Lapband's dirty little secret
Lovinglapbandliving replied to 3636millie2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, Girl you are all wound up. I do not want to be confrontational. I left the story off where I called my Dr. because I didnt want to go into it at length. But you obviously care more than the average bear about my story so since I have nothing to hide here it is. Yes after we talked I asked dr.Kelly what is a coordinator and what exactly do they do. Before that time I had never heard of the term or the job discription. I own Sonshine Consulting Group INC. (please fel free to look it up) I help Buisnesses revamp thier business image and become visual to thier target customer base, and yes we are trading services. But my intentions from my involvment with lapbandtalk.com is NOT to advertise for free. I have many other avenues I am working with Dr. Kelly on to expand his business and increase patient support. My first login was created with an email I setup just for this site so I could check it out. I dont remember what it is, it is very long and before starting this user I was trying to access it to just go from there and was unable to. So I started with this one which is the only one I use on this site from here point on. I am not manipulative. And I lye to NO ONE. This is why I am taking the time to write back to you regaurding this issue. I know you are a coordinator and I wish you only the best of luck. I hope we can keep any negitivities between our business between us so not to show the public anything other than perfessionalism and honest care. On a personal note I am very thankfull for this online forum I believe it is a great way to network as individuals who share in the unique bond of Bandhood. We can both learn end educate eachother offering support in ways many of our "Normal Families" cant understand unless they have ever been in the Battle Against Obesity. This is the fact in my family. All of ly inlaws, even my husband have NO understanting of what I have been threw there for they offer NO support. It is more of the "out of sight out of mind " mind set with them. I do have my mom who lives in New York (long ways from Oregon) and she is an angel threw these transitionary times. Well, I hope this has helpped everyone stand on the same side, we are not at battle with eachother! The enemy in all around us, and even within us! Together we can rise to a greater tomarrow! THIS MUST CONTINUE TO BE OUR GOAL! If we get distracted many will fail! This is why I am founding a NON-Profit to benefit OBESE ADOLESENTS. We are one of many sponsors GIVING away prizes to those who have achieved GREAT WLS Successes! In prevailing in this battle those who have overcome have EARNED THE RIGHT to be AWARDED! So as a chance to INSPIRE those who are looking for answers email me your testimonials and pictures! We will be holding AWARD EVENTS in every state in the USA. And giving away wonderful SPA packages, hair & Make up Makeovers, Gym Memberships ect. Hard work should be AWARDED, guided, and shared! THat is why I am here! To give support! And even ask questions! I am human just like all of you. -
Lapband's dirty little secret
Lovinglapbandliving replied to 3636millie2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well, I forgot the password for the first one. The second one someone got mad and reported me. said I was spaming. Which I didnt mean to do. SO I have learned some lessons and am here just to share, network, get some support since I have ALMOST NONE here at home. I dont want any trouble so I try not to offend. I just look and learn from people very valuable experiences. and share some of mine if they can help anyone. After you told me I was a coordinator I had to ask my DR. what a Coordinator does. And now it makes since why you were mad. But like I said I dont want trouble. I hope we are of like mind. -
Thinking about getting banded
Lovinglapbandliving replied to egalaviz23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone, I was in the same boots just a few months ago. No insurance ect... You do have options. Be sure to have a free consultation with atleast 3 surgeons directly because it is important that you feel totally comfortable with the team you choose to work with as it is a journey that you will be taking together. I chose Dr. Ramos Kelly because of his great track record and I knew I wanted to go into mexico because I am self pay. Here is what it coste me to get started on my lapband journey...... Airfare- $307 Surgery-$5500 Spending Money-$50 and future expenses.... Fill with fluro in TJ- $200 (they say it takes 3-6 to find a persons "SWEET SPOT" but this changes alot between the people) Air fare- $300 TO TJ or in the USA fill- $165 ($349 first consult) no fluro fluro- $350 Fluro is like a live exray so the Dr. can se exactly what he is doing and check out the lapband system to make sure everything is working as expected. I hope this helps, there are alot of options. Just be sure you do what you need not what others assume. -
Lapband's dirty little secret
Lovinglapbandliving replied to 3636millie2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, by my experince this is not true. I had my lapband done in Mexico. My sugreon excepts all lapband patients for follow ups and fills. He ALWAYS uses FLURO which is like a live exray so he can check the whole lapband system to make sure is on track. It costs $200 for the fill and fluro. The plane ticket varies but it is worth it because here in oregon they want 165 to fill plus 350 for the fluro. Also, there is Fill Centers USA and they have centers in most of the different states. also, I did some looking at the obesity help site and found a urgeon who does fills only 1.5 hour away. So they are out there and if you need any help finding one please email me. I have been getting pretty familiar with the online help websites. LOL  I hope this helps -
help me narrow down mexico surgeon choice
Lovinglapbandliving replied to djpfeils's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
WOW, I have never hear so many bad things about mexico! I HAVE BEEN there and Had a GREAT experience. There are many DR.s and picking the right one for you is very important. I pick a surgeon who has experiance, and medical accreditations! For the record Dr. Kelly provides Mexico with great value as a person and Surgeon. I am thankfull for him. And I am glad I DIDNT see this ugly post before I took the trip, it invokes ALOT of UNDUE fear to the unexpecting. -

