Thanks for your replies Carmel and Cam. I have had my band over a year, have had no probs at all, have a very well worded letter from my surgeon but still no lucky. i have tried over a dozen including those underwritten by CGU and QBE and others. Cam would you be prepared to tell me who your cover is through? I have asked my surgeon and his staff and also been in contact with the manufacturer of the band to see if they had any ideas of a company prepared to insure bandits.

thanks for your replies old spark, bet you are glad you didnt think about the travel insurance. I have tried QBE who will accept other conditions but nothing related to the band. Re Japan, I went for a month in 1995 when daughter was there for a 12 month rotary exchange, and again for 10 days over new year 2004. I managed to get some super cheap flights with jetstar just under 700 return from sydney and with the exchange rate so good couldnt resist the temptation to go back and see some new places and revisit some old. This time am taking 2 sisters along with me - wish me luck!!! invite for christmas in july is still open.

hi all, after many many many stressful weeks of computer woes i am finally up and running ( computer wize not physically) hope it stays this way. glajd to see you are all still around. old spark i am particularly wanting info from you, i am off to japan in september and so far havent been able to find a company prepared to cover me travel insurance wise for the band. they will all happily cover me for for the rest of me but anything related to the band is out. did you take insurance that included the band when you went to vegas? i know at the valley they recommended a company zurich but when i called them they dont sell travel insurance only as a by product of having a gold credit card, and even with that there are the exclusions. please help old spark or someone else who has obtained insurance for the band. I know i can travel and not mention it but i prefer to be upfront. by the way I am going to a christmas in july dinner next sat night not really much point as i wont be eating anything of subnstance. you are welcome to come along too if you crave christmas in july!!! only thing old spark - no grog it is a church social group.

What time are you going tomorrow Susannah? I am going to Bendigo for the weekend and planned on popping in for a weigh on the way as I havent been since mid april?

-
Old Spark, i received an email telling me you have posted here but cant find it to reply to. the email told me you went to the get together this arvo. we were there but for some reason we were put in the bistro rather than the cafe, menu was better though. sorry we missed you,

I tried edit to correct spelling but little faces came up instead of my words. was meaning to say gas pain from when they fill you up. should check before i post i guess but life is busy.
-

yes that is exactly what i experienced. the pain is gas pain from when they fill you yp with gap to get into your belly. try walking, sipping warm drinks, pain killers, heat packs, pepperimint tea, try anything and everything and eventually something will help. it was the most painful part of my whole banding process. yes the tummy rumbles will eventually go away but the first couple of weeks i swear my tummy rumbles could be heard in the next room. it will all settle, although 9 months post banding now i still occasionally get the rumbles.

Melbourne get together -
There is a get together organized for this coming Saturday 16th June from 1.00pm at cranbourne settlement hotel cnr camms road and south gippsland highway. All banded, to be banded, thinking of banding and family/friends are invited. The last one early april had a good turn up about 16 by memory and it would be terrific to get another good turn out. Meals/snacks/drinks are available all day with no pressure to buy from the staff. The location is the cafe at the front of the hotel. Post here if you are able to come for table booking if possible.

thanks for your reply kaylene. that is sad, when d i l last phoned the office she was told she would definately be done this year, looks like they might have been giving her false hope.
-
Hi Kaylene, I am interested in your post about dr nottle not doing day surgery any more. Which hospital were you booked at for the day surgery? I know he is changing from the western to the alfred but thought he only did days at williamstown. my d i l is on the waiting list for williamstown so will be anxiously waiting to read your reply.

