Hi all-I don't post here much but I do follow this thread pretty much daily. It's great how well you all are doing! Since my surgery on Oct 13 I have lost about 40lbs (which is good). But heres the wierd thing- I have never in my life felt worse about myself than I do right now. If it weren't for my kids I wouldn't get out of bed. I don't want to leave the house(I do, only because I have to). I don't understand why this is happening. Things are pretty good. I should feel great!I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything like this this. Thanks-Lisa

Why does my nose run when I am full?

Jack- Do you think this can cause migraine headaches?? I used to suffer from terrible migraines, but I haven't had too much trouble in the last 10 years. That is untill I got my band(maybe just coincidence?!). Now I'm having at least 3 migraines a week. Anyone else having this problem? Lisa -
25 days post-op & I can eat anything - help!
willow5880 replied to sweetsue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was banded very recently(Oct. 13) and I am also feeling that I could probably eat just about anything. But I am trying very hard to resist. I do better some days than others. What I don't understand is what I feel to be the lack of compassion from some of the posters here. We all know that just because you CAN eat anything, you SHOULDN'T! We all know that it takes some willpower! But that doesn't mean that it's not difficult! I mean that is WHY we chose the band. If all you need is willpower, why did you go through the pain and expense of getting the band? Anyway, all I am saying is that this is supposed to be a place where those having problems or just those who are feeling discouraged to come and vent. It would be nice to see more people saying things like "hang in there!" or "I know how you are feeling & it'll get better." rather than shaming someone because they don't have enough willpower. -
TOOO COOOL!!! This is my very favorite show! I can't wait to see this episode. Do you know what it is about?! You are so lucky and I am sooo jealous! (BTW-Your house is gorgeous!)

I completely agree barb; BUT I don't think I would look down on other people who are stuggling with weight in thier own ways. Like when Oprah looked at the last guest with surprise and said "YOU were a NURSE at 300 lbs?!" I felt that was not only insensitive, but rude. She wouldn't appreciate someone suggesting that you should be a certiain weight to be on TV. Just because she is at goal weight this month doesn't mean she will always be. I am a Oprah fan and I will always be one, and I'm glad she puts the information out there. But lately I feel that she comes across a little condecsending.

Does anyone else have their ports placed on the right side? I was banded on Fri. and I just noticed this today. I was wondering why my Dr. decided to switch sides?! It's not a big deal or anything; it just wasn't what I expected. If anyone has this-do you know why?

As of 10:00am this morning by Dr. Wagner in St. Louis, MO!! I have had very little discomfort so far and I was able to leave the surgery center 2 hours after my procedure. I also found out that I lost a total of 17 POUNDS during my 7 day clear liquid diet!!! WOOO HOOO!! Anyway I am thrilled that the waiting is over, and that I have moved on to the next step. Anyone with some sound advice will be greatly apprecciated(as in someting that you went through that maybe nobody told you, or something that you didn't expect.). Thanks ~ Lisa

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I know the date is just another day, but it was a little surprising at first! I can't wait until I'm one of the experienced ones encouraging pre-bandsters when they have the jitters. I have only told my 19 year old daughter(and hubby, of course) about my decision. So it will be interesting to see if I can pull it off without having to tell everyone else. It's not like I'm ashamed(well, maybe a little) but I really don't think it's anyone's business but mine. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Yep! Thats my surgery date! Wow! I'm really scared & excited! I just started my clear liquids today & all I keep thinking is; BOY this is going to be a long week!!!:phanvan

Who is your Dr.? I too want to have my surgery by the end of the year. I'm going to see Dr. Van Wagner on 10/3(hopefully to schedule). I am self pay so I won't have to fight with ins. co. That's a pro and a con all rolled into one! :faint:

I would also try laying off the SF Hazelnut flavoring. They usually contain Maltitol. Need I say more?!

Hi, I'm fairly new here and I am strongly considering the band. I have been lurking around this board for a while and I have learned a lot. But I do have one question. Is there anyone here that is three years or more out that has had no complications (slippage, erosion, port problems, etc.). I know you hear more about people WITH problems than the ones without, but I would really like to hear from the ones who haven't had any problems. Thanks~Lisa
