I need to get really focused like I did when I started so many other diets. Maybe thats it, I failed sooo many times before, that its hard to get over that mind set. I can do this, I will do this!!! I just need advice to help get me focused, PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Love, Tia:wub:

I hear ya on the "No food left behind". My surgery date is June 19th. I'm just waiting on my medical clearance, so I'm nervous eating. I think once I get the call that I'm mediacally clear, I will settle down and do what I have to do. Good luck to you.
  14. That time we call "bandster hell" will make you question your decision. What is "bandster hell"? Now I'm scared!
  15. I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has ever seen Dr. John J. Gonzalez from San Antonio, Tx? He will be my surgeon on June 12. I have met with him and really liked him. I just wanted to talk with anyone who has had him as a surgeon and see what their experience was like with him.
