Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Hi everyone I haven't visited the thread for nearly a year but just popped in to say to all bandsters on the path and all would be bandsters............ it's WORTH IT I was fitted with my band in June '09 in Belgium. I was fifteen and a half stone then, frumpy, grumpy and seriously unhappy and unfit. Within a year I had lost six and a half stone and have maintained my weight at nine stones. I haven't had a fill now for 6 months and still have restriction enough to maintain my weight but certainly don't rule out having another in the future. I can't eat masses but enough to be able to dine out without embarrassment and can drink like a fish The drastic change to get used to, for me, is clothes shopping. My head still hasn't grasped that I'm looking for small clothes instead of XL and I'm an 8/10 instead of 22/24. That's a change that I can live with though and I'll adapt to it eventually. Having the band fitted was the best decision I ever made in my life and it has changed my life in so many ways. I hope for all of you on the journey or comtemplating having surgery, have the outcome that I have had and I wish you all the kindest regards and good luck Vikki xxx

I don't want to be a sceptic but I'm not at all convinced that this would be the case because I know that on my first visit to Wendy I had to sign various bits of paper work and one of them was a disclaimer that in the event etc etc WLS wouldn't be held responsible. Hope Wendy is a women of her word.

I was actually told by so called friends that if I lost weight i wouldn't be as funny. in my head this translates to they'll have no one to laugh at behind my back anymore!!!! and this from so called mates! I feel like you- it ends now

Most fill providers insist that you wait 6 weeks. That's pretty frustrating but it has a purpose. They like you to be totally healed before they fill you, cheers, Vix

Hey Rose. How are you? I have no idea who does fills in Denmark or will you have to travel? I have just had my 2nd fill and went with WLS. The lass who does them doesn't have an x-ray but she is highly experienced and has found the port without any hassle. I don't think an x- ray is really neccessary when the "filler" knows what she's doing and I reckon Wendy certainly does. I am really pleased that I chose to go with WLS and not you know who :w00t: Good luck with it. Take Care :w00t:

That's a fantastic post Bobobaldy. It's things like not being able to do everyday things for fear of embarrasment or derision, that "normal" people take for granted but make our lives a misery. Your post brought a smile to my face because as a mother I know how important a day yesterday was for you. Time is now: This is my first fill too so not sure myself what to expect timewise either. If our paths cross please come and say hi. You'll recognise me, I'll be the wee fat bird  I've got light brown bobbed hair and I'll be wearing jeans and a black t- shirt. It'll have a rock band of some description on it but not sure which one coz I don't know which one I'll pull on in the morning Please say hi if you see me. Homecare: I'll probably be away by the time you arrive  but if you're eagerly early I'd love to meet you too  Cheers, Vikki

That does sound a bit scary Freckles. The instructions are quite complicated, I can understand my motorbike manual but got a bit lost with your instructions. The pant like a dog bit is brill though:lol:. I'd imagine (although I'm trying not to ) it's a messy affair too

Hi All, A huge congratulations to you Sammy, that's fantastic news for you. Gotta admit to being a tad envious though, I'm pretty broody but at my age and with my kids being, 14, 16 and 18 there's no way I could start again. That would be just mental  Wishful, my 18 year old daughter left home in September to go to uni. When she told me she was not going to a local uni, I cried for weeks every time I thought about it. The day she went we both cried most of the day but her leaving has done her a power of good and helped her grow as a person (except her discovering the wonderful world of nightclubs and booze!!) and now I dread her coming home for holidays :tt2: Only joking!! Your girl is starting out on a fantastic journey and I wish her well. Gillian I hope you did get photos of your son in a frock. Imagine the bargaining or blackmailing power that would give you with him. The temptation to show it to his mates and girlfriends would be too much for me though. My hubby and me play a wee game where we try to embarrass the bairns in front of their friends by singing and dancing together or just being weird. It's great fun :smile2: Just as a wee side note. Hitlers mum used to dress him up as a girl :wink2:

