Initially only a handful of people knew but now that i am 30kg down i am starting to tell more folk how i did it. All my "friends" now know, and i am telling customers at my work when they comment on how much I have lost. it is the "associates" that I have been a bit reluctant to tell. Not exactly sure why that is, perhaps because I know my friends will encourage and support me, whereas the associates might just talk about me!!! On the flip side of the coin, I am now starting to think that i really should be out there telling people as who knows who i could encourage by admitting the help i have received. There is still a lot of obese people out there who havent heard of the band, a lot of people still think along the lines of it being stomach stapling. If it means i can help another big person get a new life, extend their life then i think it is my duty to tell them when they comment on my loss. Just have to work my head around telling the associates!!!

Welcome Lisa, great to have you join us. I know what you mean about being such a prouuuuuddddddddd nanny, I also am one of those to Mia who has just turned 2. Mia is the reason for my banding, I realised that I wanted to be around to see her grow up and have a family of her own, and also be able to chase after her at this young precious age. My daughter lives at frenchville, so you never know I might get to meet you one of these days. In the meantime post away and enjoy this new life.

Reminder for Melbournians - get together 2pm Sunday 1st April cafe at the Settlement hotel cnir south gippsland highway and camms rd melway 133 K2. Booking is in the name of Tara and we have the area seperate to the rest of the room up a couple of steps. The "bandsters shuttle" will be at Cranbourne station at 1.45 for anyone wanting a lift, however it looks like it is very close to the station anyway. Anyone banded, thinking of banding, family, friends all welcome.

Susannah - can you come even just for a short while?

What better way to spend April Fool's Day than meeting fellow bandits!! A get together has been organized for Sunday 1st April 2pm at the Settlement Hotel cnr South Gippsland Highway and Camms Rd Cranbourne. The 2pm timeslot makes it easier for those on liquids/mushies/or short of $$ as there is no obligation to have a meal. The location is in the cafe at the front of the hotel, in the area up a step or 2 (no smoking area). Snack food can be purchased all day and good variety of drinks for those wanting to have a late lunch. Hope to get to meet lots of fellow bandits, the location chosen will hopefully mean those down the peninsula and gippsland areas could join in as well as the eastern suburbs and of course anyone else happy to travel. see you there!!!

Meredith - find out which suburb you are staying in and it might be easier to catch up for a coffee at a local cafe rather than the city.

Hey I finally have a ticker. Thank you so much blytheswideshut for your brilliant explanation how to get a ticket. I am the queen of computer dummies and your explanation worked fine first time!!! Just wanting to say hi to you all, it has been a while since I posted but I do grab a few minutes most days to have a read of your postings. To all those thinking of being banded - dont think any longer do something about it. it is the best decision i have made for me in my life and i am sure all the other post bandits would say the same. I am heading off now for my swimming lesson!! something I always wanted to learn to swim but would never at my weight but a whole new world has oppened up for me.

I didnt have to do optifast, and neither does my daughter in law who is on the waiting list with Mr. Nottle. My sister who is being done privately in 6 weeks doesnt have to do it either (another surgeon) however she has done the optifast herself trying to lose weight and says it is quite bearable if you have it with warm water rather than cold. thought it might help someone having trouble taking it.

My d i l had to pay $190 for Dr. Nottle's physician who was in Queens rd melb. Think she said she will get something like $130 back. The dietician was $80 with nothing back. Dr. Nottle bulk billed the initial consult as she is on a Heath care card.

Susannah - I didnt get anything back from Medicare from my $3060 out of pocket expense. Who is banding you? I took the receipt to Medicare just to check in case I could get a pleasant surprise but no. Still when I consider how much $$ i have saved in food - particularly when eating out which i do regularly. Now I have a bowl or soup or salad where in the past I would have a full meal and desert. I also have saved heaps in my weekly grocery bill I am well on the way to recovering some of my out of pocket expense, that is without considering the health benefits and being able to buy nicer off the rack clothes. Remember you can claim the $3500 in your tax so you will get back 20% of what you pay in the tax year for medical expenses over about $1500 or $1600 I dont know exactly the amount.

Just to say hi...and why am I burping!!!
tarajane replied to AlanT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had pain starting on day 5. I tried so much but ended up using a combination of hot shower, hot packs, quick eze and peppermint tea. For about 4 weeks post op my stomach was extremely noisy the rumblings were going on big time. Now 5 months post op I only burp when I have had trouble with a particular food and find walking around helps that but it is a rare thing these days. -
Hi there - how's your summer going?
tarajane replied to Goannabanda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Anna, were your ears burning? Tolmc and I were only chatting about you a matter of minutes ago. I dont have your email address and she said she's sending you an email over the next day or so. Glad you had a great, relaxing time at Phillip Isl. I was VERY bad over Christmas too, just couldn't resist the Lindt chocolates. I was pretty nervous about going for my appt last Friday but I still managed to lose 1.7kg in 3 weeks over chrissy so am stoked. Hope all is going great for you and the family. Talk soon. -
Happy birithday for yesterday Mark. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
