    Mexico surgery planning

How about skyping as long as you have an internet connection!

    Being informed

I also think that the people who "find" VSG are those that take their health and well being very seriously and are willing to do the research and the necessary lifestyle changes. That is not to say that lapbanders don't care, but many that I have known personally, have the mentality that WLS is a "magic pill", especially since lapband is considered "reversible". Somehow that is confused with not as serious and therefore they are often less invested in making the big lifestyle and behavioral changes. A passive vs. proactive approach if you will. (Disclaimer: I am not making any judgements about anyone elses personal decision.) Edited to add: And Jane made a good point about the subgroup of successful lapbanders who have so many food issues, they are forced to eat a high carb diet.

    Gastric Sleeve

Congrats on your success. That's an amazing weight loss! I too, wish I could have a DVD of the surgery, but the hospital won't allow it (I guess for liability reasons?) Thanks for sharing!

    No Regrets

Hard to imagine not having to wait for diagnostics! And I'll definitely go for the Mexican! Thanks for all of the tips!

    No Regrets

Thank you for the thorough description Elisabeth! I hope to have such an uneventful surgical experience too! I also hope that I'm one of the lucky ones that has no ghrelin post op. I still can't get my head around not having hunger and being so full after a few bites that you actually STOP eating!

    Sleeved and Home Again

Congrats on your new sleeve! I found the forum (saw the post on OH). Sorry about the infiltrated IV and flight woes! My scheduled flight out after surgery is a red eye (would otherwise have had to do two legs and I'd rather fly non-stop as the up and downs do me in!) Hope I don't have any of that circle and refuel stuff! Sounds like you are off to a good relationship with your new sleeve. And thanks for sharing the details of the MD's and nursing staff. I am so ready for my surgery! Get some rest and keep us posted on how the next days go!