Hi all, hope you are all having a good day. Gary, You seem strong. I know whatever the outcome of your Belgium trip you will come back and keep losing. You are doing great and I am in awe of your success and the fitness regime you keep. Good luck I know what you're saying Bigsis but it's the whole head thing, I should be training my head to work with the band but because I have no restriction my head is still saying chip shop and baguettes too loud for me to ignore. As you rightly say though once I have restriction the choice will be taken away from me. Can't wait  When you were in Edinburgh I was away and strangely enough I was near Bamburgh Castle where you visited. How weird eh? Beeboo, it would be great to meet you if our times are near each other. You too Homecare, I'm not sure if it's Glasgow Green that I'm going to as I don't have any info through yet. Is this the only place in Glasgow they have the clinic or is there an alternative address? Ah dinnae ken. I'm glad you're managing, finally, to get some food in you. You must have been getting so weak with only mushies. I'm pleased:thumbup: You sound like you are definately on the mend!! Oh Freckles

Hi Homecare, how did you get on with your salmon? I've got such a cheek moaning about being able to eat pizza and stuff when you are going through such a terrible time, I really feel for you. Good luck Gary, Fingers crossed for you X

Mooster, I find Cadburys Options have a more intense flavour and if you close your eyes and savour that taste you can just about convince yourself your enjoying an lovely melt in your bar of choccie. The mint, orange, toffee, belgian chocolate and ooooh the turkish delight are gorgeous left to cool a bit and you don't get that yucky sludge in the bottom of your mug as with some. OMG I'm making myself hungry:laugh:

Thanks for the sound advice TIN. Looking forward to treats seem like a good way of helping stick to a sensible eating plan. In the past I've found that totally depriving myself of any goodies the only way to handle a diet but I realise now that I must change my eating habits completely. I've got so many bad habits to "break"! I find I am slipping back to past habits and have put food in my mouth without realising what I've done. I'm getting some dodgy looks from the other chefs when they see me spitting food out into the bin because it's dawned on me that I've eaten it  I WILL break these habits!!! I love your marathon analogy and will think of that until I get restriction and try and not be too harsh on myself (yesterday was a despise myself day and I was disgusted at what I ate over the weekend, was doubtful as to whether I had even been fitted with a band) Prior to the band I would have said oh sod it and given up my diet but now thank heavens that isn't gonna happen. I know it's a long road but I've no doubt at all that we'll all get there together in the end.

Welcome back Flirty, you're a scream and I wish you all the best!!!!!!!!!! Anybody know how Wishful is? I've not seen her posts for a while and was just wondering.... As for the bridget knickers saga, they helped support my wounds but didn't make diddly squat difference to restriction, of which, I have none btw (read last post lol) Oh Gary, Gary thinking of you, got fingers n toes n all other crossable extremeties, well......crossed XXX Homecare, make the most of your restriction, I'm kinda jealous really, had a huge bowl of mushroom risotto for lunch. I totally forget I have the band and am just my usual old piggy self!! Won't be long until I can get a fill though. Sounds like you had a ball in "the toun" bigsis. I'm so gald coz its a braw place. Mandy, I'm sure most of us have felt that way at some time. I know I have. I've had lots of unanswered posts and there was really only one person who reliably answered me from the start, but stick with the forum, I don't think anyone means to ignore anyone else but some have there regular chats and thats just the way it is, like in "real life" I suppose. I believe reading others posts, even if you're not interacting, will undoubtedly be of benefit so hang around for a while and see how you feel about it later. Good luck

ROLL ON MY 1ST FILL Been on a camping trip in Northumberland this weekend. Definately need a fill because this weekend I've managed to eat a 9" pizza & some chips, filled rolls, a fish supper ( ate half the chips) biscuits, ice cream, blah, blah. No wonder I'm in the state I am and hang all about the place like a pound of mince in a poly bag!!!!!!:tongue2::mad:

Hi all, I've been stuck at one and a half stone loss now for a few weeks, I'm not complaining at that but I'm really losing my way. I'm eating too much, too often and need some motivation or a boot up my arse  I've got a few weeks until I can have my 1st fill and I'm desperate for one. Could someone please tell me when you initially register with WLS do they ask to see paperwork concerning your band op and when it was done, if I could have a fill now, I would. Big Sis, I hope you enjoy your time in Edinburgh. It's a beautiful city and we have some of the best restaurants in the world here. There's a plethera of michelin star restaurants in the area and dozens n dozens of excellent restaurants offering food from all over the world. I sound like I work for the Edinburgh tourist board  but I think we've got fab food and I've never seen a deep fried mars bar in my life . As you say though, you'll have to watch yourself because temptation is all around!!!!!! Have a great time.