tarajane replied to ♥LadyBug♥'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cenovis multi vitamins for me - now Goanna where are you? haven't seen any postings from you in ages!! maybe you have truly faded away to nothing. please post so we know you are still with us. -
Welcome Jewelis56 - Congrats on making this decision - it's a big one but one I wish i had made many years ago. 8 months post banding I am now buying off the rack and yes it is a wonderful experience, but still hard to get the head around, I keep thinking I am bigger than i am. All the best for your op and make sure you stay around.
-
Bronnie - of course I still olve you, just thought you didn't love me cos you werent joining us here.
-
Hi Girls, wouldnt it be nice to have some fellow posting?? You are all doing so well, it is lovely to hear what is going on in everyones world too. Goanna - it's nice to be missed, that speaker sounded fantastic, would have loved to have been there along with vicki who was on the girls getaway with me, but friends mum died couple of weeks ago so felt I needed to be with her. You will have to fill me in on it all when we next meet. Shame about the clothes still being around, I am sure someone would fit them perfectly. I am between a 14 - 16 now so feeling great. There is talk of a get together down Frankston/ Mornington way mid May so if it happens maybe you can bring them along there. How is the new job application going? Susannah - how envious of you I am. having the chance to go over to live in Israel. Dont worry you wont be lonely, i am sure you will have a lot of visitors coming to visit you over there. Claire kitten - welcome, you will be on your road to the new you before you know it. Do you live down williamstown way? My daughter in law is on Mr Nottle's waiting list to be bandend at willy. Jacqui - your assigment sounds amazing, well done. I know a few adults who went to uni post children and they all absolutely love their teaching careers. Rava, Blyswideshut and She smiles and Lisa, i love reading your posts congrats with your success and good wishes for the rest of your journey.
-
Hi Anna, good to hear from you, son said thanks for those clothes, hope the ladies ones found a good home. I wont be there tomorrow night as away on a girls getaway due to wed being a holiday from work.

Hi Susannah, Please dont let that little outburst bother you in the slightest. I am replying to your post re get together here cos I hate all the spam appearing on the other thread. Chadstone is great for me, the most important thing I found was to advertise on as many boards as you can and as you know we had a terrific turn out. Just pick a date, post away and hopefully there will be another great turn out. Sounds like you are doing extremely well, congratulations, I finally got under the 80k when i went for my check last friday and am now due to go back for 2 months so that will be a real test for me as previously I had been going 4 - 5 weekly to make sure I stayed on track. Looking forward to getting together, I suggest you avoid sat 19th May as there may be something happening down mornington way but I am not organizing it so you will need to keep your eyes wide open!!!!!!

Guess we all have bad days and some of us even have PMT!!

As Susannah said I posted about the cranbourne get together on all sites that I know about and people came from near and far, one from werribee and another from gippsland. If you had come you would have been made most welcome and there were only a couple who had met before. This is most definately not a secret society.

Post away but please for eveyone's sake try to make it a positive post. As the saying goes 'if you cant say anything positive - best not to say it at all'.

We are all great friends yes, but we are glad to welcome you interstaters to our circle of friends or lapband family.
-
Sure Susannah - how you doing?
-
Wow - August that would be great. I went private and still had to wait about 4 months from first appt to op, although I could have been done a month earlier, except i had holidays planned. What state are you in?
-
Hi Ses, welcome, what a disappointment that you thought you were on the waiting list and discovered that you werent. hopefully things will start moving now, where are you? how long do you expect to wait for the surgery?
-
H Susannah, hope you are feeling a bit better for giving yourself a nice little break. it is soooooooooooo very important to look after yourself something it takes us women a long time to learn sometimes. it was terrific meeting you at cranbourne and glad all seems to be going well band wise. I go this friday for another check and weigh. Hope the scales are a bit kinder to me this week than they were last month though with easter I am not too sure they willl be. I am not too keen on the on line dating idea either - though i am married i guess i shouldnt be keen on it !!!! how about some social groups? are you into reading? sports? art? dancing? community house courses? bush walking now you are doing more exercise? craft groups? you never know who has a brother somewhere hiding away who isnt into the pub scene either.
-
Great to have you join us Paul. There are a lot of banded men about but they seem a bit shy to post so maybe you might encourage them to "out themselves". enjoy the mushies - soggy weekbox has never tasted so good when you have been on liquids for a week or so, enjoy!!!
-
Susannah - I gurarantee you pre banding I would have no problem at all eating that giant easter egg. i would eat chocolate til I felt sick and keep eating it. I am most definately a chocoholic, almost got thru easter but failed last night, 170gm red tulip small eggs but could have been much worse I tell myself. Happy easter to you all and congrats on your great loss, was wonderful meeting you last week, have to do it again soon. When;s your next avenue appt? Sis and I have one friday 20th
