Chancie, I'm with you, I love Rock Band. Sadly, I too stink. But it's fun and the drums can be a work out. Anything to get in some "exercise". I want to loose 12 more pounds by Christmas. That would put me at 169. I haven't been in the 160s in forever! My birthday is next Friday. My goal had been 175 but I don't think I'm gonna make it. Things seem to be slowing down a bit.

77 lbs! Feels amazing, doesn't it. Congrats on your NSV! Daisy, do you like the dance classes? I've been wanting to try it.
-
Thank you to your husband and you for serving our country! You are my hero! Congratulations on your NSV! You have been an inspiration for not giving into temptation.

Had my gallbladder out 12 years ago. I thought I was having a heart attack. It did really hurt for about 3 days. After a week you'll feel like a new woman. Glad your surgery went well.

You look amazing and all in 9 month!

I'm starving! It seemed ok until this afternoon. I had to run into the mall to pick up a gift and the smell of Aunt Annie's pretzels was almost more than I could stand. :svengo:I don't really even like pretzels. OK, just had to whine. Thanks for listening.

Hi, all. Well I am at the 3-4 week stall. The scale hasn't moved in 7 days. It weighs to the ounce and it hasn't moved up or down even one ounce. I had my husband come and stand on it just to see if it was "stuck". lol So, glad to read so many others report this otherwise I would be VERY discouraged. Also, forgive me for TMI but I've only been to the bathroom once in the last 10 days. I've taken Miralax for 3 days now and I'm getting in about 70 oz of Water. Anyone else having this trouble? As for food, eggs won't go down but egg beaters do. I've tried to eat some type of fish 3 times and have thrown up each time. I thought that was suppose to be one of the easy foods. ???

Have hit the brick wall
Nanna509 replied to Nanna509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I started back to Curves this past Friday then went again Mon. and yesterday. The scale moved 3 pounds! I guess changing up the exercise did work. As far as the other issue, still not luck. I had to be at a seminar the past few days and I was afraid to take the Miralx or MOM for fear it would work too well. I'm sure it will all work its self out. (pun intended) lol Glad I'm not the only one. -
I'm 5 weeks out today and the last 3 days have been the only ones I haven't taken a nap when i got home. I started back to Curves last Fri. and my energy levels seem to have soared. Hoping that will continue.

51 pounds! That's awesome!

Hi, Glenna. Wow it really is a small world. Where in Goodlettsville do you live? Technically we live in Millersville but since there is no post office we have a Goodlettsville address. Who did your surgery? I went to Dr. Dyer at Centennial.

Hi, all! Well 3 weeks post-op now and down 34 lbs (since pre-op) !Someone at work finally noticed I had lost some weight. You have to love the comment..."You can really tell in your face". Like was my head the size of a watermelon? lol I haven't told anyone at work either, Vegas. That's been kind of hard because I eat lunch with the same person everyday. I can only take 3 bites of something then comes the burping. That's been horrible. I've only told 3 people other than my husband and kids. I didn't want people watching every bite of food i put in my mouth and whispering behind my back about how big my behind still is. :scared0: Vegas, I saw your going on a cruise. Have a great time!!!

A lady I work with started that about a year ago. She loves it! She just went to a competition in LA a few months ago. Let us know how you like it. What a fun way to get in some exercise!

14 months - 135 lbs

thank you both for sharing your stories! very encouraging!!!! -
Well, I'm 2 weeks out now. 29 pounds lost since pre-op diet. I have a "dent" too around 2 of my incisions. Why the dent??? The larger one was very bruised and is still tender and the steri strip is still hanging on to that one. THey are all itching like crazy. How long does that last? All in all I feel great. Back to walking about a mile or two per day. Going for 3 this afternoon. Well see how that goes. Went back to full work day this past Monday. That's been a bit draining but each day I feel so much better. School is back in swing and my daughter has cheerleading practice til 8pm so it's been busy! Still looking forward to my scrambled egg tomorrow night. It's great getting on here and seeing how everyone else is doing. I haven't told anyone at work and it's kind of lonely not having anyone to share this with, if that makes any sense.

I know there was a thread about this before, but I forgot...it's day 10 and I started the full liquids 3 days ago. Basically with my doctor that only meant adding the flavored/thicker protein drinks. It's taking me over an hour to drink one and then I feel like I constantly have to burp for another hour. Ouch! I've tried thinning it out with water. Any other suggestions? Still not really feeling hungry but the smell of food is really getting to me. Four more days to mushies. I can't wait to eat a scrammbled egg!
-
Yeah!!! Isn't that a great feeling?

