Bizarre. I was told the pre-op diet exists so the liver shrinks and the surgeons are able to get to the stomach easily. My doctors prescribed a 2 week liquid pre-op diet which is mandatory and I plan to follow it to the "t." They said that if the liver is fatty, they will NOT perform the surgery - so that means liquids (basically Protein shakes and 2 c. of vegetables/day) for 2 weeks. After hearing what my surgeon prescribes, I'm baffled to hear that some others require NO pre-op diet?! Regardless, I wish us all the best and an easy recovery!!!

Me too! My pre-op diet starts 10/9 and I'm very excited! I've started having dreams about it as my nerves are a bit frazzled now. Are any of us October bandsters in the NYC area? Good luck to all of us!

I get all my supplements/shakes/drinks at www.nutricraze.com They're quick, the prices are competitive and the shipping is reasonable!

Hi Princess, Is this Nutrient Protein available at GNC as well? It looks like my surgery will be sometime in October and I'm petrified of losing my hair - I o'nt have a lot as it is! Thanks!

Hi there, I'm sorry but I'm just not a fan of home parties... I don't mind going to one every once in a while but my two cousins and my aunt have one every two months! How many PartyLite, Longaberger, Tastefully Simple (the best one) Pearl/oyster, Charmelle, parties can a girl handle! I always end up buying something out of guilt, not because I actually like the products. I mean really, don't we all have about 250 candles? I have to exempt Tastefully Simple from my rant because they have GREAT spicing mixtures with no sodium that are fab. Anyway, my $0.02 for what it's worth!

I agree with you about the Crest White Strips (and so does my dentist!) I spoke with him about two years ago about getting the in-office whitning procedure. He told me to go out and buy the Crest White Strips instead. He said that while he would love the fee, he couldn't recommend it for me as the difference I would notice between the strips and the in-office procedure would be minimal at best. Have I mentioned how much I love my dentist? And my pearly whites...

Just be sure to stay away from the sun-dried tomato flavor! :tired I took one bite and threw the whole package out.

Hi there, My doctor has suggested one of two things. A. Get banded and wait 2 years to become pregnant. B. Get pregnant and have the band after delivery. I'm 31 and would like to have children by the time I'm 35. So option A is the right option for me. Not to mention, I want to be eating the right foods during my pregnancy and have the energy of a healthy and fit mother to keep up with them when they're born. I'm also pretty sure that I would put on more weight if I were pregnant before I got banded than had I waited two years afterwards. It's not an easy decision but I'm sure you'll do what's best for you! Good luck!

Whole Foods sells a bottle for $11. By the way, I tried several different salts and the best was the Fleur du Sel. Expensive but it makes the SWF go down easier. Also, I heated up the Water in the SWF and it was like drinking salty Soup... much easier for me than ice cold. Good luck guys!:clap2:

I did the Master Cleanse for the first time last October. Over the course of the 10 days, I had dropped 14 pounds. FYI - I'm not banded yet. I started on a Saturday and would recommend the same. Day 1 was a breeze. Day 2 was more difficult and probably the worst day for me of the 10. Yes, the SWF goes *right* through you. I went to the gym a few times and felt almost euphoric at times. While I had excellent energy, it didn't last as long as usual but I felt good. I felt powerful. I felt strong. I felt motivated. After the cleanse is over they recommend you drink freshly squeezed OJ or grapefruit juice. I"m not sure I've ever tasted anything so delicious in my life! Good luck with it! I happened to have my physical scheduled during that time and I even told my doctor about it. He said he doesn't recommend them for weight loss but if it's only 10 days, then he said I was OK.