I found a Surgeon who will Adjust my lapband eventhou my surgery was done in Mexico. I have been wondering about going back to Tj for fills because my Surgeon Dr. Kelly is a wonderful DR. It is just hard to find someone to watch my 3 kids to go. And the person I found is only 1.5 hours away and I can take them with me. (I will just make a field trip out of the day) THe fill dr here charges 150 for the fill and 350 if he needs to use the flouro. $500 ouch! But what are my options?! I hope he wont have to use fluro or I am out of luck and out of money! Fill centers USA is good but they are 200 miles away! It is 350 for the first round with fill centers, I believe it includes fluro????? I dont know.... I just wish I could go to my surgeon which I cant do with 3 kids! Should I keep my appt on the 8th? I have the 150 but not the 350 more if fluro is needed. I am just hoping it wont be needed! or cancel the appt on the 8th and find a bb sitter who will watch my kids for days so I can go back to TJ. My surgeon only charges $200 and he ALWAYS does fluro. I need to see how much the ticket would be......... or cancel the 8th and go to Fill centers USA drive 200 miles one way with kids pay 350 and hope it covers the fluro and fill. Options options.... For all of the MOMS out there.... What would you do?

Hello...trying to decide on WLS - need opinions!
Lovinglapbandliving replied to mbumblebee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is sooo true! this is exactly how I am too! I was banded on may 19th 2009 and this has been the biggest change for me so far, EMOTIONAL! Before the band I spent all of my adult life trying to be so strict on my self to loose weight it was self distructive! CARBS BAD MUST NOT EAT CARBS..... then what do I crave?... CARBS..... then I bing and soon the GUILT and depression SETS IN! and emotionally I was just exausted!!!! It was a total mind trip. I would try one METHOD after another "How to eat healthy" and sooner than later, BING, GUILT, Depression, more binging.... WHat a cycle! I was cooking one taste less meal for me then one good meal for the family. what do you think I ate after the tasteless meal???? yep, the good one! Of course this was after dinner and while no one was looking so I would feel less like a glutton... I know I am not the only one who was on this distructive path. CRAZY!!!! The band has freed me from this distructive cycle by changing my thinking. NOTHING is OFF LIMMITS. I can eat so little even of a not healthy craving food I cant do all that damage! so having no forbidden foods has helpped me have less cravings for those XXX foods! So I just eat what sounds good with no more guilt! I can finally eat with the family. THEY ARE SO RELIEVED I AM NOT COOKING THOSE CRAZY GROSS HEALTHY MEALS! I know this is a stage and my weight loss may not be the best but I am enjoying the fact that I have rediscovered taste! and I have lost 12lbs in the last 2 weeks! So I am very thankful for the lapband it is a GOd sent device that has freed me from guilt, and shame. It is ok to eat! I just cant eat as much as I use too! I LOve it! I hope my experiance has helped. -
Please help! Unexplained pain??
Lovinglapbandliving replied to Navymanswife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on 5/19th and was having abdomen pains in the begaining. I was afraid to eat the first week and only drank liquids but the pains were intense my dr said that was true hunger pains. so I started eating mushies like jello ect and that solved the problem. I have noticed since then when I eat too fast or dont chew the air hurts and usually a pb solves that pain. THe pain was above the band. I don know if you are private pay or if you can get a ultra sound or fluro. Have you had a fill yet? If there is a leak that is bad! My Surgeon put me on antibiotics from the start and so I was never at infection risk. I am thankful for that! I do know gas feelings have intensified it almost feels like pragnancy like a baby giving me a great BIG kick! I know I am not pregnant, must be gas. LOL  -
Ready for a life change! Dallas,TX
Lovinglapbandliving replied to Pink101's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded 5/19/09 and am currently almost to my 3wk mark. day 2 was the worst! my mom was at my house to watch the kids so I slept most all day! day 3 i slept about 1/2 and I just get better from there. by my one week I was back on track and doing all of the house hold chores, gardening, taking care of the kids, homeschooling, and running my cleaning business. I waited to be 1.5 weeks out before I started shoveling and weeding in the garden. my surgeon said if I started lifting too soon I could cause the port to flip/twist or move. so I was careful with this. If you still have questions Dr. kelly is holding a free seminar in Fortworth TX on June 23rd. He will be doing alot of Q&A. I am totally excited because he offers sooooo much support. I can get you more info if you would like it. -
Did your life change - too much - after lapband placement?
Lovinglapbandliving replied to hunybhr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
YOU ARE COMPLETLY RIGHT! Often times weight is more than just calories. I remember wishing to be fat in the begining of my marrage because I didnt trust myself to be faithful. So I wanted to be undesirable. Well, At 275#'s I some how recalled that moment so many years ago and now in the midst of a strong marrage which is now 10 years old I am no longer unsecure with my faithfullness. and the weight is no longer needed. With the lapband I am reclaiming control over the habits I have created for protection and stepping into a brighter future. Like you I have no help from inurance. I found an wonderful DR. in TJ and have not looked back. If you would like me to introduce you let me know. Being self pay is hard but it doesnt have to break the bank! email me -

After my one week report my insision's scab rubbed off in the shower and the bump came streaming out! YUCK, BUT the skin on all but one insision has completly healed over and the only bump it the line of scar tissue under each line. and of course I can feel the port under the one. My week 2 isnt quite here yet that is tuesday so I dont know how much i will have lost by then. I did get a sneak peek and so far I have lost 4lbs this week which is a total of 12 lbs since my lapband's b-day. I think the key to not getting discouraged is weighting in weekly not daily. (That is the hard part) I will check in again after the 2 week mark. I am also keeping a video log on you tube and myspace. FYI - (yes, I am showing the healing of the insisions) LOL