Reading stories on here helped me soooo much I thought I would do so on return. Had surgery THurs., Aug. 13th. My doctor required a 10-14 day liquied diet, if you have the option go for 10, why torture yourself an extra 4 days if you don't have to. I did great with the pre-op until about the 11th or 12th day then I was afraid to cheat because it might mess up the surgery. It was horrible! The night before surgery I was told to drink a bottle of mag citrate to "clean everything out". Nothing really happened that night which I didn't think much about because after all, I'd been on all liquids for 2 weeks. The next morning on the way to the hospital though, it decided to kick in. Ugh! I had bought of (sorry) explosive diarrhea. Luckily that didn't take long. Next they took me back, did vitals, changed into the gown, brought me socks (what a great thing, PACK THICK SOCKS!) and rolled me into the holding area. Talked with all the nurses, anesthesia personel and the doctor for any last min. questions. They said the catheter and intubation would take place after being put to sleep. The next thing I remeber was waking up in the recovery area, freezing and hurting! A shot of moraphine and then the next thing I remeber was being rolled into a room with my husband. The nurse handed me the moraphine pump and life was good. Four hours later the nurse woke me up and said "time to walk". I just knew I was dreaming. Rolling out of that bed, OUCH! The walk to the door was like running a marathon. At that point I started thinking "what have I done?" Day 2 Still very groggy and now itchy, ALL OVER! I apparantley dreamed that I told the nurse because no one remebered me telling them. My husband either. By 8 am it was time to walk again. THe second hardest time I've ever had trying to get out of a bed. Made it half way down the hall. Heeved many times from horrible nausea. (that felt great on the ole' stomach) The doctor came by an hour later and decided still nothing by mouth for one more day, just to be safe. My mouth was SOOO dry. THank goodness, I had packed the chap stick. Decided the best way to heal was rest so everytime I even felt conscience that night I hit the pain pump. Day 3 What a difference a day makes! Nause gone. Walked all the way down the hall like 5 times. Finally got something by mouth. Now I know what everyone meant about things tasting too sweet. I've always loved "sweet" tasting. The crystal light was gagging me. Then came the crushed pills in the mushed up popsicle. Oh, MY! yuck:crying: Whose bright idea was that??? I finally actually told them about the itching and so the moraphine stopped that morning. I think I only took pain meds twice that day. Day 4 Feeling like a new woman, waiting for the on-call doc to show up and release me, as it is Sunday. So to kill the time I walked, rested, walked somemore. Still very sore. Then the gas pains kicked in. WOW! It felt like somebody was stabbing me with a knife. Finally went home late Sunday afternoon. Personally I thought the gas-x strips and the heating pad helped the best. Day 5 (today) Kind of a rough night sleeping. Couldn't get comfortable lying on my back so sat up on my couch and "slept". The worst of the pain is from this drain. The rest of my inscisions are just sore. Anybody else have issues with the drain? Thank goodness, it comes out Thurs. Love the broth and very diluted Crystal light. My husband was having fajitas today, I have to say, I've thought many times today "what have i done? Am I going to regret this? Was being fat really THAT bad?" Hard to believe I would even consider that notion, huh??? As I had prayed about this decision so many times a passage of scripture came to mind, Jesus said "If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better to enter heaven mamed than into hell physically whole" PARAPHRASED. food had become like my golden calf. It was what I turned to in times of happiness, lonliness, sadness....everything. It took the place of my holy perfect God. So, I literally "plucked it out". Will keep you all posted in the days to come. Sorry this was so long. Hope it helps someone else the way others stories have helped me. God bless you all wherever you are in your journey.

Need clarification

The best advice I've seen was given to someone by their doctor: "I've given you the stomach of a baby. Raise it well." Love the quote! -

I have a long-haired, four-legged baby too. He's 13, black and white and about 15 pounds. He's been so upset with me because I haven't been picking him up. The doctor said nothing over 5 pounds for two weeks. He hasn't been that light since he was a kitten. Coinsidence too, we just replaced the old water heater not too long ago. Thank goodness it's in the garage and didn't created too much of a mess. Now something on the central heat/air has gone out. Not a good thing during the month of Aug. in Tennessee. Ahhh, the joy of home ownership. Vegas, how are your spasms doing? Are you eating more than mushies now? -

My doctor is one of three in his office that do gastric surgeries and according to the nurse he's the only one who leaves the drain in for a week. I had to empty it and record the amount twice a day. Vegas was right as far as draining excess Fluid and he said it also helped to look out for a leak. My husband was with me when they took it out. He said it looked like a magician pulling out the never-ending magic scarves. lol It was just bothersom. Glad to be rid of it. Congratulations on your date! You'll be glad you did it! I'm 9 days out and feel amazing. Walked almost 2 miles this morning. Yea! -
Finally, it's tomorrow. The last month has seemed like an eterninty. Little nervous but ready! Sitting here now drinking mag. citrate. GAG! Thanks again for all who have posted their experience. It's great knowing what to expect every step of the way. Will hopefully check in by the weekend!:lol0:

Haven't lost any more weight since the initial 1 week post-op
Nanna509 replied to susimar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ash, did your doctor have anything to say about your stall? Maybe try a dancing video. My daughter and I got one from the local library. It was a hoot and didn't feel so much like "exercise" but it sure works up a sweat. I hope the scale moves soon for you! -
Home early and feeling kind of yucky!

How are you feeling today? I've been drinking the Syntrax nectar, fuzzy navel. It's not bad. Everything taste so sweet. As for the pills, I've been crushing mine too and the nutritionalist said it was okay to mix it with like a tsp of SF Hershey's syrup. That's made a world of difference. One of my meds seriously tasted like i was licking a piece of coal. -

Well, it's day 7. I'm so amazed at how much better I feel each day. I cleaned house most all of yesterday, with a few naps in between. Dange, I see what you mean about the energy. I feel great now. THe drain site is still a bit tender but it comes out tomorrow. The diarrhea came yesterday too. And, like most others I've read, finding it hard to get down all of my liquids and protein. Still haven't gotten the ticker thing, but I was officially down 25 pounds today, since pre-op. :lol0: YEA!!!!!!! Thanks for all the encouragement! Have a great hump day.
