  1. Not sure if anyone from this area visits this site, but here goes! I was banded by Dr. Burnette on 5/26/09. Still nervous, but so far so good. Hopefully I will find out soon about the support group they are trying to get started out of this practice. Good luck to any and all who are considering or have gone through the procedure.
  2. I really like everyone at the Phoebe clinic and Dr. Burnette's office. I am going tonight for a support group meeting. Why would your insurance deny you? Keep on trying and don't give up! You should come to one of the group meetings.
  3. Good for you (changing doctor and hospital). Have they scheduled your consultation date yet? There is also a support group meeting next Thursday at 7:00 at Phoebe Northwest. So far, yes, I am great with the band. The first two weeks were the hardest to me, but only due to the gas they used to inflate during surgery. My incisions have healed great, my appetite is reduced without even having a fill yet. I'm pumped and excited about my life post-op. It's been way too long feeling trapped in my "fat" suit. Let me know how everything is going.
  4. Hi! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! It's funny that you are from Valdosta - I am from Sylvester! Also ironic that you are dealing with McGowan's office. I worked for a physician in Albany and had a patient who needed to see the same dietitian. The appt wait was going to be forever because she(?) was so backed up. I'm not sure how your insurance works, but have you thought about trying a dietitian or doctor in Tifton? I have used Phoebe Putney (Albany) for a nutritionist due to diabetes, she was wonderful. I did not have to go through this, probably because of difference in insurance companies. But just look at it as a small step on the way to a new life. Please let me know if I can help you.
  5. So I went today for my 2 week post-op appt. and have lost 11 lbs.! I know it's not as much as some, but I am so ready for this journey - makes me want to do a jig! Everything is going good so far. I'm going to start on treadmill tomorrow. All I can think about right now is - 89 lbs to go instead of 100!
  6. Hello! Just banded on May 26th this week. Still pretty sore, mostly I think from the gas they inflate you with. My tummy has been talking to me all night!! I think my biggest worry is just that I will fail, which makes me more determined not to. I was so excited this morning when I actually had a normal range fasting blood sugar level!! Woo Hoo! So anyway, just wanted to try this forum, I think support is going to be very much a key to my success and this seems like a great place to start! krbr08

    Scared Newbie!!

mom2twinboys: Thank you so much for your reply! Everyone seems really great on this site. I have never posted anywhere, so this is all new to me. But I really think being involved and putting myself out there and asking for support is going to be a big key to success. So can you tell me what a days menu looks like for you? Thanks again and I'm sure it will all be melting off for you now that you are getting closer to your sweet spot.

    Scared Newbie!!

Pennreporter: AAAGHH! Clear liquids - one week. Full liquids - one week. Then I move to mushy for two weeks. My biggest problem is that the instructions I was given were to take 5 minutes to eat/drink 1 ounce of food/liquid. That's just really hard. If I were actually chewing the food it might a little easier, but everything at this point is a liquid!

    Scared Newbie!!

Good Luck and Speedy Recovery on Monday! I wish my doc had been able to suck out the excess gas for me, but if this is the biggest issue I have, it'll be worth it. It's really great you and your daughter are able to go through this together. Hope everything goes well for both of you!
