I understand where you are coming from. My spouse was wayyyy against it when I was going for gastric bypass about 2 and a half years ago so it kind of made me turn against doing it and I didn't get it. Now that I heard and learned more about the Lap band I am kind of doing things on my own without her knowing what I am doing. I only have my best friend supporting me. My wife does kind of know now that I am possibly getting it but all I tell her is I am seeing a nutritionist and dietician. I feel like she should support me with this decision I am making but she says she is supporting me by helping me exercise more and she thinks that I can do it on my own without the surgery because I have lost 33lbs on my own without surgery and she is wayyy against it. I don't know what to tell her when the time comes. I still have about another 3 months to go with testing and seeing the doctors. Mook

Hello All, I am in the process of getting more information and also seeing a doctor to become banded very soon. I am in the Philadelphia area and currently going to Temple University Hospital for my banding. I was at Hahnemann Hospital for quite sometime but once family and friends got in my head about gastric bypass I kind of just stop going to meetings and never followed up with getting it done. Now I am really considering the Realize Band and plan to get it done even if I have to do it on my own without family and friends. I chose not to tell them because I don't want to hear all the negative comments about the banding or surgery period. Is it anyone in the Philadelphia area gay, straight or lesbian that can point me in the right direction for support groups? Thanks, PartyWithMook

Hello, I just started going to Temple Hospital about a month ago to start my process with Banding. I was previously with Hahnemann Hospital but with family telling me Gastric Bypass was something I didn't need I stop going to the meetings and never followed up with getting surgery. Now I am doing this on my own and looking for many different support groups in Philadelphia. My doctor is Meilahn and I saw him a few weeks ago and see him again next week for month 3 so I am getting there slowly but surely. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated. Hello all, My name is Charise and I live in Philadelphia. I am new to this site as well as the lapband. Around 2 years ago I thought of having gastric bypass but thought that that type of surgery was not for me. Now I am in the process of learning more about the lap band.
